NYCCAN'T, after attempting to bombard the NYC Council's 51 members with phone calls and faxes during NYCCAN's "Building What?" campaign, have now "progressed" on to bombarding the Council with faxes and emails, in addition to meeting with them.

http://nyccan.org/join.php

Why a fax campaign? We don't want to overwhelm the nice folks answering the phones for the City Council members.

Sure, you say that AFTER your "Building What?" campaign.

Please help us get one-hundred faxes per day.

:oldroll: Oh, yes, that's a huge improvement on phone bombardment.

Their latest email update has this:

"By the end of Wednesday we will have met with ten Council Members (in addition to having educated all 51 through the Building What?! campaign). So far, 8 out of 9 have been very receptive, and to various degrees they are committed to helping us get an investigation."

Sounds like the Council members are being polite to their constituents, but not promising anything. Or smiling at nodding at the fruitloops. ;)

(The email update also lists the Council members' email addresses.)

Sure, NYCCAN are the only truthers actually doing anything even remotely constructive in the Truth Movement. But you do have to laugh at their determination and concerted efforts to push what amounts to snake oil.

Any idea who they think would actually DO this investigation?

Oh and any idea who would FUND this investigation?
Surely, truthers would call any government-funded investigation "not independent" and "untrustworthy" if it came up with results they don't like!?

They could print some more Truther Dollars at the local print shop.

Their witnesses include the ridiculous Kevin McPadden, and their footnotes include YouTube and WhatReallyHappened.com. I don't see how this could backfire on them.:D

NYCCN takes a new tack - The NYC District Attorney

http://www.ae911truth.org/actionalerts/2010/06/action_1000toNYDA.php

Dear AE911Truth Supporters:

Help NYC CAN show the Manhattan District Attorney just how widespread the desire for a new investigation is. To bring Building 7 fully to the attention of the District Attorney, the goal is to flood the DA’s office with 1,000 letters and faxes per week.
...
At the beginning of each week NYC CAN will send out a template of the letter. Feel free to edit the letter to make it your own, but please be sure to stick to what the letter is saying. The template is available below.
...
Each week we will cover a different topic so that the District Attorney can be comprehensively educated about the destruction of Building 7 in a way that is easy to absorb. The key is to not overwhelm them with all sorts of information. This is how the weeks will go:

Week 1: Getting the DA’s office to watch footage of Building 7
Week 2: Testimonial Evidence
Week 3: Physical Evidence
Week 4: Technical Evidence (analysis of footage)

yeah, spam them to death.

great way to get attention and finally be taken seriously.

you know, it is a Federal crime to use communication lines to harrass and annoy people.

i think a thousand faxes per week, would could as harrassment and annoyance.

I just sent the following email to our dear friends at "A&E4911T"

"I hope you guys are aware that it is a Federal offense to use phone lines to harrass and intimidate people.

Asking your members and supporters to send out at least 1,000 faxes per week to the DA's office, demanding a "new investigation into 9-11", may indeed be considered harrassment and unwanted communication.

Do you REALLY wanna harrass the District Attorney of New York County?

Do you REALLY want to get the new DA, Mr. Cy Vance Jr., against you?

This is a great way to put your organization in legal jeapordy, and to push yourselves even FURTHER away from being taken seriously.

Do as you will. "

Thanks for posting that. I was a bit slow in commenting on the email I got from NYCCAN about it.

I note they say, "At the beginning of each week, NYC CAN will report how many letters and faxes were sent the previous week! This way we all get to know whether or not we reached our goal."

They said that the last time, and over the 5 week campaign they never posted ANY numbers of how many faxes etc were sent. :oldroll:

NYCCAN, we're watching you! :newlol

I suspect that the DA's fax machine got more take-out menus than NYCCAN menus.

Maybe they're watching US, because they just sent an update:

Fellow Advocates!

First off, the Building7Footage.com website has been updated with a bigger screen, a more widely viewable video format, and sleeker look. Go see what the District Attorney's office will be looking at as they open all the letters we sent last week!

Which brings us to the news you may be waiting for. We finished the week with a grand total of 133 letters. Well short of our ambitious goal of 1,000, but enough to feel confident that the DA's office is taking notice.

:big: NYCCAN'T live up to their name.

From their latest email:

Thank you and congratulations! Together we finished Week 2 with 217 letters sent to the District Attorney's office.

In Week 3 let's make it our minimum goal to reach 500 letters, and in Week 4, 1000 letters! How do we do it?

Yep, to achieve their new goal, they've had to shift the goalposts.

I really wish truthers could get a court trial like the evolution/ID Dover case. That was highly embarrassing for ID and basically killed it in its current form.

From an NYCCAN'T email received last night:

Together we finished Week 3 with 221 letters sent to the District Attorney's office! It may not be 1000, but it's downright amazing when you think about the message 221 letters must send to the folks in the Special Prosecutions Bureau. 221 letters this week, on top of 217 letters last week, on top of 133 letters the week before. Wow!

:D

They couldn't even achieve their new goal of 500 letters after they'd already shifted the goalposts! Perhaps it's hard to send a fax with a bad back.

They may well have "succeeded" if one considers "success" to be support staff pitching all of one's spam faxes into the circular file immediately upon receipt, never to be seen again. If that was their goal, hurrah for them, as they've managed to marginalize themselves even further as nutcases and loons without any additional assistance from debunkers whatsoever to establish their craziness.

But I don't think anyone defines "success" quite that way. :D

And if that is what they choose to define as "downright amazing," well, I invite any one of these loons to fill a glass with water, stick a finger in, remove the finger, and take careful note of the gaping hole left behind, because frankly, the finger experiment demonstrates a greater impact than NYCCANT has ever had or will ever have.

:D

The stupid, it burns.

Oh, and what ever happened to those same NYCCANT morons saying that they were going to appeal the decision that turfed their stupid, failed petition in its entirety again? Remind me... :)

Oooo! Oooo! I know this one!

In mathematical terms, it all turned out to be the lawful equivalent of the cube root of f***all...
.

they have learned. they take all the creationist arguments and revamp them for "the truth". they know these arguments work for convincing the ignorant and infirm. since creationists have embarrassed themselves in the court, truthers just make excuses why they can't back up their nonsense in any meaningful way.

This does show how tiny their numbers are.........

Soon there will only be one or two sad souls and the new crazy will be obsessing about something else.......

I wonder how many of these are from people located outside NYC. These will carry even less weight with the DA.

Interesting side note: Let's say you have two glasses of water, on on each side of a simple mass balance. Both glasses have the same amount of water, and the scale is in balance. Stick your finger into either glass without touching the bottom, and that glass will move down, throwing the scale out of balance.

Perhaps it's obvious, but it's an interesting trick none the less. This physics factoid is brought to you courtesy of Mr. Savino's 12 grade physics class.

I expect no action to be taken by the DA, on this matter.

If anything, the only thing he would do, is file a harrassment lawsuit against NYCCANT.

Well perhaps the DA would ask the 20,000 or so structural PE's in NY for their professional opinion. And we know at least 4 of them have signed the AE911truth petition. That way it would settle it once and for all.

I think that would work for the ae911truth movement.
