I'd love to see any pictures, video or news reports of the Truth Movement or Militia trying to ride on the coattails of the "big" anti-tax march in Washington.

Interesting video of the march, itself would be appreciated, too.

I haven't seen any of those people - YET - but considering some of the signage I've come across here and here, I know two show hosts on MSNBC that are going to have fun this coming Monday...:D

So, here's what we have learned today:

- Obama is a socialist/fascist/dope smoker/Batman's The Joker/communist/usurper/the antichrist/Joseph Stalin/Adolf Hitler/parasite/terrorist/muslim/marxist who needs to be aborted/overthrown in a military coup/buried with Ted Kennedy/shot.
- Fox News is awesome.
- No! (didn't really get this sign)
- Someone lost their gun.

Wow, that's the largest group of white people I've seen in one place at the same time since the last NASCAR rally. :D

I haven't seen anybody come right out and say it, so here goes:

Looks like the racists are out, and being very careful to use for non-racist sounding digs at the president.

Oh great, just what we needed -- a bunch of "Obama is Hitler" (or is it Stalin this week? One of the cards had him as the devil) folks.

Guess it goes to show what everybody already knew -- the left hardly has a monopoly on the crazy fringes.

(Scratches head)

So if they use racist language, it proves they're racist, but if they don't, it proves they're racist who are hiding their racism?

That sounds familiar...

Monty Python said:
Brian: I'm not the Messiah! Will you please listen? I am not the Messiah, do you understand? Honest!

Girl: Only the true Messiah denies His divinity!

Brian: What? Well, what sort of chance does that give me? All right, I AM the Messiah!

Followers: He is! He is the Messiah!

...in fact I'm impressed with one aspect of these folks' protest -- as stupid and silly as it is, it isn't racist. These folks hate Obama's guts, but it doesn't seem they give a damn about his skin color (in general, at least; I'm sure there is the occasional KKK guy).

Why does "racism" has to get into everything, just because Obama's black? While it's quite certain that every racist criticism of Obama is stupid, it doesn't follow that every stupid criticism of him is racist.

To add to the humor, Glenn Beck was covering this on a Saturday show. He was insisting this was not an anti-Obama or anti-democratic rally ("Its anti-Big-Government"), yet on the video, you could continually see anti-Obama and anti-democratic signs in the crowds.

At one point, he got one of his reporters to go down the line of a few people right up front. He asked them "Is this an anti-Obama rally or anti-big government?". They were all ready with their answer - which had nothing to do with the signs behind them.

If I were a suspicious person, I'd say they'd been coached.

I don't consider him black. In fact he's about half as black as Colin Powell is, and Powell wasn't considered black by the mainstream media.

Side note: First paragraph A = B and (not A) = B

Meet the liberal racist mindset.

You know, if one covered the name on the sign, it would probably be hard to tell if the moronic insults on most of them were against Bush or Obama. Goes to show the truth of the old claim -- that the extreme right and the extreme left are in fact the same in everything, indeed even the rhetoric, the only difference being the evil bogeyman who is "the enemy".

Powell WAS considered black by the mainstream media. He wasn't, however, considered black by Richard Dawkins... which, if he is your idea of the mainstream media, I (a) congratulate you, (b) want you to go out more.

Dawkins' point (in "The Ancestor's tale" and elsewhere) is not that race does not exist -- it does, of course (whether it is important is another issue) -- but that it is a vague concept whose borders have a lot to do with one's particular circumstances. Many people considered "white" in, say, Egypt or Kenya would be considered "black" in the USA; Powell being one example.

Skeptic raises a good point that a lot of the posters at that rally could be anti-Bush posters. An irony that's probably lost on the crowd and MSNBC both. It looks to me that a lot of the posters and factions there were fairly reasonable, but if one wanted to find them there were of course the far religious right "death panel" fearmongers and Obama = Hitler people. Both sides have a lot of idiots they unwisely tolerate.

Overall though I like to see this kind of public outrage. Even if 75% of the protesters are protesting for the wrong reasons, the government's got to be doing something wrong and these sorts of events could scare some of those problems away. A good sign for democracy if you will. If a bunch of morons can accomplish something noble then.. let them? We're all good as long as some megalomaniac doesn't take control of them via their anger. Then it will be time to start talking about Hitler.

ugh...Seriously?

I think Joseph McCarthy is tap dancing in his grave. So much hate so little intelligence.

The difference, as pointed out in another thread, is that the Bush=Hitler signs (which I despised) did not appear until after Bush had started a war under a false pretext. I was delighted to see Saddam dead, but the war did not serve American interests and will, in the long run, see Iraq turned into an Iranian style theocracy--take a look at what has happened at the Ashraf Refugee camp if you have any doubts. And the very problem with Iraq was the false pretext itself, which requires withdrawal when the conditions of the pretext are met (not that the U.S. could afford an extended engagement.) Since Iraq has the healthiest reserves of untapped oil (Iran is almost out, and Saudi Arabia has passed peak production) it may well extend the funding, and the lifespan, of the jihadist cause by decades. Rumsfeld's incompetence permitted the escape of the leaders of Al Quaeda, a major moral victory for the jihadists, which will probably lead to a jihadist takeover of Pakistan, a nation that already has nukes. Bush also pushed into effect a series of measures that severely limited constitutional freedoms and extended state power. These colossal blunders, and the trillion dollar debt he saddled America with, will guarantee his position as America's worst president. In these three aspects: war under false pretext, limitation of constitutional freedom, and in actions ruinous to the nation, Bush could, in fact, be compared to Hitler.

Obama has done nothing even remotely worthy of the comparison. Worse, the signs with the Hitler mustache on Obama appeared shortly after his inauguration, before he had done anything. They were obviously being prepared after the election, to be used at the first possible opportunity. So while I didn't have much use for the Bush = Hitler protestors, I have the utmost contempt for the Obama = Hitler protestors. This is ideological claptrap, pure and simple, and there is no equivalence to be made.

Let's see:
Walks like a duck
Smells like a duck
Looks like a duck
Quacks like a loon.

So, its either a well coached duck or very confused.

He was NOT considered black, as in "American Black" , as I recall his childhood was in Jamaica.

Nope

Colin Luther Powell was born on April 5, 1937[5] in Harlem, a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Manhattan to Jamaican immigrant parents Luther Theophilus Powell and Maud Arial McKoy and was raised in the South Bronx. He also has Scottish and Irish ancestry.[6][7] Powell attended Morris High School, a former public school in The Bronx, from which he graduated in 1954. While at school, he worked at a local baby furniture store where he picked up Yiddish from the shopkeepers and some of the customers.
His parents were Jamaican immigrants. He's as American as they come.

Your point? Based on asking people I know that were in D.C on Jan 20, all the trashcans and dumpsters in town were absolutely overflowing. Poeple tried to be neat. The crap had nowhere to go.

So you couldn't get enough people in town last saturday to fillup the trash cans? That's not impressive.

Thanks. It does look rather beige, doesn't it.

You're most likely to find truthers at far left-wing rallies.
Not much use for truthers at these kind of protests. Bush is out of office and it's been eight years.

But rest assured, if another terrorist attack should hit the U.S., they'll make the 9/11 troofers pale in comparison.

Not any more. Now that Obama is in power, he is their new anti-christ. You will likely see them more and more at these teabag type events.

TAM:)

You need to go over the pictures again.

Sorry, just because Godwin's Law is yet again followed in national discourse does not indicate racism.

Or is it because a black man in America was frequently pictured? I wonder why that would be?
