Sure, Black and white evangelical strands differ, but it is a little odd to call only one of them "evangelical" as if only it counted as such.black evangelical and evangelical are two differing strands within US christianity.
It's a common habit of some fundamentalist sects to call themselves "Christian" to distinguish themselves from Catholics, Episcopalians, Methodists and Quakers and all those other degenerates, but it's ideologically charged if you are from one of those sects, and uninformative if you aren't. I would suggest it is similar if you exclude the subsets from any set.
