Jones is one of the very few people who can make Glenn Beck look comparatively sane; it gets worse from there.

Y2K was what he really pounded the table over, grunting about the end of money and shilling for his gun and survivalist's shop called "The Hardware Store". They specialized in stuff like guns, ammo, MREs and 8-stage water filtration systems. He pimped the hell out of these on his show, promising us all that the end was nigh. Then nothing happened.

Most Texans assumed he was done. Then 9/11 swooped in and bailed the charlatan out.

Some CTers call him a Zionist shill. Other CTers, like kyoon, call him a CIA Agent.

Then there's a conspiracy theory that says that Alex Jones is in fact Bill Hicks (for some reason...).

He's also the host of a show called "infowars" and is good friends with US Presidential candidate Donald Trump.

I try to stay away from Infowars (There's a moron for your mind!) as much as possible. Not so much because of the conspiratorial bilge sloshing around on the site, but because of the comments on the articles. Sickening, truly sickening. Rampant anti-Semitism and calls for murder and violence everywhere you look.
I did look a couple of days ago, after Malbec stated that CTers were discussing China, Putin and Iran. It turns out they weren't at all. I was so surprised.
One of my favourite Alex Jones moments was an article about gun-related homicides, in which they were arguing that America's more relaxed gun laws (in comparison with, for example, the UK) did not lead to a higher rate of same. As proof, the article linked to a map of the world showing rates of gun-related homicides around the world, in which America had one of the highest rates. Absolute perfection!

He gains subscribers every day, although he claimed in that Bilderberg video from 2013 that he had 3 mil. followers, yet he has 1.6 mil.

I'm still at a loss why this guy isn't in jail. Especially after the Y2K thing.

Watched one video a few months ago, turned it off after 1 minute. This guy pisses me off. I personally would call his channel "Disinfowars" or "Whackowars".

I've seen a video of his NYC antics where he approached a group of in-uniform military service members while they were eating lunch and proceeded to yell, scream and carry-on about their particular part in whatever conspiracy he had in mind, to the point they stopped eating and left just to get away from the *******, to the great amusement of ******* Jones and his followers.

Alex Jones is a con-man who quite deliberately is stoking outrage by means of faux hysteria. To me it is painfully obvious he doesn't believe the bilge he utters. And of course all this bilge has been an enormous gravy train for him.

The bottom line is that he has been uttering hysteria screeds and predicting all sorts of terrible things, which he has repeatedly said will happen and which don't happen for more than two decades now. The man lies with great ease all in order to pour money into his pocket. He is an actor and his hysterical "public" persona is part of an act designed to con the public so of course when the public isn't watching the act stops.

I dont know for certain but I'd bet older members here have known about Jones for decades. Jones would be nothing new to them .

For info, I think a majority of people in the UK who care either way (rather than being ambivalent) dislike Piers Morgan. He was editor of three tabloid newspapers (at least) here, and developed a reputation for being smug and ingratiating. His papers were involved in phone hacking and in one case published faked photos which were meant to show UK troops abusing Iraqi citizens and urinating on the dead.

One satirical magazine here always refers to him as Piers Moron.

ETA - I think Stephen Fry once defined Countryside as the killing of Piers Morgan (I can edit this if that is against the MA, but I think it's OK).

Obviously Jones and his followers will simply admit they were wrong, humbly apologize to anyone who was misled and concede that the HRC administration is not as awful as they expected it to be. Like how their ilk apologized for saying that Obama was going to take our guns and Obamacare was going to kill my granny with its death panels and such.

In all seriousness, it's his unwillingness to admit to being wrong about these things after the fact that contributes to my doubts about his sincerity.
