When we moved to Xenfora some of the signature options didn't come over. In the old software signatures were limited by a character limit, on Xenfora there are more options and there is a character number and number of lines limit. I've set maximum number of lines to 4 and unlimited characters.

Merged Syrian Civil War heats up again/Damascus about to fall

Jihadism has just gotten a huge uptick in interest since the New Orleans attack......
I guess they can buy the books from many US school book suppliers and cross out jesus for muhammed.
It's sad to see how much religion wishes to attack knowledge, but I guess it makes sense from their point of view. Can't have people question.

Speaking of TELEGRAM --

"Their(HAMAS') Telegram platform channel was used for disseminating professional military literature from the Al-Qassam Brigades, featuring detailed guides on topics such as precision shooting training, sniping, camouflage and deception, checkpoint operations, infiltration, ambushes, and operational movement."

I thought Israeli intelligence was among the best. It is hard to believe that open intelligence like this has not been used.

Steenkh, in my humble opinion the IDF was well-aware of efforts in Gaza to perpetrate a border breach.
However, the IDF was committed to their doctrine of "industrial quiet" (meaning, not to take any pro-active maneuvers against Gazan terrorists).
This attitude was evident to me personally over the two decades I served in IDF as a reservist. The idea to 'avoid making things worse" was pervasive, even when action was warranted to thwart threats.
On the morning of Oct7, we know specific warnings by the female monitors along the border regarding HAMAS movements were pooh-poohed and these soldiers were told by the commanders "Al Tidag" (have no worries).

In my opinion, when Israelis say "Al Tidag" it really means -- Start Worrying!

I'm not following the logic here. It was already known that Hamas were receiving and disseminating instructional materials on various aspects of insurgency, terrorism, and asymmetrical warfare. Unless the Telegram channel was being used to disseminate the specific details of the Oct 7 plan, including date and time of the attack, jumping off points, lines of travel, etc., monitoring it would not have helped to prevent the attack.

Well, even without specific details this knowledge should have caused the border security to be reinforced. It is easy to be an armchair general, and criticize without knowledge of the actual possibilities the commanders had, but the unworried attitude is certainly worrying if there were signs to be gleaned from Telegram that something big was being planned.

We've been over this before. Numerous reports have stated that Netanyahu was warned about an imminent attack, but that he disregarded those warnings. There is also evidence that Bibi was quietly happy that Hamas existed as a threat, because that threat would reduce support for a 2-state solution in Israel- and also in Palestine- and divert attention away from domestic policy failures.
Bibi has denied this, of course, but I personally wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

Not even "quietly happy". He funded Hamas

It's clear that Israel dropped the ball.

I just don't see the point of singling this Telegram channel out for wild speculation that it held the key and the Israelis overlooked it.

Wow. This old chestnut again.
OK, let's do this again.
No, he didn't 'fund Hamas'. Even your link says he didn't. Israel allowed the transfer of funds from Qatar to Hamas, to pay civil servants' wages, and the general functioning of Gaza's infrastructure.
It is notable that, far too often, those who accuse Bibi of funding Hamas are also those who criticise Israel's blockade of Gaza. It really is a case of 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' for the Israel-hating contingent on this forum.
Now, of course, Netanyahu was not allowing this money to flow to Hamas for any kind of humanitarian reasons, because the guy is a scumbag. It was pure Machiavellian politics, aimed at securing his own position and thwarting attempts at an independent Palestinian state. However, the reality of Bibi's scumbaggishness does not excuse exaggerations and falsehoods being levelled at either him or at Israel in general. ISF's resident Team Hamas is doing this, and pretty much only this, and shows no sign of changing. I think it unhelpful to fuel their pro-terror nastiness in this way.

I also wonder if there was just not complancy...the refusal to beleive that HAMAS could actually pull something like that off.
Funny, but the atitudes you mention were common among the US Military right before Pearl Harbor.

Where does the buck stop?
maybe with the guy who made the decades of his political career all about keeping the border secure and then didn't give a ◊◊◊◊?
First of all, this thread is discussing (primarily) the border with Syria, not Gaza.

Secondly, the Prime Minister is not the guy you call at 6am to have him personally jump out of bed to respond directly with the reported border breach. (He did go into the Israeli version of a Situation Room and obtain an overall view/briefing of what was transpiring around Gaza, including evaluating the ongoing rocket attacks).

The buck stops with the Chief of Staff and the commanding generals/officers on scene.

As a follow-up to the above ----- The entire top IDF command may be replaced in the coming weeks, during the deal.
