If you've ever though about devoting a bit of your spare time to the JREF, we have an opportunity for you.

We've just launched an Amazon store which will help raise funds for the JREF. Not a lot, but every little bit helps. It works like this... if you buy things from Amazon through one of our links, the JREF gets a little bit of money, and it costs you nothing extra. You can actually buy ANYTHING on Amazon, and we'll get a small percentage of the sale.

What we need in a volunteer is someone trustworthy, who LOVES skeptical and science books, and is willing to keep up to date with suggestions and new book releases.

If anyone is interested in taking on the task of managing the Amazon JREF Library, please contact me at jeff@randi.org.

Thanks!

Maybe a little more information about what the volunteer would actually need to do and need to know.

I'd love to do it, but I'm going to be crazed and unreliable for the next several months, so I'll abstain this time.

They'd be responsible for picking out the books, etc, and putting them in the store. Nothing too complicated, but it could be fun for someone who was passionate about skeptical reading.

Hi Jeff,

Have e-mailed you regarding this position.

Cheers,

Chris

You might want to extend this to other domains if you haven't: .co.uk, .ca, etc? I order a lot of books, but almost always through amazon.ca (searched but couldn't find any JREF store there).

If you're going to be selling any LGBT books, you might want to hold off on the Amazon thing for a couple of days.

I'll throw my hat in also if it isn't too late. :( I think I might actually have the largest collection of science and technology books on this forum. Also, Im probably the only person on this forum where book burning was a punishment.:p

And here.

From Amazon: It has been misreported that the issue was limited to Gay & Lesbian themed titles – in fact, it impacted 57,310 books in a number of broad categories such as Health, Mind & Body, Reproductive & Sexual Medicine, and Erotica. This problem impacted books not just in the United States but globally. It affected not just sales rank but also had the effect of removing the books from Amazon's main product search.

Many books have now been fixed and we're in the process of fixing the remainder as quickly as possible, and we intend to implement new measures to make this kind of accident less likely to occur in the future.

Congratulations and thanks to Geek Goddess, who will now be the JREF Amazon Librarian. Hmm, isn't that a nice title?
