Merged UK Queen dead? Dying?/Liz Mountbatten's death

BBC TV news have all jumped into black suits and black ties.

I can't see what the Radio 3 announcers are wearing. (Although I can confirm that when one of them said he was dressed up as Mozart on Red Nose Day in about 1988 he was indeed, because I was at choir practice in Broadcasting House and he came into the rehearsal room to shake us all down for money.)

The programmes are proceeding as usual (still on Richard Strauss) even if they are frantically donning black ties.

"My plan is working! Charles, Harry, and William are all on planes on their way here, temporarily out of contact. Now we move house and not tell them the new address!"

I do like how the popular narratives are often shown to be a load of crap. All this about Harry being a pariah now, Queen upset with him, William won’t talk to him yet he is (I’ve just been informed by the media) the only non-heir grandkid travelling to Balmoral. Do you know any family that doesn’t use a funeral or marriage to get the knife in if there is upset in a family? Seems he may not be as unpopular as the media like to make up stories about him.

BBC America, rising to the occasion, is currently showing episodes of that classic British television series, Star Trek: The Next Generation.

What's with the guy with glasses?

Move house - we’re moving the country as soon as we know Truss is on her way.

Not looking forward to this given that two completely different sets of insufferable people are going to behave extremely insufferably.

Hope she had kept up her Sunlife payments, funerals are bloody expensive these days.

And while the Starship Enterprise explores the galaxy on BBC America, CNN is showing a camera feed showing police carrying dozens of those metal crowd-directing barriers (the kind that look a bit like bicycle racks) out of a gate near Balmoral. It's not looking likely that it's a close-call or false-alarm.

Radio 3 is a 24-7-365 funeral/mourning station anyway IMO.

What will happen is KissFM, Capital, Radio1DANCE et al all suddenly start adopting the same schedule.

Rumour is she had money on with Ladbrokes about making seventieth Jubilee and a flutter at paddy power on appointing fifteen prime ministers. She's probably collected enough from that, I think the bets were placed in the 60's.

I think she must at least be in a coma not expected to revive.

Re Philip: he died in the morning but it was not announced until noon..

his death was announced by the royal family at noon BST on 9 April 2021, with the release of a statement saying he had "died peacefully" that morning at Windsor Castle.

Oh God I hadn't realised she's actually in Scotland at the moment. That's all we need.

From the tabloids:

The Queen's children and grandchildren including William and Harry are at her bedside today - or racing to get to Balmoral - after doctors revealed they are 'concerned' for her health.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were scheduled to attend the WellChild Awards in London this evening but the couple have changed their plans at the 11th hour and are heading to Aberdeenshire, their spokesman confirmed, as millions of Britons and her subjects around the world prayed for her.

Yes but don’t forget that would have had to wait until Philip’s private secretary had spoken to the Queen’s private secretary and when he then could find 5 minutes in the Queen’s schedule to let her know.

I think the attitude will be that the public don't get to know immediately she dies.

They will announce it on the hour in a sombre news report.

Neither of the palaces are known for making news reports. Are you thinking Charles is going to use this to kick start a new news channel? If so smart man - keep the exclusive rights to the funeral to his new news channel, make it a PPV event.

It's a lot easier to get the knife in if they're actually there to have it inserted, in my experience. Keep your friends close but your black sheep closer?

No, silly, it'll be Nicholas Witchell at the BBC.

The Sun and the Daily Mail are reporting that Meghan is searching the Queen's belongings, looking for the will.

Well she could wait until probate because after all wills become public documents at that point…. Well except their’s of course.
