Trump's Second Term

Apparently it's not The USA wanting to take Greenland, it's Greenland wanting to join the USA.
If the people of Greenland want their territory to join America then America should accept them.

Trump has a solution:
Is it possible to put tariffs on intra-USA trade ?

I can see states (like California) putting in place standards and inspections which makes it more difficult for other states to ship goods, but actual honest to goodness tariffs don't sound possible.

Of course for Trump, tariffs are the solution to everything whether it's a slowing economy, a burgeoning deficit, raging forest fires or misplaced car keys.

Of course it is. Trump has power to do anything now. The Supreme Court will back this for national security. Some of those fires will spread to neighboring states!

Lucky for Musk he makes Teslas in Texas.

Section 9 of the Constitution is pretty explicit about this. It's probably a bit extreme to declare the Constitution unconstitutional. Or it was. These days you can't count on much.

Both of those places contain a lot of people of an "ethnic disposition" so Trump may be less eager to acquire them for the US.

He may change his mind about Greenland when he finds out how few of Greenland's inhabitants are ethnically Danish.
Greenland is right next to Canada, the USA's newest state. And they are not brown. Or Jewish. So the should be happy the worlds best real estate developer is going to build apartments there.

Trump has a solution:
Is karireports like the Onion? I can find nothing to support that Trump has said anything about tariffs on Calif. Not that he's not stupid enough to actually say something that dumb.

I also find no reference to Trump putting tariffs on California. Not to say he wouldn't think it a grand idea but no news of it. Plenty of articles on how the tariffs he did propose will be especially hard on California, but that's something else. Trying to fact check rumors about Trump is getting a little Poe-like. Nothing is so preposterous that it can be dismissed without checking.

The Greenland "gambit" is, IMO, about influencing this years Elections in the Danish province, and to extort extra rights to extraction in the Greenland zone - as with everything Trump does, he starts out with a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ insane demand in order to extract concession on the actual deal.

I would not be at all surprised if the idiot thinks Greenland is next door to Doonbeg.

Trump's inauguration guest list tells us something about his presidency

Confirmed so far

President Xi Jinping
Argentinean President Javier Milei
Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni
El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele
Viktor Orban
Eric Zemmour leader of the French Reconquête party
Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro

Probably a bonus for MAGA voters, but it will be daily Trump for 2 years straight. Then maybe only every other day as he spends the rest of the term either dying or golfing. This is a good job for Hegseth: restore the confederacy. He could do worse things.

It is like the Onion. There was a predecessor back in 2010. In that version Kari made up a story about two garbage collectors. The newbie collector was too interested in garbage from people. The older guy showed him: unless there is a 20 dollar bill on top, do not look at garbage. The Onion ripped off Kari with a similar story. I asked Kari. He was very proud of it. Kari must be Finnish. That is, I refer to the guy as a he. In Norwegian it is a female name.

It seems NPR will be a target of Musk's DOGE.

He says of NPR "Taxpayer money should not be used to fund propaganda"

That two hour feature on local Jazz artists certainly radicalised the kids!

MAGA is white supremacy. fElon is a white supremacist. The disagreement is on how to treat non-white people. Do they deport them all, or keep them as (practically) indentured servants?

It would seem that the GOP is content with either of those options - or perhaps a mix - but they'd prefer it if there was less squabbling in the process of deciding what the preferred position is.

Don't forget when the Republicans attacked Mister Rogers, calling him an evil influence on children.

What? No invite in spirit for Mussolini, Hitler, and Stalin?

So, it turns out that most of the Nuuk locals that were wined and dined by fredo, and expressing enthutiasm for the US buying Greenland, were vulnerable people who usually hang out in front of the local Brugseni supermarket across the street from the hotel the event took place at.

As one local put it, they can barely afford a daily meal, and now they were being treated to dinner at a restaurant they could never afford in their wildest dreams, and all it took was putting on a red maga cap.
It's difficult to imagine a more apt description of a ◊◊◊◊ hole with a 1% overclass than your description of Greenland as it stands today.

You're so busy hating Trump that it never occurs to you that you're indicting Denmark of crimes against humanity.

Putin has not confirmed the invitation?

Denmark is literally allowing a population of people who can barely afford a daily meal, at the same time allowing an exclusive restaurant right across the street. But somehow Trump is the villain here?
Sure. Why didn't Fredo buy them some food for their families at the supermarket. He could afford that, but it never occurred to him. Taking a bunch of poor locals to a four-star restaurant is his way of saying "I'm so much bigger and richer than you".

As to "barely affording a daily meal", in Trump's USA, soon people will be definitely NOT be able to afford a daily meal. But certainty is comfort, I guess.

I suggest you stop spinning before you get nauseated.

Trump is the villain because "As one local put it, they can barely afford a daily meal, and now they were being treated to dinner at a restaurant they could never afford in their wildest dreams, and all it took was putting on a red maga cap."
