Anybody ever here of either? I've been moderately fascinated every since I heard him interviewed on Coast to Coast AM years ago. He spent 30 years trying to sell teh notion that Christ/Maitreya were here on earth working to bring on utopia. In this case, the maitreya was the second coming of christ, the Jewish messiah, the Muslim Mahdi, and the Buddhist Maitreya.

He first got noticed in 1982 by publishing ads in newspapers that the Christ was here on Earth, in London specifically. His whole idea was a sorta utopian communsim melded with theosophy.

What I'm now fascinated by is that Ben Creme was the sole face of this idea until he died in 2016 but his website still exists and appears to kept up by someone. He literally predicted the second coming for 30 years with Christ just hanging out in London and not changing anything but he still has believers? AT one point he claimed the Christ had announced himself on the news but under a pseudonym. Anyrate, just thought I'd share one of my fascinations.

The scam must still be generating income. The daughter of Gene Scott kept the gig going long after his death too.

I think the Bakker empire crumbled on his fall from grace.

Yeah, Brits of a certain age are likely to remember his ads and looked upon him as a harmless numpty.
Harmless but somehow raised enough money to at least keep himself afloat and travel the world on a speaking tours.

Maybe because I'm in the US, but I wasn't aware of any infrastructure or organization that he'd built. It really seemed like it was just him but seeing how its still operating, they must somehow be bringing in money to support their hidden messiah. Part of why it fascinates be is that it should have offended everyone. Baked in all faiths end time predictions in one casserole. Also, having heard his schtick, I can't see why anyone would give him money.
