Trump's Second Term

I suppose there's going to be a lot less trucks on the road so not as many truckers needed.
Get rid of the ones with the wrong accent.

How will the Teamsters take it when their members start getting fired?

Shouldn't presidents also be able to speak English? Like, at a higher than fourth grade level?

Pissing off truckers sounds like such a great way to win elections.
Which makes me worry that they've got something planned for '26 and '28. They're just being too careless with how many of their supporters they alienate.

I'm sure that the polls his handlers are putting in front of him show 70%+ support.

Funny you should say that.
He's been told by the Great Pollster John McLaughlin, one of the most highly respected in the industry that the polls are FAKE!
These people should be investigated for ELECTION FRAUD

Donald J. Trump
@realDonald Trump
Great Pollster John McLaughlin, one of the most highly respected in the industry, has just stated that The Failing New York Times Poll, and the ABC/Washington Post Poll, about a person named DONALD J. TRUMP, ME, are FAKE POLLS FROM FAKE NEWS ORGANIZATIONS. The New York Times has only 37% Trump 2024 voters, and the ABC/Washington Post Poll has only 34% Trump Voters, unheard of numbers unless looking for a negative result, which they are. These people should be investigated for ELECTION FRAUD, and add in the FoxNews Pollster while you're at it. They are Negative Criminals who apologize to their subscribers and readers after I WIN ELECTIONS BIG, much bigger than their polls showed I would win, loose a lot of credibility, and then go on cheating and lying for the next cycle, only worse. They suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome, and there is nothing that anyone, or anything, can do about it. THEY ARE SICK, almost only write negative stories about me no matter how well I am doing (99.9% at the Border, BEST NUMBER EVER!), AND ARE TRULY THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE! I wish them well, but will continue to fight to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Truckers overwhelmingly voted for Trump and they are going to be hit hard in a few months when Chinese goods stop coming to the US. Maybe they can assemble iPhones instead?

Free access with NO BORDER. ALL POSITIVES WITH NO NEGATIVES."

I wonder if he realizes the U.S.-Mexico border is also an artificially drawn line from many years ago.

And please note, he is now calling Fox News polls "fake" as well.

Yes, see my post above, it has his 'statement' on the matter. All the polls are fake and illegal election interference.

I've said it many times before: There will be no free and fair elections in the U.S. in '26 and '28, and maybe never. They either will not take place at all (probably due to a "national emergency"), or they will be rigged.

All Truckers must speak English. New EO on the way

"We're gonna ensure that our truckers, who are the backbone of our policy, are all able to speak English" -- Leavitt says Trump will sign an order demanding that all truckers can speak English

"Hemos perdido nuestras licencias; ¡Tendremos que dejar estos montones de productos perecederos a un lado de la carretera!"

I'm trying to decipher what he means by election interference. What election? No one is running for any office that has anything to do with the polls. If he runs ins 2028, which legally he can't, is that was he means. However, we've all seen how little law and the constitution means to him. Or is he just replaying one of his greatest hits. He can't dispute the polls, so as a reflex he's screaming interference?

They'll be unemployed when the president's (the manchild with the cars, not the one with the hamberders) driverless trucks take over anyway.

All polls are election polls, to him. They're all the ones we all tracked endlessly in the months leading to election, showing who we'd vote for. At best he could be convinced it's like Nielsen ratings on tv shows, but that fails to fully convey what a tanking approval rating is.....we can't cancel the show, we can't change channels. If disapproval goes high enough it'll mean that people are becoming violent, not that new episodes of the show are put on hold until the focus groups come up with changes.

I think he means last year's election. It sounds as if he's accusing the press of deliberately publishing fraudulent polls to fool the voters into thinking he was unpopular.

Whereas he won the vote by a completely unprecedented landslide. Might have been 93-94% I'm not sure but people are sayin'. They ought to be in jail for their crazy lies. Literally every man woman and child in the nation voted for Trump. Most of them more than once.

There was a video recently of Trump signing an Executive Order. It had something to do with colleges, and the presenter was attempting to explain to Trump what was in the order, to very little effect.

I never believed in the “Deep State”, but in this case there’s certainly someone or some group “behind the curtain” preparing these orders with little or no feedback or comprehension by Trump. Which I find very, very scary.

"Deep State" is not the term for that. Deep State refers to, in short, influential government employees/military figures secretly controlling the government from the shadows. The right wing has made a bunch of hullabaloo about the Deep State in their usual much ado about nothing to distract from the mountain of actual bad/utterly incompetent deeds done by them and their supporters way.

In reality, lobbyists are the usual source of things like that. There truly is an argument to be make that experts should have real say in relevant policy-making. That experts will tend to be employed by organizations in ways that create conflicts of interest is often left unsaid. There's also fair arguments that lobbying is an important part of helping the government to prioritize and handle the myriad of issues that a country faces. That it can also be abused to push unreasonability, insanity, and corruption is the dark side of that, though. Trump's extreme unfitness as President is a big boon for those seeking to push unreasonability, insanity, and corruption, unfortunately.

Truckers overwhelmingly voted for Trump and they are going to be hit hard in a few months when Chinese goods stop coming to the US. Maybe they can assemble iPhones instead?

A few months? I seem to have heard that the last current ship is likely to arrive May 10th?

While I could likely use a lot of words and make a somewhat reasonable case for what's going on there, I would suggest that it's completely not worth anyone's time to go beyond the assumption that Trump's being a gibbering fool who is just reusing his inane defense as part of the psychological warfare strategy where repeating a lie often enough can get large numbers of people to believe it.

I've seen reports that the Seattle port is empty, that the last West Coast ship arrives in early May and the May 10th ship docking in the East Coast. I still see some semis out on the freeways late at night, but it's going to start hitting next month. Happy Birthday to me.

Bessent on if he's concerned about empty shelves: "Not at present. We have some great retailers. I assume they preordered."

What ignorant twaddle. Perishable goods must be ordered, shipped, and delivered on a just-in-time basis. And increasingly, non-perishable goods are handled similarly because the stability, efficiency, and speed of the global supply chain has enabled JIT delivery nearly across the board. This saves on warehouse space and expense and makes goods cheaper for the consumer. That what smart retailers did.

Pres. Trump destroyed all that in just a few weeks.

I guess he missed all the empty shelves, unemployed people, and economic chaos during covid.

What are we doing tonight, Donald?

What can anyone expect? Bessent doesn't know ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ dick about the economy! ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ investor and hedge fund manager, never had a real job in his life, knows nothing about day-to-day business management!

This has been the case for decades. Trump's understanding of legal process, even a rudimentary understanding, is low to nil. He just wants stuff done how he thinks it should be done and ignores reality. He is living the movie version of Vito Corleone in his head. And his head is clearly demented.

Meanwhile, it's his so-called lieutenants who are guiding his actions and thoughts, and many of them are not well-connected with reality either. It has been obvious that Trump just echoes back out loud in public whatever fantasies they whisper in his ear in private. That's why he is such a great ventriloquist dummy.

And driving them is Project 2025, a religio-fascist fanatics' dream come true.

Well, diet Coke is American. And nutraseet is still cheap. Trump and RFK Jr just eat fried chicken. Nothing perishable that is not washed with bleach and frozen first.

I disagree. Free and fair elections will be held in Blue and some Purple states in 2026. Then if the wrong people win they won't be seated in the House or Senate and the governors threatened with arrest.
You are correct about 2028 and beyond.

Well, Trump only just learned what "groceries" are. It's a different world, where he lives. And unfortunately the rest of us will go hungry long before he has to.
Well, he heard somewhere that grocery is a thing that is a mixed bag.
Soo good for some (maga and his cronies) and bad for others (the rest of the US population)

Any day now, Trump is going to something worse than we could imagine. He has to. There is no way to normalcy. There is no way back.
I agree, he has to stay as the main story every day and has to keep ramping things up to keep it going.

Well, he signed the not at all martial law EO today, so how's he gonna top that tomorrow?

Just to give a bit more context to the "Christian" part of the Republican Agenda, -

Rev. William Barber arrested in Capitol Rotunda after praying against Republican-led budget (RNS) — While arrests of protesters at the Capitol is not unusual, the response to Barber’s prayer was unusually dramatic: After issuing verbal warnings, dozens of officers expelled everyone in the Rotunda — including credentialed press.

In defense of the ejection part of that -

Reached for comment, a Capitol police spokesperson said Barber and two others were charged with “crowding, obstructing and incommoding,” explaining demonstrations in congressional buildings are “not allowed in any form, to include but not limited to sitting, kneeling, group praying, singing, chanting, etc.”

The spokesperson also said the Rotunda is “not a dedicated press area unless it’s for a pre-approved event.”

To add more context to that, though -

The police response to the group’s actions on Monday contrasted sharply with another worship service in the same space in March 2023, when far-right musician and activist Sean Feucht led an evening worship service that included participation from lawmakers such as Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.). Unlike Barber’s prayer service, Feucht’s took place in the evening after most people had left the Capitol, and whether or not it was sanctioned is unclear: Feucht has claimed to have “snuck in” to the Rotunda to hold worship on multiple occasions, but Capitol Police declined to specify whether the specific incident was permitted.

However, Feucht’s event was significantly longer than Barber’s brief prayer session, and while police occasionally spoke with participants, no one was arrested.

Right wingers don't like the part of Christianity that actually follows the more caring of New Testament teachings.

Republicans have always been very concerned about improper usage of the Capitol building.
