Two Minnesota lawmakers shot.

He could say it without saying it by denying it.

Something along the lines of wanting to dismiss any rumours he worries the killer might be pardoned by Trump if he receives a federal conviction, but rather with this being an attack not just on the individuals but on the people of Minnesota, he wants Minnesota to deliver justice.

PS I do momentarily wonder if the suspect has any rich relatives who might buy a $1m dinner date with Trump.
Ya, I don't see Minnesota's AG, Keith Ellison, letting Pam Bondi handle this.

Don Jr blatantly lies about Vance Boelter: "I have a feeling that leftist Tim Walz isn't exactly appointing conservatives. Apparently he had the No Kings flyer in his thing. But he went after someone that didn't just blindly follow Democrat, radical leftist dogma."

I remember an old Matt Groening Life In Hell cartoon with a panel titled "how to have fun at parties". It said, "go up to the biggest coke addict and say this:", then had a panel with someone telling a strung out guy with a runny nose, "See that guy over there? He has a ton of coke on him, but he's going to deny it, and I'm going to deny I told you this." That would be a fun game to play with Don Jr. if I didn't think he already has at least five ounces of coke on him at all times.

Democrats in general need to start calling this what it is and calling Republicans out by name. Republicans have made political violence part of their identity and dancing around that fact achieves nothing.
But you might "insult" a republican who would have voted deomocrat if you hadn't insulted them....

Q: The other officer who came upon Boelter and saw him sitting in a vehicle, did she report that or realize it was suspect?

ACTING US ATTORNEY THOMPSON: I don't think she did. She knew something was awry and then he proceeded to Brooklyn Park and carried out the next shooting.

Boelter went to the homes of two other elected officials after shooting Hoffman but before going to Hortman's house. One cop encountered him at the third house but thought he was a police officer.

Acting US Attorney Thompson details that officers actually exchanged fire with Boelter before he barged into Hortman's house and killed her and her husband.

Did they release his badge number yet? Because is totally a cop.

The New York Times has provided details. The manhunt was police only, no military. The individuals who appeared to be military were apparently members of civilian police SWAT teams.
Dozens of police officers and about 20 SWAT teams had fanned out across the county over the weekend, in what officials called the largest manhunt in state history...Brooklyn Park [Minn.] police officers responded early Saturday to a report of a shooting at the residence of State Senator John A. Hoffman. Officers proactively went to Representative Melissa Hortman’s home to check on her, and found Mr. Boelter there...When the police arrived at Ms. Hortman’s house, the suspect immediately opened fire on the responding officers, [Drew Evans, the superintendent of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension] said. The officers returned fire, and the man escaped out the back door of the house on foot onto a golf course, setting off the manhunt. New York Times article link

What a horrifying tragedy. :(

We have two sitting U.S. Republican senators who posted vicious lies about political assassinations committed by MAGA. There have been no retractions and there have been no apologies. Republicans certainly won’t hold them accountable and neither will the media.

It’s a neat little microcosm of how we got here.

He is such a piece of ◊◊◊◊ . . .

President Trump said early Tuesday that he would not call Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) after two Democratic lawmakers in his state were shot at their homes in a “politically motivated” shooting spree over the weekend.

“I think the governor of Minnesota is so whacked out. I’m not calling,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on his way back from the Group of Seven (G7) summit. “Why would I call him?”
Who is whacked out now?

The "he was a liberal/Democrat" claim seems to have been based on two factors. First, that he had been appointed to a 'state workforce development board' twice, during the administrations of two different Democratic governors, and that he is said to have had 'NO KINGS' flyers in his vehicle.

Maybe ultra-partisan morons find it inconceivable that anyone would form a bipartisan citizens board, but I bet a check of that board will show plenty of other registered Republicans served. And the photos I saw of the 'NO KINGS' flyers that were supposedly from his car looked like the sort of papers that are stuck under people's windscreen wipers in parking lots. The fact that he had a small stack of them could easily be explained by him having removed them from several vehicles out of anger.

At any rate, the "served on board under Democratic governor = Democrat" and "possession of 'NO KINGS' flyers = liberal/Marxist" are perfect examples of why we need to teach people critical thinking skills in the U.S.

I had predicted that he would somehow malign the victims (there's still time, of course), but it's perfectly within character for him to be too childish and weak to even call Walz and express sympathy* for the dead and their friends and family.

* Not that I think he's capable of feeling sympathy.

My theory is the no kings flyers were additional potential targets.

I disagree with the post script, he constantly feels sorry for himself.

And let's don't forget that the supposed reason the disgruntled "Democrat" (Boelter) shot Hortman is that she voted for a compromise bill that cut state-funded healthcare coverage for adult illegal immigrants in Minnesota- she did so unwillingly only because its passage was necessary to keep the state government funded and running.

The other Democrat Boelter shot, however (Hoffman), voted against that bill. So what was the motivation for the "Marxist" there?

The board was one of many such boards that every state has. This was not 'hired' or 'appointed' as righties like to claim. They are strictly volunteer positions, unpaid, and need little more than a basic background check. Its not a position you can afford to be picky about candidates or try to stuff with partisans. In fact Minnesota had some 400 positions open on similar councils. You take who you can get.

The flyers could have been ones he took down, but that seems risky since you might get caught or reported before you start shooting. My bet is that it was his cover for trying a getaway after his killings. Grab a stack of the flyers and just start walking/or driving towards the protest. Any cop stops you and you show the stack of flyers and say "Don't know anything about shootings, officer, I'm on my way to the protest, see all these flyers?"

Sen. Mike Lee (R, UT) twiX:
* * *
What an ass.
You have no idea how utterly embarrassing it is not only to be represented by this man in the Senate but to belong to a state that elected him to his third term with more than 60% of the vote. Most of what I have to say about Sen. Lee would just end up as those little diamonds, so I'll leave it to your imagination. Suffice it to say he is a direct descendent of the man who ordered in the infamous Mountain Meadows massacre, illustrated in Netflix' American Primeval.

Sen. Lee has deleted the offending tweets. He is facing increasing calls to resign, but of course he will do no such thing. Nor, it seems, will Utah's Republican Party do or say anything. As unapologetically odious as that man is, he has fingers deep into the Utah political machine.

My husband's family has been Mormon since almost its foundation, but he left it officially decades ago much to the dismay of his very Mormon father. My only aunt and uncle were also (converted) Mormons and lived in Utah so we're well aware of the hold Mormons have on the Utah politics. The president of the Church "recommends" who to vote for to skirt the tax exemption law, but in actuality, he's indicating who a good Mormon will vote for.

Latter-day Saints also hold 100% of the state's congressional seats. Eighty-nine of the 103 lawmakers to be seated Jan. 19 (with one current vacancy) are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That’s 86%. Utah’s population is 60% Latter-day Saint, according to research by The Salt Lake Tribune. Latter-day Saints also hold 100% of the state’s congressional seats and statewide political offices, such as governor.

“That Mormon dominance is the most important fact about Utah politics, and it determines political outcomes. People don’t talk about it, but that’s what it is,” said retired Utah journalist Rod Decker, who wrote a book on the topic, “Utah Politics: The Elephant in the Room.”

Vance Boelter has been indicted on six federal charges.

A letter addressed by Boelter to Kash Patel was also released:
Dear Kash Patel. My name is Dr. Vance Luther Boelter Ed.D. I am the shooter at large in Minnesota involved in the 2 shootings the morning of Saturday June 15th.
The letter goes on for a page and a half, and makes several claims that are simply not credible. Acting US Attorney Joseph H Thompson said the letter may be a "delusion that [Boelter] believes" or "an effort to misdirect our investigation....It certainly seems designed to excuse his crimes."

In an earlier interview with the New York Post, Boelter "denied his actions were motivated by his anti-abortion views or support for President Trump."

The letter seems to be setting up for a Trump comment "I don't know about the case but some people said he wrote a very nice letter and was very misunderstood and it was very unfair in the trial" right after the pardon comes in.
