Cont: The Russian Invasion of Ukraine part 9

I don't think there's any intention of following communist principles in any scenario, communist nostalgia is folded in with Russian nationalism these days, sometimes co-existing with Russian Imperial iconography, Russian Orthodox Christianity etc. On the opposing side in Ukraine you had then of course the symbols of people who fought against Russia.

Putin is perfectly happy for people to use nostalgic communist emblems and hanker for the good old glory days under Stalin.
No. Americans (for example) think that allowing Confederate reminders stand is the same as supporting "the South" and everything it stood for. Sovjet satellite states felt the same way and so Communist monuments were removed. Russia (for the most part) doesn't do that. They (the Russians) are a very proud people who find strength in their historic suffering as proof of their endurance in adversity but they do not dwell on the past as something to cherish. Putin once said, "Those who not feel nostalgia for the USSR have no heart but those who want it back again have no brain".

... the Russian Communist Party is Putin's largest political opponent .
To be fair, that is a very low bar. Opponents who represent a real threat tend to have unfortunate accidents.
I am calling the Russian Communist Party Putin's largest political opponent because that is the way it is being reported. If that is not true then I am listening. As far as "unfortunate accidents" go there is a very dark labyrith of lies coming from the Western MSM to be considered. Who is telling the truth? Who is contributing the proof? Whose logic is most probable? I don't know and I am not willing to say that I do.

Every year, Russia celebrates Stalin and the rest of the Soviet Commy leadership with a massive parade. It is a crime in Russia to insult the memory of Stalin.

May 9 parade? It's a celebration of victory over Nazi germany, stalin and communism isn't at the forefront at all. Though that doesn't make it benign because it has obvious propaganda value with the participation of the various ex-SSRs and others giving it an international character and lending legitimacy to Russia as a member of the international community.

1). If you read the linked article you will know that they are reported as being Communists. 2). If you know anything about the politcal climate in Russia you will know that the Communist Party is Putin's opponent. Now, all you need to do is use common sense and make your own sum.
What linked article? And if you mean the CPRF they supported the invasion of Ukraine

I have moved the posts about European leaders supposedly using cocaine to a thread in conspiracy theories

Russia suffers largest ammunition loss due to mishandling, UK intelligence says.

The U.K. Defense Ministry cited a massive explosion that took place April 22 at the 51st Missile and Artillery Directorate’s ammunition depot near the town of Kirzhach in Russia’s Vladimir Oblast. The blast triggered a large-scale detonation across the storage site

British analysts believe the incident was caused by improper storage of ammunition and recurring safety violations within Russia’s armed forces.

“This aligns with a longstanding trend of Russia being unable to safely manage its own weapons,” the assessment reads.

The blasts at the Russian depot on April 22 likely represent the largest single loss of munitions caused by Russia’s own actions since the start of its full-scale war on Ukraine, the intelligence report notes

ChrisO_Wiki on how the doctrine of "hypercentralism" ie everything being decided by the officer commanding and requiring his personal signature is bogging down the Russian army. Nothing is delegated.
What's needed is... the personal... signature... of the UNIT COMMANDER! For each waybill, for each vehicle of the regiment, which is allowed to drive fast and drive at night - for example, all medical vehicles for evacuation and supply vehicles.

Testimony of a Russian conscript of abduction of children, the usual chaos and shortage of basic supplies and bizarrely
Even more surreal was the fact that his regiment's tank company initially had no tanks. They eventually received armoured vehicles donated by the film company Mosfilm, principally 70-year-old T-55s and PT-76s. (This happened in 2023 but was only reported in November 2024.)

Sky News article on the Ukrainian civilians imprisoned illegally in not only occupied Ukraine, but also remote parts of Russia.

A series of explosions and fires broke out overnight in occupied Crimea following a reported drone strike on Russian military infrastructure near the village of Perevalne,

Crimean Wind reported that an ammunition depot belonging to the 126th Separate Coastal Defense Brigade of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet caught fire during the attack.

In response to the attack, the Russian governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhayev acknowledged air defense activity over the Black Sea. “The loud sounds heard in the city were the work of our military,”

Must have involved a lot of misplaced cigarette butts. :xrolleyes

Um.

Should anyone tell him the most well known example of this?

Russian negotiator in Turkey said

"We don't want war, but we're ready to fight for a year, two, three - however long it takes," lead Russian negotiator Vladimir Medinsky is reported to have said. "We fought Sweden for 21 years. How long are you ready to fight"

Donald is speaking to Putin, the war is as good as over.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
I WILL BE SPEAKING, BY TELEPHONE, TO PRESIDENT VLADIMIR PUTIN OF RUSSIA ON MONDAY, AT 10:00 Α.Μ. THE SUBJECTS OF THE CALL WILL BE, STOPPING THE "BLOODBATH” THAT IS KILLING, ON AVERAGE, MORE THAN 5000 RUSSIAN AND UKRAINIAN SOLDIERS A WEEK, AND TRADE. I WILL THEN BE SPEAKING TO PRESIDENT ZELENSKYY OF UKRAINE AND THEN, WITH PRESIDENT ZELENSKYY, VARIOUS MEMBERS OF NATO.
HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE A PRODUCTIVE DAY, A CEASEFIRE WILL TAKE PLACE, AND THIS VERY VIOLENT WAR, A WAR THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED, WILL END. GOD BLESS US ALL!!!

So he's reset himself to "It will be over in 24 hours". Slow learner.
I've been saying: it's now cycles with Trump. His deliquescing brain gets caught in eddies repeatedly. He just did the "groceries" one, tweeted about "autopen" again, now it's "ending the war". He's down to a few hundred brain cells and the clumps remaining are each dedicated to particular topics. The windmill one, Canada 51st state, Mexico paying for a wall, tariffs, hot daughter, we could probably map them all out and chart their repetition to see if they go in the same order each time around.

Short series of Bluesky posts regarding Ukraine's only female combat pilot.

Donald says Russia want's to do 'large scale trade with the USA' when Ukraine have surrendered.

Just completed my two hour call with President Vladimir Putin of Russia. I believe it went very well. Russia and Ukraine will immediately start negotiations toward a Ceasefire and, more importantly, an END to the War. The conditions for that will be negotiated between the two parties, as it can only be, because they know details of a negotiation that nobody else would be aware of. The tone and spirit of the conversation were excellent. If it wasn't, I would say so now, rather than later. Russia wants to do largescale TRADE with the United States when this catastrophic "bloodbath" is over, and I agree. There is a tremendous opportunity for Russia to create massive amounts of jobs and wealth. Its potential is UNLIMITED. Likewise, Ukraine can be a great beneficiary on Trade, in the process of rebuilding its Country. Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine will begin immediately. I have so informed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, of Ukraine, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, President Emmanuel Macron, of France, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, of Italy, Chancellor Friedrich Merz, of Germany, and President Alexander Stubb, of Finland, during a call with me, immediately after the call with President Putin. The Vatican, as represented by the Pope, has stated that it would be very interested in hosting the negotiations. Let the process begin!

It's amazing. All Trump had to do is tell Putin he can do lots of trade with the US when the war ends and now he can just sit back and watch the war end. A simple matter of Ukraine and Russia tidying up the fine details and the whole thing is done. Who knew it could be so easy? Easy for a super genius businessman like Trump, I guess.
