"America is in the middle of a Cold Civil War between woke revolutionaries—who believe America is and has always been systemically racist (evil), so that it must be deconstructed, de-legitimized (i.e., destroyed)—and those who believe that America is good, that its principles are the greatest antidote to racism ever created, and that preserving America and its principles is the highest and most urgent political calling. Let’s call these patriots “Americanists."

What a pile of crap!

Basically the guy is saying all the alt-right fear mongering is true even though it's 100% BS. There's nothing to debate.

My guess is that if we looked into it we'd see that Fonte and Klingenstein have been carrying the anti-affirmative action torch for decades and have simply reworked the "liberals are commies" argument into something that resonates with the anti-woke argument that is all the rage in some circles now-a-days.

He's not too far off. There's two groups in the US, the reality based community and republicans. And because of the actions of authoritarians like Tommy boy, a second civil war is increasingly likely.

PS had a scan through the article and what the crybaby is accusing the "left" of doing is what the party of treason, his party, are actually doing. Never has the rule of law been so jeopardised by such a whiny bunch of whingers.

Klingenstein runs the trick of picking out the most progressive, leftist Democrats and then pretending they run the whole party with an iron fist. Dems sometime pull the same trick by pointing out a stupid, bigoted, fat bellied congressman and saying, "See what the Republicans are. . .".

In this way Klingenstein is in effect a conspiracy theorist.

I told them once the great replacement theory is true. All of us will be replaced by people not born yet. They did not get it.

Yeah, Klingenstein trotting out the most fringe, anonymous, powerless persona he could find online and saying that's the Democrat's plan is totally the same as when Democrats point out what actual Republican Congressmen are doing with their congressional power is what the Republican Party is doing...

It's all about white guys getting their hackles up about women requiring consent and dickwads being called out for racist jokes and comments.

Who is this choad any why does this mean anything different from the last hundred times the far right has declared fatwa?

This time they have jumped on the anti-woke bandwagon. It's worth pointing out the some folks on that wagon aren't nearly as fervent as Klingenstein.

I guess that's one way to look at it...if you're delusional.

I suspect people who cannot... or refuse to... see that this country has always had and still has a racism problem are in denial because they are either consciously or subconsciously racists themselves. Or, they are just incredibly stupid or live in a bubble.

"...[America's] principles are the greatest antidote to racism ever created"

Then explain how slavery existed from America's founding to the end of the Civil War, how Jim Crow laws existed until 1968, and why people of color continue to be disproportionately imprisoned and living in poverty. That "antidote" doesn't seem to be very effective.

We certainly can't call them 'Republicans' considering the last few years.

I was going to point that out as an example of an assertion that is both true and false at the same time. In principle, the ideals underlying the US really are a great antidote to racism. The problem is, in practice, the US has consistently failed to live up to the principles upon which it believes it was founded.

As with all "antidotes", you actually need to take the antidote for it to work. There's no point in having the best antidote in the world, if you're content to just let everyone die of poisoning, anyways.

I agree. Principles are an ideal seldom lived up to in practice. However, that doesn't mean we have to give up striving to achieve them.

I got as far as

"Indiana congressman Jim Banks recently announced the formation of an anti-woke caucus. Good."

No need to read further, just another ******* creating an enemy so everybody can watch him attack it.

Why should I care what this guy thinks, they all think this way. I skimmed it for 20 seconds and he's an ignorant fool.

The Claremont Institute is a conservative think tank

Laughing dog here. This guy is their chairman. A real thinker.

Just visited his homepage.
A load of total BS.
He is, of course, a die hard Trump supporter.

When I discovered this Klingenstein twerp had made a Youtube on "The Virtues of Donald Trump" then I genuinely spat my coffee and laughed out loud.

It's a satire website...surely!

If you watch Klingenstein's YouTubes* you can see that he loves Trump, backs up the stolen election claim and piles on a ton of Trumpian vitriol.

He calls progressives "woke communists" and says their goal and that of the Democratic Party is to destroy America. He touches all the anti-woke, hate-the-Dems bases. He says the "woke" want white men to feel bad about themselves (amateur psychologists might ask him what it is he feels bad about?).

The guy's just over the top!

Bat-**** crazy.

They wouldn't have to single anybody out. They could take a group shot of all republicans and caption it, "every day that these people sit here in Washington, they commit treason against your country and everything you hold dear". And only one of the group, or at most two, would have sufficient grounds for a libel suit.

This idiot Christian Facist war started Years ago, they are as motivated by Religion as the Taliban. Been trying to tell people that for years but no one listens.

I just hope when the make it a white Christian nation that knows a ginny isn't white and a papist isn't a christian.

It's the 'It Can't Happen Here mentality.
The Hell it Can't.

It's already been happening here for decades, they view Vladimir Putin as a strong Man Ally when actually he has been feeding most of the Idiot Propaganda and conspiracy theories dividing us.

...ok...? There doesn't seem to be anything new here. It's the same nonsense the uncle you try to avoid at family events keeps posting on Facebook. Who is the author and why do we care he specifically is posting this?

I love how we're having this discussion as if the Right having to define "Woke" in court and it going... badly didn't already happen.

How many times does the Right get the benefit of the doubt AFTER they've already said the quiet part out loud?

It's because every news outlet thinks they are ESPN, so our entire political discourse comes down to Team A vs Team B. And like the laughably lopsided SuperBowls in the 1990s, they have to twist themselves into pretzels to convince us that both sides are equal so we will keep a rooting interest.

In 1865, the Union won the Civil War, and America was finally perfect.

The vast majority of republicans in the US disagree with both portions of that sentence, and for contradictory reasons.

The US merely illegally subjugated the true hero’s of America.
Also, the US winning has caused all the problems we have now with uppity minorities wanting rights.

Actually, this problem goes a lot further and darker than "liberals are commies". The Q Republicans believe that certain groups of people need to be rounded up into camps and done away with, AKA Auschwitz. Those groups, in the more extreme Q Republican's minds, include anyone not Cis and male, although females have a use as breeding livestock. :(

I told them once the great replacement theory is true. All of us will be replaced by people not born yet. They did not get it.

Of course not. Most Q Republicans don't have two brain cells to rub together. The Q Crowd is mostly morons, with a small handful of brains calling the shots.

:dl:

Hardly. Jim Crow was formed after the Civil War. We still have race relations problems, and what's going on now with the Q Tards is reactive largely to Obama's presidency that was groundbreaking. ;)
