It appears certain that Trump is going to be indicted in the GA "It was a perfect phone call/ Just find me 11,780 votes" case.

It's been reported that the GA prosecutors have texts and emails that show Giuliani and Sidney Powell, et al were involved in the illegal attempt to breach the voting system in Fulton County
Atlanta District Attorney Fani Willis and her team of prosecutors have text messages that connect some of former President Donald Trump’s legal team to a voting system breach in a rural Georgia county, CNN reported—as Willis prepares for indictments in her long-running investigation into Trump’s attempts to overturn his 2020 election loss.

Texts and emails obtained by prosecutors suggest the early 2021 breach in Coffee County—in which people attempted to access voting machines to create evidence of voter fraud—was led by members of Trump’s team, rather than local Trump supporters acting alone, people close to the investigation told CNN.

The text messages reportedly show members of Trump’s legal team—including former New York City mayor and Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani—and people they hired received a “written invitation” to access the voting machines, as they sought to access the county’s voting system before the certification of President Joe Biden’s electoral win.

The texts showed the invitation was written by Misty Hampton, a former county official who previously made the baseless claim that Dominion voting machines could be easily manipulated, CNN said.

CNN reported Giuliani, Trump attorney Sidney Powell and members of a team hired to investigate voter fraud in Georgia knew of the “written invitation” and indicated in a December White House meeting they were excited about obtaining “voluntary access” to the machines.

The Georgia Secretary of State’s office has called the Coffee County breach “unauthorized access”—Georgia law requires permission from the Secretary of State before any software is “loaded onto or maintained or used on computers on which the election management system software is located.”

"They are breaking into the voting machines and want to change the votes! Throw them in Jail!

What? They are pro-Trump?

Nevermind then."

Imagine being a school teacher having to explain in a reasonable way this on going
*********** which seems to be standard issue now. Damn and I thought President Kennedy gettin' shot in the head was tough.

He's awake

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

The only Election Interference that took place in Fulton County, Georgia, was done by those that Rigged and Stole the Election, not by me, who simply complained that the Election was Rigged and Stolen. We have Massive and Conclusive Proof, if the Grand Jury would like to see it. Unfortunately, the publicity seeking D.A. isn't interested in Justice, or this evidence. Also, as in Manhattan, the corrupt DOJ is pushing hard trying to keep Biden in Office. The whole system is dishonest and broken!

Trump can present his proof to the jury. You have to wonder why they didn't present the proof when they were in court before

It's nice that there are finally charges that directly address the whole half-assed Trump coup plot rather than those deal with piddly side issues like his dodgy real-estate company or whatever.

I'm not super optimistic about these cases having a positive outcome, but if you believe in any semblance of the rule of law or that corruption should be punished this is the kind of action you'd want to see.

Apparently the Georgia RICO law has a mandated minimum sentence. Does this mean that if/when defendants are convicted, they go straight to jail? Or does that happen when sentenced? If they appeal, are they free pending the appeal?

I am reading reports that failed former Lt.

Governor of Georgia, Jeff Duncan, will be testifying before the Fulton County Grand Jury. He shouldn't. I barely know him but he was, right from the beginning of this Witch Hunt, a nasty disaster for those looking into the Election Fraud that took place in Georgia. He refused having a Special Session to find out what went on, became very unpopular with Republicans (I refused to endorse him!), and fought the TRUTH all the way. A loser, he went to FNCNN!

Assuming they have a competent judge, I rather suspect that they will not allow Trump to present "proof of fraud by the Democrats" in the trial.

The judge will probably want to keep the case tightly focused, and bringing up issues unrelated to the facts of the case would threaten to derail things. (The most they might do is allow Trump to introduce some sort of evidence that he "believed" there was fraud, but without getting into "this is how Trump imagined the fraud happened".)

This just in from Politico:

The county court in Georgia where Donald Trump is expected to be charged this week briefly posted and then quickly removed a document on Monday detailing several charges against the former president over his alleged election interference in the state in 2020.

The Fulton County document, first reported by Reuters, includes Trump’s name and lists the case status as “open.” It’s dated Aug. 14, and timed-stamped 12:39 p.m. The document lists 12 felony counts and one serious felony count for violating Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations, or RICO, Act. According to Reuters, charges have not been filed against Trump.

The county court clerk's office did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment about the document.

The publication and quick removal of the document comes as Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis appears to be on the verge of bringing criminal charges in her investigation into Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in that state.

On Saturday, witnesses confirmed that they would be appearing before the grand jury early this week. If Trump is charged, it would be his fourth indictment in the past five months as the former president looks to win the GOP presidential nomination and try to retake the White House.

Trump currently faces federal criminal charges related to his alleged interference in the 2020 election and his hoarding of classified documents, as well as criminal charges in New York involving hush money payments.

The old adage 'it's never RICO' doesn't fit here where it quite obviously is RICO. The defenses of 'he never specifically wrote down he was criming' and 'he's too stupid to crime' are the kinds of things RICO is made to address.

The clerk says the document was a fake:

Special Purpose Grand Jury Update

The Office of the Fulton County Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Courts has learned of a fictitious document that has been circulated online and reported by various media outlets related to The Fulton County Special Purpose Grand Jury. While there have been no documents filed today regarding such, all members of the media should be reminded that documents that do not bear an official case number, filing date, and the name of The Clerk of Courts, in concert, are not considered official filings and should not be treated as such. Media members can expect to be notified of any/all filings in real time and will be provided access to filings via equitable communication. As the official custodian of various county records, the Clerk of Courts understands the sensitivity of all court filings, especially those that are at the forefront of the national spotlight and remains committed to operating with an extreme level of efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.

The document did have a case number on it, but clerks are declining to comment.

I'd say it's just an administrative error, and a provisional document got posted by mistake.

Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!!

Dunno what I'm laughing about; Trump will only grift harder and his supporters will keep coughing it up.

ETA: Of course it's possible that not all ten charge Donnie Depends.

BREAKING!!! Grand Jury has returned 10 Indictments!

Oh gee whiz!

Now that POS Trump has 88 indictments against him.

Hopefully, in his next legal tussle he will get into enough trouble so that he break into triple digits.

We don’t yet know what they all are as of yet. They may not all be against Trump.

Maggie Haberman just reported in the New York Times:
A new statement from the Trump campaign accuses Fani T. Willis, the Fulton County district attorney, of being a “rabid partisan” and says her election interference investigation is based on “fabricated accusations.” The campaign again tied the investigation to the Biden administration, despite its coming from a state prosecutor. Times news link

Times reporter Richard Fausset filed these news stories within the past half hour:
The Fulton County clerk said the grand jury returned 10 indictments, but it’s important to remember that this grand jury has been empaneled for weeks, hearing evidence in a number of cases. It’s possible the jurors had more than the Trump case to vote on today.

It’s a waiting game now. An indictment has been handed up by a Fulton County grand jury, but the clerk is saying it could be midnight before it is processed and made public. (It could also be sooner.) A news conference featuring District Attorney Fani T. Willis is expected to take place after the indictment is released.

JUST IN: A Fulton County grand jury investigating the Trump 2020 election subversion case in Georgia has returned 10 indictments, according to the court paperwork.
The indictments have yet to be unsealed – and it's unclear how many are directly related to the election probe.
The paperwork indicates the grand jury didn't vote against any of the indictments presented to it on Monday by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ team.

For me the Georgia case has always seemed like a slam dunk.
