I think you would be surprised just how many businesses emply "illegals".
Which indicated there is a need for them in the economy.
To be frank, they do jobs that Good White Americans don't want to do.

And that is the problem I have with MAGA the bigotry. If all the illegals were whites from Canada and Europe, we would not even be having this discussion.

It's their tendency to label ALL immigrants, or indeed all brown people, as "illegals" that singles them out.

Nope. To quote a certain person They do the work the gueros wouldn't do. To which I personally attest; back before staffing was done by an outside agency, I did much logistics hiring , and I can tell you, very few non-hispanics filled out applications. The HR department did the background checks, but I suspect they weren't very thorough. The owner's hand got slapped once, and about 60 associates lost their jobs. No one in HR lost their jobs though. I wonder how much the owner was fined but I don't think it was much because he would've sent out an ill-advised blanket e-mail bitching about it.

Meanwhile, where are all the good ol' Americans whose jobs these "illegals" have supposedly stolen? Aren't they going to take back these, their gawd-given jobs now? They will be available again soon enough. Surely in these tough, Democrat-wrecked times, a paid job is a godsend? So what's stopping them?

I don't see a problem with the way things were before 3 weeks ago. The only change I would have made is a better path to citizenship.

I think that's the only way out. Migrant labor is prolific and they are employed across a large swath of industries and agriculture. There is a way to do it but it won't occur during Trump's reign. He's demonized Hispanics with his virulent racism for so long, there's no going back.

Unfortunately, there's a whole bunch of U.S. voters who, inspired by Donnie Diapers' racism, don't want to go back, and don't give a ◊◊◊◊ about paths to citizenship. Maybe Trump turning the U.S. into a third world ◊◊◊◊ hole will cause reverse migration.

The U.S. needs more young people. Oh, I just figured it out. They are trying to delay or reverse demographic changes. It is projected that in 20 years white people will be a minority in the U.S. The people who care about that are largely white supremacists. George W. Bush and John McCain "got" immigration. They tried to sell their vision to the Republican base and McCain was reviled for it. Bush was on his way out and didn't catch much flak.

The people at McCain's 2008 election night party showed their true colors when McCain conceded. He said something nice about Obama and was booed. I realized there were a bunch of crass a-holes in the party. Tom Tancredo tanked on a platform of limiting immigration, revoking birthright citizenship and the usual whiny crap about America changing. He didn't get anywhere. I was so relieved. I thought maybe we were past that. Yes, America is changing, how can we address that in a realistic, orderly way?

I do not use the term "white supremacism" lightly but it's getting pretty obvious that's the engine driving the current nonsense - even if only subconsciously. Many white Americans are afraid, deathly afraid of becoming an ethnic minority. I understand their fear. They seem impervious to facts. But sometimes they find themselves living next door to Haitians, Mexicans, Guatemalans and they realize they are just people trying to get by and provide for their families, and they soften considerably. But Trump - and all the GOP members of Congress - are riding high on that fear and they will fan the flame as much as they have to. I hope some ingrained racism will eventually fall away. Maybe it has to happen on a person by person basis.

Actully it won't take twenty years..more like ten from what I have read.
But yeah, it is all about maintaing white supremacy. And it is going to fail only question is how bad will it be in the meantime.
I think some it is that Hispanic areno living larger numbers in states other the Border states, there are now large hispanic minorieties in the Midwest and the South, and that is truly scary to some people.
In California, for instance, we are used to hearing Spanish being spoken on the streets, guess that wourld freak out somebody from Iowa.

That's my feeling too. I have empathy for these folks - many of them are driven by an instinctual fear of "the other." There are people I love who support Trump - people who have a lot of kindness in them, but think illegal immigrants are somehow getting a free ride, being put up in luxury hotels etc. It's not reality, but it works, for a while. Just like hoaxes about Haitians eating pet cats work, for a while. Anything to stir up resentment. When the dust settles maybe some people will realize how many lies they have uncritically accepted, but it has to come from them. You can't TELL people anything, their life experience will inform their views.
