Merged The razor of Hitchens and the Spirits!

Carrot Flower Queen had a very pleasant experience with spirits last night: she opened the bottle of Nc'nean Huntress Autumn Cobbler limited edition wot I bought her for Christmas and described it as quite unlike any other single malt she's tried In A Good Way.

I don't drink the stuff, but it does smell absolutely fascinating.

The name itself sounds like it was invented by the people that make greeting cards or paint colors. Just enticing. But I am confident that whatever it's intended use is, imbibing would end with having Miranda Rights recited to me.

At our house, we don't drink spirits, only God's good beer & wine. Spirits aren't good for us, especially my gf; they make her dance inappropriately and then lose all memory of doing so. That's what she tells me anyway, and my in-laws believe her -- pretty aggressively. (I'm a born outsider.)

Spirits give some people stomach cramps, too.

I have two more personal experiences that I think are caused by spirits!

SIr David Attenborough once said a very wise thing. Wiser than usual, I mean, even for him. He said: "the correct scientific response to anything that is not understood is always to look harder for the explanation, not give up and assume a supernatural cause".

Think hard about those two personal experiences. What is it about them which you do not understand, and for which the only possible explanation is supernatural? Can you really not think of any other plausible explanations which do not involve supernatural entities for which there is not a shred of evidence? Or are they mundane, everyday experiences which most people have had and thought nothing of, like an abdominal pain which came and then went away?

That isn't the point of the girlfriend/spirit combination?

Mineral spirits are highly overrated beverages. They sound like one of those new agey healthy alternatives, but don't buy into the hype.

I want to share these two experiences with you! I want to know your opinion!

Nc'nean is a small distillery, named after Neachneohain, a Gaelic goddess of spirits, based in Morvern; they like experimenting with distillation and the whisky in question is one of those experiments, which has a higher proportion of esters and other aromatic compounds than is usual.

The first phenomenon is the following, when I stand in a doorway, after a few minutes my right shoulder trembles! I think this is caused by spirits that want to pass through the door! When the spirits are passing through my body, the trembling occurs! What do you think?

Muscle spasm.

Eta: Muscle spasms are things that are known to exist spontaneously. Spirits making your shoulder tremble are not something that is known to exist. Twofold, actually: spirits are not known to exist, and them physically acting on shoulder is super duper not known to exist. So the conclusion that is the most likely explanation is a muscle spasm. It accounts for all the facts, and explains everything with no supernatural assumptions needed. That's why it is favored by skeptics

I think muscle spasms are not a good reason to believe in spirits. They don't even a qualify as a bad reason to believe in spirits.

It's an unusual phenomenon! What could be the cause?
I just answered that very thoroughly.

Eta: if you came to my home and stood in a doorway for several minutes, I'd probably punch you in the mouth. Doorways and hallways are not for standing around, blocking everyone's way. Do you not have fire exit obstruction codes in Sau Paulo?

I only stand in doorways sometimes! When I'm alone!

The other unusual phenomenon is the following, when I get close to people, they start to yawn, and when I leave they stop yawning! I think the cause of the yawning is the approach of spirits that walk with me, the spirits are invisible!

Has it occurred to you that the people find you boring?

Actually, sorry. That was just mean.

I find that hard to believe. You're great company. Such a good listener.
