Was reading articles about The ''Sunlight'' Swami and website of Dr.Sudhir V. Shah, easily accessible thanks to google and wikipedia (it will take a while before I'd be able to post links)
So, went to Doc's homepage and saw papers that, it said, were published in Gujarat Medical Journal (it covered another breatharian guy). There hardly was any kind of clarification about what precautions were taken to prevent trickery, which was much more likely.
As long as the tests were conducted rigorously, as an Indian, I'd have no problems with it. This doesn't appear to be one of them, but I'm not the authority here.

Hypothetically, how should this problem to be approached?

or

How to approach a paranormal claim when an expert in the field is involved?
Double blind test in Jacques Benveniste's case, which was for Homeopathy, was one such example. But unfortunately, BBC show probably due to time constraints or for dramatic reasons didn't cover any discussions on common errors which scientists (even reputed ones) are vulnerable to. It went directly to double blind test, which was explained (and I have noted it down, i just want to know a few more such formats.)

How much do you know about human physiology generally? Do you have basic knowledge of how the human body works? How the digestive system works? Etc?

If you mean the challenge, forget it. Claims which could elad to a person's health problem and potentially death, are excluded.

Yet on his video, Randi challenges him and his doctor(s) to take the MDC.

As to the OP.... The supposed qualified medical professional is peddling woo. He's got the Indian Defence organization to bite, and he also tried to sell (as in "I show you miracles - you give me many many US dollars for grant, okay?") it to NASA, and whilst it could be just his deep over-riding concern for our American astronauts, I think it has more to do with finding easy suckers to fun his academic studies.

There is discussion in India that the doctor and hospital were approached by non-believers in order to inspect the room or oversea the procedures, but were refused. (See the separate thread in Science/Medicine/Math.)

@Dumb all over:
C'mon man, randi isn't going to be there all the time for us, much less for me alone. I've got to develop... whatever skeptics are developed at. (probably basic knowledge of conjuring, scientific protocol, acute critical reasoning and biting sarcasm ;))

@rjh01:
thanks.
