When we moved to Xenfora some of the signature options didn't come over. In the old software signatures were limited by a character limit, on Xenfora there are more options and there is a character number and number of lines limit. I've set maximum number of lines to 4 and unlimited characters.

Paranormal bias in Nevada libraries

I have an interest in Tarot cards, not for woo, but for playing card games so I came across some presentations at some local branch libraries called "Mystic Fair" and "Secrets of Tarot" which I feel may be unconstitutional as public institutions are being used for the promotion of psychic and paranormal belief. I did a search on the Library District's website on some of the other lectures and workshops and there does seem to be a pro paranormal bias in these presentations. It is my opinion that these biased presentations given in publicly financed institutions violate the separation of church and state. From what I understand the library staff recruited the psychic to give her biased perspective on Tarot cards.

Here are the examples of pro-woo lectures given.

Libraries are usually public places where anyone can reserve a conference room to put on a program.

My local library recently played host to 3 survivors of the USS Liberty in what can only be called a "really, really, really" antisemetic lecture. The library went out of its way to point out that they don't endorse the programs that they host.

Having oppenly accessable public spaces for people with all sorts of interests appears to me to be exceptionally good civics. Democracy thrives when differences are allowed to be aired and explored. I can't find a reason to fault the library for holding psychic events (so long as an atheist group could book the same room).

I searched for the word "skeptic" on the District's website and there is nothing given so maybe we Vegas skeptics should contact the library and see if we could also give some presentations.

Hear, hear. :)
