Trump's Second Term

It's nt just a pump and dump scheme. The opportunities for Presidential level bribery are also significant...

well i also don’t really understand that either. yes, you can just funnel unlimited money to trump, but since we know which wallets belong to trump it’s just going to exposed a network of bribery. so, the problem is the bribery is very public.

i don’t know that they thought this through. or they just don’t care. i mean, they just rugged a bunch of their supporters so probably don’t care.

either way, just look how many tens of millions they made in transaction fees in the last 24 hours between trump coin, melania coin, and world liberty financial. this whole thing is a scam on a scale that you can’t even imagine.

STATEMENT FROM PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP

I am pleased to announce that former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe will serve as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

From exposing fake Russian collusion to be a Clinton campaign operation, to catching the FBI's abuse of Civil Liberties at the FISA Court, John Ratcliffe has always been a warrior for Truth and Honesty with the American Public. When 51 intelligence officials were lying about Hunter Biden's laptop, there was one, John Ratcliffe, telling the truth to the American People.

For these and many other reasons, it was my great honor in 2020 to award John the National Security Medal, the Nation's highest honor for distinguished achievement in the field of Intelligence and National Security.

I look forward to John being the first person ever to serve in both of our Nation's highest Intelligence positions. He will be a fearless fighter for the Constitutional Rights of all Americans, while ensuring the Highest Levels of National Security, and PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH.
And Strength Through Joy, no doubt.

Thank you. The ADL (not exactly known for underplaying the anti-Semite card) has said that it was not a Nazi salute.

If you folks want to amuse yourself by pretending it was a Nazi salute, fine, but don't kid yourself that you are behaving skeptically. You're indulging your confirmation bias.
Gaslighting isn't going to work. Why are you so adamant in defending fElon Musk? He is a white supremacist that has ties to white supremacist groups. Body of work. Evidence. Reasoning. You are forming conclusions that go against all of this.

That's already been addressed upthread, and I'm not sure what makes the ADL's opinion definitive. I can cite historians and experts in fascism who very much think it was a Nazi salute. So do a lot of actual Nazis. Where does that leave us?

With the video you still refuse to address.

What "confirmation bias" are you referring to? I watched a video of Elon Musk performing a Nazi salute and came away with the conclusion that Elon Musk performed a Nazi salute. Because the video very clearly shows him performing a Nazi salute.

The only bias in this thread is from willfully blind Trump supporters and apologists pretending that the video doesn't exist.

Yeah, Leon's advocating for AfD, a neo nazi/ white supremacist group whose leader has been prosecuted twice for using nazi slogans, and whose daggers are engraved with the nazi slogan Alles für Deutschland. Musk isn't fooling anyone. Well, maybe magats.

Watch Trump and Vance. They know they're being chastised, and they sure don't like it.
His magat supporters suggest the Reverend be deported for daring to suggest Donnie Diapers employ empathy and understanding

Party of xtian and family values.

They don't like it that they are in a place where they can't publicly retaliate. But Congressman Mike Collins believes he has the answer King Felonious wants to hear: That American-born bishop needs to be deported because she criticised Mr Unconditional Discharge!

Okay, but I would like to know to what extent it is normal to have a lot of churn with jobs when a new president comes in.

ETA: Well, it looks like most of them serve a four-year term that goes up to the end of May. So maybe not normal, but we're going to see a lot of not normal for a while.

Read some of the posts and replace Trump with Obama or Clinton and the two are indistinguishable. Hilarious!

It's started.

The fourth reason listed for Fagan’s dismissal is the “excessive focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies,” which diverted resources from mission initiatives, according to the senior DHS official’s statement.

Trump says he has signed a full and unconditional pardon for Ross Ulbricht, who operated Silk Road, the infamous dark web marketplace.

He said

"The scum that worked to convict him were some of the same lunatics who were involved in the modern day weaponization of government against me,"

What message is he sending?

Not sure but it must have something to do with enriching himself, or some perceived slight.

ETA: The scum that worked to convict him were some of the same lunatics who were involved in the modern day weaponization of government against me.

That's it. Revenge for attempts to hold him responsible.

Trump has ordered that the federal death penalty be reinstated.
It would apply to any "capital crime committed by an alien illegally present in this country" and anyone convicted of murdering a law-enforcement officer.

That a criminal drug and weapon dealer complicit in many deaths is a perfectly acceptable vocation.

Okay, Brainster.

Can I ask you what you thought of it when you first saw it? Like, what was your gut reaction?
Did you think, "Oh he is showing how much his heart is going out to the people who voted for him?" and then be suddenly surprised to read that people were interpreting it as a Nazi salute?

Or did you at least think to yourself. "Oh, that looks a bit dodgy. I hope there is a rational explanation for this." and were then relieved to find out the ADL gave Musk a clean bill of health?

I'm just curious.
Didn't see it before it blew up. But when I saw the full clip (including the "Thank you, my heart goes out to you," which immediately follows the supposed Nazi salute) it was obvious that however awkwardly staged it was, the intent was for him to figuratively rip out his heart and toss it to the crowd.

But let me flip it around and ask you why someone other than David Duke would give the Nazi salute. Is it (as some of the CT minded here have suggested) because he knows he can get away with it because dedicated Republicans like me (who voted for Harris and the Democrats in 2024--you know, those kinds of dedicated Republicans) will cover up for him? And so he can send a secret message out to the neo-Nutsos that he's on their side? See this is the part I don't get--what exactly would Musk gain from this?

I'll answer by saying I have no idea why he would post half the weird and dodgy right-wing stuff he puts on Twitter. So much of his behaviour is off-the-wall and crazy to me that it no longer washes to say that it would be a bad idea to give a Nazi salute at the inauguration.

My initial assumption, when I saw a still, was that it was probably some badly decontextualized photograph and people were freaking out about it unnecessarily. The video, on the other hand, looked utterly shocking.

Maybe that is what he wanted. To make the libs cry more tears. That would definitely be in character.

The stasher of hundreds of classified documents in his gold-encrusted ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ knows a thing or two about national security! It’s true!

That would only work if there was a video of someone at Obama or Clinton's inauguration doing Nazi salute on stage, like this one of Elon Musk doing a Nazi salute on stage at Trump's inauguration.

Do you have a video like that?

Because I have one like that of Elon Musk.

As with all things far-right, the point is to normalize outrageous behavior: just like all the racist, sexist, call for violence against minorities things they say and claim are only jokes, or tests of censorship, right until everyone is too tired to and scared to criticize them for it - then they meant it all along.

Musk is (supposedly) a grown man of untold wealth: the idea that ANYONE not paid to do so would feel the need to take his side on ANYTHING is fundamentally stupid.

"Figuratively rip out his heart and toss it to the crowd". Yes, this very common gesture that everyone does all the time and we all should be able to immediately recognize. Well argued. It's a shame it looks exactly like a Nazi salute, though.

As far as why he did it, you're seriously asking why the world's biggest troll who has on multiple occasions expressed support for the extreme right did a Nazi salute at Trump's inauguration? Embarrassing levels of feigned ignorance on display here.

Even if it was a real thing, why would it look like that? Why would he reach for his heart near his shoulder and then toss it to the crowd with a stiffened arm held at a 45 degree angle? I'm really fascinated by the boldness of this big dumb lie.

With hundreds of EOs signed the very first day, there's no way Trump wrote them or was involved in their writing. Who's ruling through his rubber stamp?

trump has signalled most of them during his campaign though. Releasing Ross Ubrich was promised back in May.

I imagine that with many things like this, he and other politicians delegate this stuff to lawyers. He'll have teams of people writing these things.

So you're telling me he's trolling you guys and you fell for it? I won't argue that one, sounds completely on form.

what does this mean, exactly?
An extreme public figure of infinite wealth is behaving outrageously in front of all the cameras in the world -and it would be wrong to criticise him for that?

Well, luckily he's got you to defend him, the poor man!

Did he make any completely harmless and innocent "OK" signs, too? Maybe something involving the number 88? Have a toy frog handy?

well i don't think it's that clear, i think he's got something. he's got a way of talking and moving where he's trying to imitate what he thinks would be cool but ends up doing it in the most awkward way possible, what the cause of that is, idk. his nazi salute is a great example, he does a sig hiel but doesn't really get it right. you can watch it and know what i'm talking about, it was a weird looking sig hiel. his nazi drill instructor would be picking that apart, it's too low and floppy, he's not keeping his wrist straight. sir mix a lot may be able to comment more towards that as to why he doesn't find it to be a properly done nazi salute. anyway, autistic is a good descriptor of that imo.

that said, not all autistic people are the same. and if you have a better single word descriptor i could use to encapsulate what i'm describing i'll use it.
That just means he's uncoordinated, not anything else.
