All your talk of Christians, of fundamentalists, of right-wing extremists, of X-ians, whatever...

Spill it. Nothing else matters. It's all diversions and justifications

for your rejection of Jesus Christ.

Just admit it.

Be bold. Be open. Be brazen.

I can only thank Jesus.

What about you and your heart?

I don't hate him.

Some of his followers are irritating though.

If you really loved Jesus like you claim, then why all the piss poor attempts to prove that the bible is the innerrant word of God,
that in effect proves you faithless and no lover of Jesus at all

the biggest sceptic here has more chance of getting into heaven than you do,
so what about you and your conscience 154, why all the hatred in you for everyone who doesnt agree with the crap you come out with.
Do you think hatred is a requirement for getting into heaven

It's not easy hating someone who in all probability never existed.

What exactly are you thanking him for? The man has been dead for 2000 years.

He's done absolutely nothing for me that I can see, but I don't hate him. I feel the same way about him as I do for most people who lived and died 2000 years ago. Complete and utter indifference.

I don't reject him any more than I reject Julius Caesar.

Why is atheism so hard for theists to understand? There's no hatred or rejection involved.

Marduk,
If you'll answer my question,
I'll answer any of yours.

I don't hate him. I think he was mostly nifty.
I think he advanced some good moral values(golden rule), but clearly also supported some horrible ones (slavery, thought crimes).
This imperfection is to be expected and excused.
He was, afterall, only human.

OK. You've found me out. I'll have to admit it. The only reason I'm an atheist is that I hate Jesus Christ! :o

As a matter of fact I am an also anti-bunnyist, 'cause I hate Peter Rabbit. :(

Now go away. :covereyes

Why do you hate the Flying Spaghetti Monster?

Admit it, all your talk of Jesus is only diversions and justifications for your rejection of the FSM.

Just admit it.

Was the question too offensive?

Because you're shouting them? I tend to cringe at anything shouted suddenly.

ETA: Wow, this is moving fast. With luck, 154 will lose his rag and get banned by lunchtime tomorrow. :D

Thers no evidence that Jesus is up there. I don't hate something that doesn't exist.

Like many others, I have no particular hatred for this supposed Jesus Christ. If there ever existed one, he was but one prophet amongst many thousands across the millenia. And assuming there was, then like many other prophets, he got some people making up some stories about him a few decades after he died. Big deal. What's there to hate about that? People didn't know as much then as we do now, amongst other things, they hadn't got a proper grasp on story verification, which is hardly his fault.

Just the words

JESUS CHRIST

make you cringe.

Why?

This isn't even remotely true.

Sometimes the words make me sad, when I think how many adults think that he loves them, and especially them, and I get a bit nauseated thinking that grown people get warm and fuzzy feelings thinking that some dead guy really really loves them!

Newsflash: He doesn't love you. He doesn't even know you.

Why do you hate/reject Tsui Goab, Mangar-kunjer-kunja, Shiva, Yuanshi Tianzun, Ra, Zeus, Anu, Ahura Mazda, Vesta, Odin, Yahweh, Quetzalcoatl, Ika Omkara, Dirawong, Mars, Exu, Allah, Brahman, Elohim, Waheguru...

And the strawman of the year goes to... 154 for his post 'Why do YOU hate Jesus Christ'! Wonderful; good job!

That being said, Jesus' philosophy, as has been reported to us, we don't know how much to it was ever preached by a Jesus named rabbi, had several good points, 'love thi neighbor' and all that crap.
However, as Hoku's mentioned, it also had serious drawback. For a big part, it seemed to reject direct action to try and improve the world in favour of 'bearing with it' until heavens, in essence, placating the masses and delaying actual progress.
Furthermore, his 'thought crimes' is a endless sources of pointless suffering.
Also, importantly, the episode narrated in John 12 would suggest, if it had happened, of course, that for all his talks about charity, Jesus was a bit of a self-centered bastard...

None of this would be a deal-breaker, of course, and if Jesus was real, it would seem like he would have been a mostly ok guy... certainly not anybody I'd hate...

Now, that it is out of the way, 154, why do you hate Buddha so much? What as he ever done to you?

How does Jesus Christ fall short in your judgement?

How is He not as good as You?

I don't have him, I let him go quite some time ago.

He escaped without harm.

Why don't you actually address the points being made to you rather than obfuscate? Why do you hate logic and reason so much?

Admit it, just the words: logic and reason make you cringe!

To summarize this thread so far:
A question was asked:
All your talk of Christians, of fundamentalists, of right-wing extremists, of X-ians, whatever...

Spill it. Nothing else matters. It's all diversions and justifications

for your rejection of Jesus Christ.

Just admit it.

What about you and your heart?
which received multiple, honest calm responses.
He promoted fatalism and the notion of thought crime.

Ick.
I don't hate him.

Some of his followers are irritating though.
It's not easy hating someone who in all probability never existed.
I don't hate Jesus Christ. I couldn't care less about him

but instead of addressing what is the most common response, a post which clearly was meant to be sarcastic

Clearly, 154 is currently engaged in a preaching game where he will only respond to posts which conform to the narrative he is actively generating.

While this may be fun for him and potentially cathartic, it isn't going to generate interesting discussion.

joobz,

What is it you have against Jesus Christ?

Asked and answered:
I don't hate him. I think he was mostly nifty.
I think he advanced some good moral values(golden rule), but clearly also supported some horrible ones (slavery, thought crimes).
This imperfection is to be expected and excused.
He was, afterall, only human.

If you support Jesus competely, why not explain what you find admirable about thought crimes, or the advocating of beating slaves?

About which "Jesus Christ" are we being asked to render an opinion?

If it's the one who condemns men, women and children to eternal torment by fire because they chose to reject the unsupported, supernatural claims of a fellow, fallible human being, I must say I don't believe in this fictional personage, so my feelings about "him" are irrelevant.

If it's the one who entreats his followers to love everyone as we love ourselves, I really like that person, and whether he was fictional or historical I must say I'm on his side.
