Don't miss the New York City Skeptics Association's inaugural activity featuring Jamy Ian Swiss performing at Monday Night Magic!

On September 10 Jamy Ian Swiss will be headlining at Monday Night Magic, New York's longest Off-Broadway magic show.

For this performance, Jamy has graciously secured a special NYCSA ticket price of $25 (normal ticket prices are $37.50).

The evening includes Jamy's mindreading and mentalism show "Heavy Mental," as well as three other performers on stage, along with three close-up magicians performing during the extended intermission. Please visit www.mondaynightmagic.com for more information.

Following the show, Monday Night Magic performers and guests adjourn to the nearby Joshua Tree bar and restaurant, 366 W. 46th Street, about a block from the theater. Skeptics are asked to gather in the upstairs area of the restaurant where we can meet and talk and share an after-show cocktail with the performers.

Please note, if you are interested in purchasing tickets for this event do NOT buy tickets online, as you will not be able to get the discounted rate. Instead, call the box office at 718.575.1349 and mention that you are buying tickets at the special NYCSA (skeptics) price of $25. There is a limit of 2 tickets per person. Once reservations are made by phone, purchasers will be asked to mail payment by check; this is necessary due to the special rate.

A limit of 40 tickets will be available at the NYCSA price, so don't wait!

Date: September 10, 2007
Time: 8PM
Location: The St. Clement's Theatre 423 West 46th Street (Between 9th & 10th Avenues)

Not sure I'll go to this. On one hand, I like Swiss, overall.

On the other, I've seen him do Heavy Mental before, and I think I like his close-up magic better.

However, since it is in NYC, that makes it very convenient to get to. So, maybe I will pop in. Decisions, decisions...

Hmmmm.....I've been looking for an excuse to return to NYC. The Serra exhibit closes at MoMA that same weekend.

Perhaps I shall visit. Let me look into it....

Not sure if it will matter for your decision, but I went to see MNM in May, and it was a terrific show. Jamy Swiss headlined with Heavy Mental, Todd Robbins MC-ed, and there were two other featured magicians. The three main performances are different types of magic, so it's a nice combination.

Also, during intermission, there are wandering magicians who work the room, or you can go downstairs into the close-up room. It's a lot of show for your money, and we had a really swell time.

If I were in NYC, I'd go again, even though I saw it in May.

It's usually a good show, they always shake it up one way or another. And, I'm not teaching on Monday nights this semester, so I can go, woo-hoo!
