Trump's Second Term

Donald Trump seems to have "gone woke" when it comes to the harm his overly-broad immigration crackdown is inflicting on the construction and agriculture industries. I would have to guess there are some very heated exchanges happening today between Trump and his handler, Stephen Miller.

There has always been a conflict between the "Let's get rid of all the brown people!" crowd and the "We need vast numbers of illegal workers to drive wages through the floor!" crowd. The whole idea that we were getting rid of the "bad hombres" allowed people to ignore this contradiction, but the fact that there are not that many "bad hombres" to deport is rearing its head. Miller wants to deport 3000 people a day indefinitely, and you can't really do that without hitting honest hard-working immigrants who just happen not to be documented (If you could find every last one of them instantly, you would probably get rid of all of MS-13 and Tren De Aragua in a week at that rate).

On the lighter side, it seems work is underway to pave over Melania's rose garden. From what I recall was said when Melania planted that before, paving is probably an improvement. Trump says he's going to pay himself for a couple of giant flags to go along with it, because of course otherwise nobody would know where they are. I hope the flag and pole purveyors get the money up front.

It was another of those cases where he claims "people have wanted to do it for hundreds of years" but for some reason not been able to. Plus he tries to make out he's paying. As if.

Shame no-one ever thought to put a flagpole on the roof or anything... Oh, wait.

"If soldiers have political views that are in opposition to the current administration and they don't want to be in the audience then they need to speak with their leadership and get swapped out," another note to troops said.

…to be followed by a letter in their personnel file noting their disloyalty.

"Please ensure contact details for your immediate family are up to date and accurate before expressing opposition to our Dear Leader. Failure to do so may result in assignment to different re-education camps"

...Trump: I was number one on tiktok in its history. Can you believe that?...
Can I believe that? No, no I can't. But more to the point, why is that important, with everything that has been going on, why does trump think it's important that he is "number one on tiktok?"

Can you remember any other US president acting like this, talking this way? Again, no, no I can't.

Well he did qualify it with "can you believe that?".

No, of course we can't believe that. Like just about everything you say, it's false.
(Sorry I missed a page. That was merely the tiktok thing.)

Sen. Alex Padilla was just handcuffed and detained while standing up to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem at her LA press conference.

This is not America.

From reporting by The Independent:
“We are not going away,” Noem declared. “We are staying here to liberate the city from the socialists and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into the city.”
It is really not America when the head of a federal agency like DHS openly proclaims that the reason they are there has nothing to do with homeland security and is instead "to liberate" the city from people with whom the administration disagrees politically. Even if Newsom and Bass are socialists, it's not up to Noem/Trump to decide that they have to go because of that. This goes beyond just saying the quiet part out loud, it's shouting for all to hear that Trump and Co. will brook no dissent from their political goals and actions.

Good point. What part of Noem's job is it to usurp control of a major city from its elected officials?

And you can add the IRS to the list of federal agencies Trump is prepared to unleash against his political opponents (link is to Raw Story):

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem revealed in a news conference Thursday that agents of the IRS have been deployed on the ground in Los Angeles to investigate who is "paying them" to protest.
...
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard told Fox on Wednesday that it was something the Justice Department and the FBI were looking into, but there hasn't been any specific information.

Gabbard cited Craigslist ads that request protesters, promising to pay thousands of dollars. However, anyone can create a Craigslist ad for anything without requirements for verification that it's authentic. As an example, there is currently a Craigslist ad in Washington, D.C. offering $1,000 for "seat fillers" at Trump's birthday parade on Saturday.

I honestly think these people have disappeared their heads so far up their own ideological asses that they really do believe that any disagreement with them is treason and should be treated as such.

Republicans have conditioned a great, many people into believing that anyone who isn't Republican or who doesn't agree with them are traitors. It's a project that started long ago with Fox News doing the lion share of the work.

Noem claims she spoke to Padilla "for 15 minutes" after the incident...would love to know how (or if) that went down. They apparently had "a great conversation" and exchanged phone numbers. How sweet...

Fox built the house, but the architects were Rush Limbaugh and Newt Gingrich. Fat, pasty-white architects.

Starvation alert as children fill Kenya refugee ward after US aid cuts

Hundreds of thousands of people are "slowly starving" in Kenyan refugee camps after US funding cuts reduced food rations to their lowest ever levels, a United Nations official has told the BBC.

The impact is starkly visible at a hospital in the sprawling Kakuma camp in the north-west of the East African nation. It is home to roughly 300,000 refugees who have fled strife in countries across Africa and the Middle East.

Emaciated children fill a 30-bed ward at Kakuma's Amusait Hospital, staring blankly at visitors as they receive treatment for severe acute malnutrition.

One baby, Hellen, barely moves. Parts of her skin are wrinkled and peeling, leaving angry patches of red - the result of malnutrition, a medic tells the BBC.

Across the aisle lies a nine-month-old baby, James, the eighth child of Agnes Awila, a refugee from northern Uganda.

"The food is not enough, my children eat only once a day. If there's no food what do you feed them?" she asks.

James, Hellen and thousands of other refugees in Kakuma depend on the UN's World Food Programme (WFP) for vital sustenance.

But the agency had to drastically reduce its aid operations in many countries after President Donald Trump announced sweeping cuts to US foreign aid programmes earlier this year, as part of his "America First" policy.

The US had provided around 70% of the funding for the WFP's operations in Kenya.

The WFP says that as a result of the cuts, the agency has had to slash the refugees' rations to 30% of the minimum recommended amount a person should eat to stay healthy.

"If we have a protracted situation where this is what we can manage, then basically we have a slowly starving population," says Felix Okech, the WFP's head of refugee operations in Kenya.
Meanwhile, U.S. farmers have been plowing over crops because there's nobody to pick them.

I'm sure Stephen Miller is creaming his jeans over this.

Doesn't change the facts or the optics of her bouncers manhandling him violently in public.
I'm wondering about how it's going to go for them if he decides not to let the matter drop.

He'd told them who he was, loud and clear, before they even got him out of the room. So when they got the senator out to the corridor and then chose to force him to the floor and cuff him, that was, what, their spontaneous decision to teach him some manners? Put him in his place? Intimidate the uppity senator into not interrupting their boss's show again?

I won't believe it unless Padilla confirms it and the incident still shows that The Regime does not care for the 1st ammendment.

I"m sure they were just "treating a brown person the way the deserve to be treated."

The guy looked Mexican. That's enough for the dog-shooter's heavies.

I'm sure Stephen Miller could not give a flying ◊◊◊◊ about anyone or anything but ensuring his Nazification program is enacted by Trump.
