No new challenges?

The last announcement of a formal challenge application was in August of 2009.

The last person who expressed a serious interest in applying for the challenge was DowserDon.

Can anyone shed light on the status of any challenges or potential challenges newer than these?

What was the claim?

See here (the first part of the thread is just speculation, the actual test was confirmed about halfway down). It was some guy claiming that his magic plastic sports bracelets actually did something other than making the wearer look like a pillock.

So what's the bottleneck on new challenge applications? Is it that no one can get the required verification from an academic source? Or are those who once would have been applicants for the prize simply bypassing the complex process of coming up with a protocol in favor of just signing up for a JREF Forum account and having their way with all of us without the mess of knowing they're gonna' fail a real test?

I used to love, love, love reading the challenge applications. Are there really NONE coming in AT ALL? I was against the idea a few years ago of canceling the challenge, but if the challenge money is really just sitting there, and no one's coming after it, what's the point?

Perhaps you want to inquire at the JREF directly.

As soon as you have received the first bitchy response - or none at all - your interest may redirect to other topics.

I'm sorry, that was rude. No, wait, it was not. I have to thank the JREF's policy of trickle-down information to free up considerable time in my schedule and stop me from becoming a donor.

The challenge has been running for quite a few years now, I suspect that most of those who are convinced they have a paranormal ability have either applied and failed, or seen others who are equally "talented" apply and fail and persuaded themselves that it must be fixed.

Or like Psychic Sally, can make (I was going to say "earn," but I don't know that that is the appropriate word) more money by not taking the challenge and thus exposing themselves as non-psychic.

There was a discussion of this in another thread very recently.

xterra, who also enjoyed reading the applications.

Charity Bribes Allison DuBois

Hopefully I'm allowed to post this here. I've submitted a "charity bribe" for Allison DuBois to accept the $1m paranormal challenge. It's for a children's charity she supports in Phoenix so how could she say no? I'd be very grateful if folks could support it by voting. The Charity Bribes website is a bit hard to navigate but you don't have to register or anything. Click on the title; vote/submit and eventually you'll see an option to search bribes; enter Dubois Randi and you'll find it. Thanks for your support and apologies if posting this here is inappropriate.

Is this about ones that have been announced in the forum? Even during the last portion of my time as Challenge Coordinator, we had stopped posting Challenge applications to the Forum. This isn't the place to look for updates.

Are the applications posted to the Forum? If so, where do we look?

If not, how do we find out if there are applications?

Inquiring minds, and all that....

Are they posted anywhere else? Note that "The Log of Applicants" still points here.

I'd call the JREF directly. I don't work for them anymore, and am unsure if they are posting challenge info anywhere online. I do know that Banachek has done a couple of challenges on television fairly recently.
