Cont: The Marjorie Taylor Greene thread - Part II

Madge really is a very special kind of stupid:

The tweet of hers that I saw included a link to an article by The Gateway Pundit.

My only question is whether she actually is dim enough to believe that or she is just playing to her supporters

I’m too lazy to look through the whole thread to see if this joke was told.

Has anyone asked MTG, if the Dems are smart enough to build weather-controlling machines, why are no Republicans smart enough to build machines to counter the weather-controlling machines?

Like the two smartest humans, Trump and Musk! Just ask them. But don't ask which of the two is smarter, that won't end well.

Someone else said that it also says a lot that if the Democratic Party had this ability to control hurricanes, instead of working over Iran and North Korea, they just decide to do over Florida... Twice.

She's both dumb enough to believe it and playing to her equally dumb supporters.

We're a bit short on a few supplies.

Like what?

Cow's milk. Ran out of that yonks ago. Fresh and dehydrated.

What kind of milk are we using now?

Emergency back-up supply. We're on the dog's milk.

Dog's milk?!

Nothing wrong with dog's milk. Full of goodness, full of vitamins, full of marrowbone jelly. Lasts longer than any other type of milk, dog's milk.

Why?

No bugger'll drink it.
That Dwarfs my previous movie quote.

Because the Dems hate America of course.

The message seems to be that if some disaster- weather, fires etc- strikes a Democrat state, then it's god punishing them for being commies, but if it strikes a Republican state, then it's the Democrats manipulating the weather.
Funny, that.

Good point

emptyg has a new message.
Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Thursday blamed America's evils on God's "punishment" for "murdering babies" and separately said she doesn't want to give the Federal Emergency Management Agency "a damn penny" despite the agency's desperate plea that it does not have enough funding to make it through this hurricane season. MSN article link

As President Biden -- remember him? -- said this evening about some other insane blathering by emptyg, "It's beyond ridiculous. It's got to stop."

Amen!

If it's god's punishment for abortion, why is he punishing the states trying to ban it Midge?

I'm personally wondering why she thinks a Democratic conspiracy to control the weather is necessary to explain why hurricanes/tropical storms are going where they pretty much usually go; but I think it's futile to expect logic or consistency from folks like her. These are people who not only don't do logic, they positively eschew it as any kind of necessity. They're the kind of Christians who will resort to "god works in mysterious ways" at the drop of a hat- they deeply believe in a mystery that's so central to their way of thinking that it's to be maintained as a matter of faith, not dispelled as a matter of logic or (god forbid) evidence. You cannot successfully argue with a mind so childish as to think that candy is all you need for healthy living.

Which is all well and good when it's limited to their own actions, but not so great when they want to make it a basis for governmental policy that will affect the lives of thousands of others, many of whom may not share the faith and none of whom are obligated to.

Replace, "believe " with, "claim " throughout, I think. I don't think even she's dim enough to believe what she says.

Given her oeuvre I am quite certain she is that dim, that's not to say she does believe all the crap she spews out as she is also a self-serving vile human being who will say anything whether she believes it or not if it serves her selfishness.

It's not a valid distinction. With Trump and Greene there's no person there, just a persona. Questions of whether they believe it or are just grifting don't apply to them like they do to normal or "insanely wrong within normal parameters" people.

There was (another) discussion about Trump’s “very fine people” comment recently that came down to the question of whether he really believed white supremacists are very fine people. Anyone who thinks that matters with these people is absolutely missing the point.

Well, I don't think it's necessary for her to believe it in order to claim it. But my point was more about her methodology of thought. Most religious people have a useful filter that separates their "church" thought from their everyday "real life" thought- they can believe six ridiculous things in one place by one methodology that they would never dream of applying in the other, where more stringent rules of logic and evidence need to apply. Marge, I think, lacks that filter- she believes and behaves like she's in church no matter where she actually is, and logic/evidence are things to be avoided in order to maintain the holy chanting flow. It's not even necessarily a question of her intelligence (though she does seem to me to be like that one bulb in the chandelier that needs replacing), it's more just the sheer inertia of her faith-based approach.

She's the XX chromosome version of Trump.

I see that MTG has come out and said that sanctuary cities should justify the receipt of federal funding (for no reason other than she doesn't like people who show compassion for others or display common human decency). Personally I think the cities should agree with her and withdraw their funding to the federal government, starting January 6th.

She does mean that she doesn't want their money, right?

Let's not forget that this wretch harrassed Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg because he had the audacity to express his first amendment right concerning gun control.

She is maga scum.

It always amuses me how people in Red states and regions that receive more federal funding than they generate in federal tax revenue are so very concerned over whether the people in revenue-surplus Blue states and regions are entitled to funding.

Pres. Trump curtailed federal funding to law enforcement in sanctuary cities in 2016, and will likely do so again. The 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals upheld his right to do so. An appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court was mooted when the Biden Administration ended the policy. The general policy of tying federal funding for state and local activities to their compliance with federal relegation or policy is well-established and has only a few limitations.

Greene is also pushing the false narrative that NPR is "government funded," controlled by Democrats, and should therefore be defunded and eliminated. Despite its name, National Public Radio is non-profit organization funded almost exclusively by private donations.

Only second amendment rights matter.
Only matter to who? The GOP in general does not really care about 2nd Amendment rights anymore. As much grief (personal attacks, claims of criminal activity, etc) as I get for posting about guns here, I get far more crap from gun owners on gun forums for my pro-gun stance. It seems that attacking prominent GOP gun grabbers is bad, because some other Democrat might be worse. :)

But she's all for Freedom of the Press and Free Speech.

We'll see if NPR is labeled a terrorist organization and lost it's non-profit status. Republicans just passed a law that allows non-profits to be labeled terrorist organizations on a whim. Organizations accused of supporting terrorism are guilty until they prove themselves innocent in the new legal landscape.

Jeez dude, how long you gonna milk that?
The "JREF Suppressor War" was a decade and a half ago (?), they were wrong and you set them right. Who the hell is still giving you stick here over your activities? Are there secret gun threads I'm just not seeing?

The point I was trying to make is that the people I expected to be supportive were just the opposite. I'm not milking it. I was getting flak on gun forums just as I was here. Last year I was banned from WaGuns.org for my criticism of Trump. It is only a little better on other gun forums. ISF is the lone bastion of sanity it sometimes seems.
