Yeeaah No.

I don't know why so many people in this thread believes 51% or more of the electorate is outright stupid.

40% is incredibly sad. But Trump is incompetent and some stupid last minute con isn't going to cut it.

Trump lost the popular vote by 3 million votes. That's a hell of a lot. He only won the Electoral College by a small margin. Biden hasn't suffered decades of political attacks like Clinton has. Bernie learned his lesson (or I think he did) and he didn't attack Biden like he attacked Biden.

There is a scandal about Hunter Biden's earning money on his father's name. But Trump can't really use that considering he's put his daughter in a WH job. He can try, but it won't be an effective Oct surprise.

All this doomsaying because Trump was successful as a con man 4 years ago is silly. His base might remain conned. But that middle swing vote is not. His incompetent handling of the COVID crisis is not going to be assuaged because a vaccine is ready by October. And it won't be distributed to the masses right away. The first doses will go to health care workers. After that it's high risk people next. By then (using the most optimistic vaccine schedule) we'll be well past the election.

Sure, his 40% might credit Trump for fast-tracking the vaccine. But everyone else including the important middle/swing vote will see the vaccine is being developed around the world without any special intervention by Trump.

President Trump doesn't need 51%, he just needs around 45% of the votes that people are able to, or are willing to, cast.

Even if "only" 40% of people approve of him, if turnout among that 40% is significantly higher than it is among the electorate in general then he can easily get 45% of the votes cast.

We've seen a million, mostly poor, ex-felons disenfranchised (or more accurately not re-enfranchised) in Florida and that's just the tip of the GOP roll-purging. Throw in a healthy dose of too few polling stations in Democrat-leaning districts, large-scale throwing out of postal votes from those same districts (to prevent voter fraud ;)), unofficial "security" at polling stations to intimidate minorities and I can see that a significantly lower proportion of non-Trump supporters are able to vote, or to have their vote count.

Thread continued from here.

Why not ? He doesn't need to convince people that he is clean, he just needs to make people suspect that Biden is dirty.

There are a lot of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents who don't like Trump who are looking for a reason, any reason, not to vote for Biden. Even if it only persuades a few thousand people, if they are in the right state(s) it could be the deciding factor.

I think you underestimate how desperate people are for good news regarding Covid-19. IMO the worse the situation is in October, the more people will be desperate for a solution.

40% already approve of his handling of Coronavirus - this news isn't going to affect them - but there may be a sizeable minority of the remaining 60% who might have their view changed by some good news in October - especially if that news is "It's all great, a solution has been found". The real message would be far more nuanced than that, but a lot of people don't have time, or desire, for nuance.

Trump has decided to elucidate on the test he "aced", by describing the last very difficult question. It's exactly what everybody has been saying it is.

I like this from the reply directly below the video

We have a less charismatic Foghorn Leghorn as our leader.

It just goes on and on. What stunts will Trump come up with before November? I wrote a short "biography" of Trump a few weeks back, hoping to spin it toward the comical. But his stunts just keep coming and coming. Had to add a paragraph about his federal troops in the developing entry:

https://esapolitics.blogspot.com/2020/06/donald-trump.html

Other stunts were purely election tricks. Concerned that statues were pulled down and federal buildings were vandalized, Trump sent unspecified federal troops to cities. The number of troops was too small to achieve "law and order" as he stated, but did indeed provoke crowds to more violence and clashes with Trump and Barr provided troops. Trump immediately went to claim that the "far left" was taking over the country. In truth, all cities had plenty of troops to keep order and arrest the worst offenders. Trump had no legal right to send federal troops to do policing. Even the National Guard, when called to disasters, does not arrest people.

Notice how he had to concentrate each time he said them. He eas really worried he'd get them wrong.

Not that he wouldn't have an excuse that Trimpistas wouldn't buy hook, line and sinker.

He's probably been practicing since the Fox interview.

Wouldn't be surprised to see behind the interviewer he had props to remind him!

Liz Cheney is only upset because I have been actively getting our great and beautiful Country out of the ridiculous and costly Endless Wars. I am also making our so-called allies pay tens of billions of dollars in delinquent military costs. They must, at least, treat us fairly!!!

We should all join @realDonaldTrump in advocating to stop our endless wars. Liz Cheney not only wants to stay forever, she’s leading the fight to try to stop him from leaving. Unacceptable.

FWIW, quite a few people in recent weeks who generally like Cheney -- including those not on the Hill -- were extremely disappointed with how she worked so hard to help the NYT spread its false anti-Trump story about Russia bounties.

Liz Cheney has worked behind the scenes (and now in public) against @realDonaldTrump and his agenda.
House Republicans deserve better as our Conference Chair.
Liz Cheney should step down or be removed. #MAGA

I'm fighting for President @realDonaldTrump's #AmericaFirst vision for the Republican party.

Great, but did MAGA have anything to do with this great ratings success?

We did great things, but it doesn’t matter to the Dems!

No matter what @realDonaldTrump did, what he closed down, how many masks he wore, @TheDemocrats were going to use his response to the #coronavirus as a political weapon in 2020.

They were most likely just things he could see at the time.

I wonder how long it took to get Trump to memorize the five words that he used in an example.

The President of the United States keeps impressing us. He drinks water, he walks down ramps, and he remembers his (best) words! Is there anything he can't do?

Wow... talk about a purity test.

The fact is, Cheney has been a pretty faithful republican... voting in favor of almost all republican legislation (including legislation to gut health cair, cut taxes/increase the deficit, and roll back regulations.). In fact, she has voted to support Trump ~96% of the time on legislation she has voted on in congress.

By comparison, Gaetz has supported Trump ~85% of the time, and Rand Paul only 70% of the time.

Not a purity test; a loyalty test.

Listen Trump is just showing us that all us intellectual eggheads with our "facts" aren't as smart as we think we are.
