The Weinstein Brothers: Nobel-Prize Level Scientists or Self-Aggrandizing Woosters?

It's probably my own quirk, but the one that bugs me the most is his anti-immigration stance.

Yeah, that did jump out at me as well. There seem to be some themes here. Basic bog-standard New World Order crap, but also a right-wing slant to a lot of it.

Yeah, the two brothers have continued to say weird things about the pandemic.

There has been a schism between Bret, in particular, and Quillette's editor, Claire Lehmann, who has had enough of Bret's anti-vaxx nonsense. That's interesting because Quillette has for a while been a kind of IDW publication.

Now Bret and Heather refer to something called "medically woke".

Also, Bret had someone on his podcast from Australia to talk about the vaccine mandates. Bret here compares the Australian policy to the Holocaust.

Bret just completely continues the slide to full-on Alex Jones territory. In fact, you can see by many of the responses that he is attracting Alex's fanbase in a big way. The grift continues and he has almost doubled his Twitter following since I started this thread.

Even down to messing up his references and mixing fiction and reality just like Alex does. No Bret, Logan’s Run cannot keep proper company with Kafka, since Logan’s Run was a movie and Franz Kafka was a dude.

That tweet was for law enforcement only!

I wonder if he has actually directly contacted anyone in law enforcement or if he just assumes in his fevered imagination that they will be reading his tweets: “Chief! Eric Weinstein, the genius scientist, has a lead for us for cracking this case! Get me Colombo!”

I will bet that it won’t be long before he is musing that the shooter is some kind of false flag plant designed to take down the IDW.

Meanwhile, Bret says Twitter has “declared war on the general public and scientific method” by suspending the account of a spreader of anti-vaxx propaganda, who also claims to be the inventor of the mRNA vaccine, Robert Malone (the truth is that Robert Malone was once involved in some of the pioneering work that eventually led to the vaccine but hardly the sole inventor; apparently the lack of recognition has embittered him and led to him pouring scorn on the vaccines and of course Bret eats up anything anti-vaxx).

Never fear, Joe Rogan is going to put him on his podcast….:covereyes

Bret Weinstein and his wife surmise that Omicron was made in a lab as a way to "bring Earth back to normal".

He says that IF his theory is true:

a) "They" took a massive gamble which they have no right to do.
b) Maybe it has a "kill switch" in it.

Apparently they are separate from each other because Heather might have got Covid (though it is difficult to trust either of these any more on anything).

Heather also says that she used to be into kale "before it was cool" and now she won't eat it because it is trendy.

Not to be ouotdone, Eric is now sharing stuff from Project Veritas and tweeting at DARPA, no less, asking if what James O'Keefe has put out is true or not (presumably their silence speaks volumes).

Link

Now he is responding to people are laughing at him for doing so. His argument is taking the "nothing Project Veritas says can be taken seriously" as literally as possible.

What if Alex Jones said "2+3=5"? Huh? What about that, skeptics?

lack of recognition

Concerning Robert Malone, the author of For Better Science wrote, "One thing I learned in a previous career is that although money, and blackmail, and ideology can all cause someone to betray their oaths to county and turn into an intelligence asset for the other side, a major risk factor is thwarted self-esteem: resentment at a perceived lack of recognition. People who feel deprived of the credit that they think they deserve will gravitate to new friends who do at least pretend to respect them sufficiently." One wonders if this passage might also apply to the Weinstein's.

It sounds spot on to me.

Maybe the Black Hebrew Israelites will heckle them.

So is Weinstein generally anti-vaccine now, as associating with Robert Kennedy, Jr would suggest? That is strange.

A Dream Team of anti-vaxx grifters...

Anticipate a lot of petty clashes and maybe some violence when these CHUDs are confronted by the DC vax mandate for restaurants.

To be honest, it might be a good idea for businesses near the protest path to close for the day. Normal DC people probably aren't going to want to mingle with such a crowd, so there's probably not going to be much money to be made anyway.

Does DC have strict rules about vaccine mandates or masking for restaurants?

I can imagine some of the speakers riling up the crowd. Somehow I can also imagine Bret just sending a video message from his wooden room, but if he does turn up will he and his wife be heading out to some fancy organic restaurant? (Presumably one that doesn’t serve kale as Heather used to eat it all the time before it was popular but not won’t touch the stuff!)

He sure is. Their anti-covid-vaccine-only message has embraced the complete lunacy of HIV/AIDS denialists, anti-thimerisol types like RFK Jr., you name it. Just asking questions, you see.

Note that Bret is pictured top left as the most prominent person there, stroking his huge ego.

They've very recently started requiring proof of vaccination for indoor restaurants, bars, entertainment, convention halls, gyms, and other similar venues.

Yeah. Bret was basically trying to position himself as merely concerned about these particular vaccines. He did some videos merely pointing out that it is wrong to categorically say vaccines are “completely safe” as there are risks such as Bell’s palsy and anaphylaxis. Then he fell in with the ivermectin types, met up with “inventor of mRNA vaccines” Robert Malone and pretty hard-core anti-vaxxer, Steve Kirsch (who claimed that vaccines make babies heads split open in the womb and destroy women’s ovaries). For a while, Bret seemed to limit his concerns to mRNA vaccines, but his championing of Geert VanDenBosche’s theory that a mass vaccination program will have some kind of similar effect on the virus to anti-biotics on bacterial superbugs, means that he was in effect saying that he was against mass vaccination in any way. Similarly, I notice that he is now attacking Peter Hotez on Twitter when Hotez has created a new vaccine using older technology that can be exported around the world to poorer countries and doesn’t depend on big pharma profits (in other words a vaccine that has some of the benefits of pphx ivermectin if it actually worked against Covid).

So he’s against vaccines in general. Malone and McCullough have both been spreading their nonsense on Infowars and yet Bret had them both on to talk with him. Malone praised Peter Duesberg (HIV to AIDS denialist) and RFK Jr on Rogan, McCollough also praised RFK Jr and says he is the most cited doctor in RFK’s anti-Fauci tome as if that is a good thing. He was talking up someone called Pam Popper, a Covid-denying naturopath who claims Covid is a hoax. They have Ryan Long up there who basically claims MMR causes autism (he’s a fan of Wakefield and Mercola). This is not the first time many of these people have been associating together - Kory, Malone and Cole in particular have been spreading their crap together so they all know what each other believes.

So Bret is unequivocally an anti-vaxxer at this point (there is evidence that he was at least anti-vaxx friendly way back before he was famous judging by some response to Bill Maher expressing vaccine skepticism in the past).

Anyway, he is a truly unreliable kook at this point.

He's a certified narcissist. I was willing to be charitable to Weinstein with the hardship that his school put him through years ago. But he took that as an opportunity to jump-start his grift.

LOL! So today is the big day of the March and where is the headline speaker, Bret Weinstein? He’s staying at home in his wooden box like a big chicken? Why?

Well, if there is a “false flag” incident someone needs to be at home to tell people what really happened!

Errrrm what? That’s it. That’s his excuse. You know, if this March turns into something like January 6th it will be the Establishment forces apparently that make it happen like that.

Also, if it is not well attended that will also turn out to be Establishment meddling etc…

Anyway, Robert Kennedy Jr is there doing a speech and saying that in the future, you won't be able to run and hide like Ann Frank did in the Holocaust.

Did Bret Weinstein finally realize that it would be bad optics to be hanging around with this douchebag?

Weinstein Bros fight!

Well, Eric seems to have finally been persuaded by the TOGETHER Trial that when it comes to Ivermectin there's no there there.

Bret's reply is only intelligible to those who are fluent in Weinstein-ese.

Consider the DISC, Bret warns! (The DISC is a term that Eric uses for the Distributed Idea Suppression Complex - i.e the scientific establishment that was put in place to prevent geniuses like Bret and Eric from winning Nobel prizes and suppressing the real truth about ivermectin)...

Note GIN! (Another Ericism that means Gated Institutional Narrative).

These terms basically allow Bret and Eric to claim that their major contributions to science, if not taken seriously, are simply the victims of conspiracy theory. Essentially, their followers do so believing that all evidence against Bret and Eric's positions are merely evidence for the DISC and the GIN. It is really cult-like.

So, it is quite interesting to see Eric publicly depart from Bret on IVM, though.

You may all apologize now to Eric.

Thanks. I knew about his personal definition of DISC (an acronym with many other meanings), but "GIN" had me googling.

Oh, looks like Bret has an idea.

The abortion ban is the fault of the left... because of transgender issues... or something.

To be fair, the "trans people made the fascists be fascists" is a pretty common take for faux-liberal transphobes.

I wonder will the Usual Suspects be leaping to support him as a great defender of women from exploitation?

And of course explain away his Covid-19 denialism and pseudo-science, the apologetic for the right-wing coup attempt and his (and his wife's) terribly silly book.

Though perhaps blaming his inability to operate a camera on "external influences" from the Fukushima nuclear incident is more challenging.

So, still self-aggrandising woosters.

This is basically the Covid-19 Truth Movement.

It is exacly as insane as the 9/11 Truth Movement, and Bret Weinstein is essentially the figure-head.

Look who else is there. Not just Pierre Kory and Robert Malone, but also Robert Kennedy Jr and Del Bigtree and... oh look... Dr John Campbell!

The Great Conjunction is at hand.

At the "Betterway" Conference, Dr John Campbell (remember him?) addresses a group of anti-vaxxers including old school vaccines-cause-autism Del Bigtree, and new-school IDW anti-vaxxer and ivermectin evangelist, Bret Weinstein.

Holy crap. As much as Cambbell has gone down the rabbit hole in the last year, Dr. Susan Oliver has lost my respect after her last video. And she had some great takedowns of some of Campbell's nuttier vids. She highlights a table that contains both the extremely unlikely and the impossible. Did she skip her stats class or what?

I've parsed the people I respect taking out those that have highlighted that pathetic study. Apparently there are more people completely ignorant about stats than I had assumed.

What? Say it aint so! Which one? I haven't kept up with her vids recently.

But as for Campbell, appearing at a who's who of anti-vax convention must be the nail in the coffin for his respectability.

Susan's video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZvK7MSQ5pQ

Check out the chart at 3:50, which is the whole thrust of her video.

The right hand column purports to claim that Omicron is nearly exactly the same virulence as the three prior waves. Now look at the "n" mortality values in those waves. They vary from 64 to 313. The improbable is that, after correcting for confounders, the point numbers all come out to within 1% of each other. If, in fact, virulence was identical, one would expect more variation with those small numbers. But OK, improbable happens.

The impossible are the CIs. To get CI's so tiny would need n mortality values up around 10,000. I don't know what crazy stuff they did to post those CIs but they are quite simply impossible. And these guys are Harvard peeps.

This "study" has been surprisingly widely quoted. Even called a large, definitive, study. When I first heard reports about it, I thought it would be an interesting and informative study. Then I saw those point numbers and associated CIs. What the hell is going on with education today?
