Trump's Second Term

Is there any way that, on Day One of the new MAGA Congress, the Democrats all sit down and demand the Repubs IMMEDIATELY produce Donny's health care plan so they can vote on it? Right there, right now. No diversions, please produce the Great Trumpian Health Care Plan. Now. We. Are. Waiting. You've had four years to prepare it. The Republicans and Trump said there are concepts of a plan...somewhere (in the back corner of Trump's empty head among the hair roots??) So where is it? No, no, we'll get to prosecuting the J6 Committee AFTER this - health care is FAR more important for all Americans. So where is it? By the way, you're on TV...

Umm. If it's anything like last time, though, that would be rather hard to do if no Speaker is chosen and that's not even an option by the end of the first day.

The national archives might want to put the original constitution document under 24 hour guard.

Trump may actually think all he has to do is cross out the 14th amendment with a sharpie to change the constitution.

I'm only partially joking.

How far back does this negation of birthright citizenship extend? For example, if your grandfather was an illegal immigrant, and your father and then you were born in the USA, are you a US citizen? Or more importantly, are you liable for deportation under Trump's plan?
It depends on the colour of your skin and the size of your bank account. If you're a WASP with a couple of million you'll be ok, otherwise you're Sierra Oscar Lima.

Even if it was applied retrospectively, Trump's children would be US citizens by dint of him being a citizen (if his mother was a citizen at the time of his birth, his paternal grandfather's immigration status would be irrelevant).

In any case as Darat clearly implied, the duskier the hue, the bigger the problem.

If his mother was a US citizen he'd be fine.
T****y's mother was also an illegal immigrant as is his current wife.

How are they going to legislate that? I mean...do you really think they will put a "rich white folks are excepted" clause into these laws? How do you define "white" in such cases? What about "swarthy"? And there's plenty of rich black folks out there. Also, LOTS of rich Republicans and MAGAnuts are black. And many of their ancestors came to the USA on dubious legality when the rules were a lot different.

The question really is: How far back down a family tree, if at all, is this assessment for deportation of an illegal immigrant going to apply. Trump wants ALL the family deported if just one is an illegal immigrant. So what is "all the family" here? Who are they saying is the culprit(s)?

That's news to me, and also to Snopes who have the claim as "Unproven"

The fact that Mary Anne MacLeod was both an immigrant and later a naturalized citizen is not controversial. There is ample documentation (discussed above, and in myriad other passenger manifests) that she entered and left the United States with the required visas multiple times throughout the 1930s with no documented problems.

As the article says:

Any lasting controversy on this topic boils down to a 1940 census document which lists Mary as being both the wife of Frederick Trump as well as a naturalized citizen, despite the fact that she was not granted citizenship until 1942. That document (behind a paywall), which has an "X" next to her name indicating that she was the one providing the census with her family's information, has the letters "Na" entered in the citizenship status box, indicating "naturalized":

While we can provide no explanation for the discrepancy, there is no evidence to suggest that Mary Anne was in violation of any immigration laws at any time prior to her naturalization in 1942, as she frequently traveled internationally but was able to re-enter the U.S. afterwards.

Unless of course you have other evidence to support your claim.

Just like their German predecessors they probably won't put any of it into law. It'll be just given euphamistically with a nod and a wink.

PS there were plenty of rich German jews who were willing to throw their weight behind the nazis too, right up until they realised that the nazis were coming after them too.

They won't need any nuance in the laws. They can, and will try to, pass something that just says "illegal immigrants" in the law. It is all about enforcement, they all know it just means the brown people and any white immigrants that protest it.

Does Trump have eyes on Canada?

Donald J. Trump
@realDonald Trump
It was a pleasure to have dinner the other night with Governor Justin Trudeau of the Great State of Canada. I look forward to seeing the Governor again soon so that we may continue our in depth talks on Tariffs and Trade, the results of which will be truly spectacular for all! DJT

Canada as the 51st state has been a bit of meme in RWNJ circles lately, and trump has previously acknowledged it (see that AI rendered photo he truthed out, Matterhorn or not), so I wouldn't be surprise if it's a reference to that.

I mean, in his first term, trump in full seriousness asked the Danish prime minister how much it would cost to buy Greenland. It led to a bit of diplomatic spat to say the least.

How about if the U.S. becomes a province of Canada instead?

Well, yes. But my question is actually how far back down any family tree are these racial bailiffs going to look for defaulters. If my dad was an illegal immigrant, does that mean I am too even though I was born in the USA? How about if my grandfather was an illegal? Where do they stop?

Oh, that's simple. If you're a Trump supporter, then clearly your family has fully acclimated to the US and you would be allowed to stay.

Otherwise . . .

Understood. But there are plenty of black and Latino Trump supporters. Their "illegal" votes gave him the White House. Reckon these useful idiots are expendable now?

Definitely, they will be considered casualties of the mass deportation program. "I can't believe this is happening to us, we voted for him...."

Any person or company investing ONE BILLION DOLLARS, OR MORE, in the United States of America, will receive fully expedited approvals and permits, including, but in no way limited to, all Environmental approvals. GET READY TO ROCK!!!

As I've done my family's genealogy in depth, I can attest to the fact that the census takers were the ones who filled in the information and would often get that information from someone in the household not necessarily well-informed. Mary Anne Trump's citizenship status was likely due to someone in the household who was giving the information who thought she was already a citizen, or the census taker just made a mistake. I couldn't find my great-grandfather's info for a long time on one census because both his first name and surname had been horribly misspelled by the census taker.

I guess these clowns never heard that maiking Canada a state has been treid twice and did not work.
Actually, it was making it the 14th colony in the invasion Of Canada in 1775/76 (the mian invasion foece was led, ironically enough, by Benedict Arnold) and then there was the War of 1812.
It is the US that Canada is standing guard against in their National Anthem.......
