Just wanting your Thoughts on who will win the Republican Civil War between Trump and McCoverup McConnell?

Wanted to make it a poll, but couldn't remember how.

A. Trump Wins, though fear Mongering.
B. Mitch McCoverup McConnell wins, by hook or by Crook.
Ç. Democrats win as Trump starts a Third Party.
D. DOJ and America wins by Trump being Indicted and Convicted in a Court of Law, Destroying the Republicans for Decades, leading to a Reformed and less courpt Conservative Party.
E a Meteorite hits the Earth it splits in half and we all Die and Nobody Wins.
F even on Planet X No one cares anymore.

I'm going with "Trump's health (or lack thereof) finally catches up with him and he drops dead of a massive heart attack or stroke." No living presidents or ex-presidents will show for his funeral.

Define "win"
How about this for a definition:

a) Trump manages to maintain significant power in the republican party, even winning the nomination for the 2024 election. Moscow Mitch must play nice with him. This would be a Trump 'win'

b) Trump loses power within the party. He doesn't go to jail, but he can't secure the republican nomination and either he decides to endorse the eventual candidate or he at least remains silent. This would be a McConnel 'win'

c) Trump fails to win the nomination and runs as a 3rd party, likely splitting the vote between fascists and less vocal fascists. The split vote allows the democrats to take the presidency. This would be a democrat "win" (as both Trump and McConnell would be losing)

d) Trump is indicted. you suggested it could cause the republican party to actually develop some morals. Personally I don't think that will happen. (They will remain scumbags... they will just do their best to ignore the Trump years.) This could help the democrats win, although there is a chance it could turn out to be relatively neutral

I think his influence is a lot less than many people think. All but the biggest of morons in the party want nothing more than to leave him behind. They will do anything to get rid of him, the only consideration is whether or not they will be able to do it without enraging his "base" of idiots. But do it they must, enough of them see that by now.

It's about survival at this point. They will take any opportunity - whether it's behind the scenes shenanigans, threats, run him over with a car, whatever - Trump is finished. If not then the Republicans are.

Rod: "Sounds reasonable, but that's kind of the problem too"

Ya I know. It's too reasonable but that's my prediction. Survival is a powerful instinct.

I have too agree with that.

He will probably out live us all.

We all said the same thing in January 2016. He still has that small but dedicated base. That's enough to do damage in the primaries. Look at how the GQP primary works. In New Hampshire, the person with the most votes gets half the delegates. South Carolina is a winner-take-all primary. Trump won both of those states with barely 1/3 the vote because the field was so split and he had his hyper-dedicated base. Granted, that was only about 70 delegates, but it gave him a big boost among donors and pundits. He picked up a lot of hype and then won in Nevada.

Even if he gets bounced early, they lose that dedicated base. Those people weren't voting for Republicans. They were voting for Trump.

I'm not saying whichever Republican does win the primary can't win the general, just that they won't have the fanbase Trump does.

It's about survival at this point. They will take any opportunity - whether it's behind the scenes shenanigans, threats, run him over with a car, whatever - Trump is finished. If not then the Republicans are.

They will do whatever saves their skin for tomorrow. If that means backing Trump in 2024, they will back him.

And survival may require backing Trump.

If survival for the GQP depends on morality, they're toast. Their only hope now is that immorality continues to serve them in good stead. As it has for the most part for decades. It'll require at least two full election cycles in the political wilderness for sense to begin to dawn. But the fickle and stupid electorate, with its goldfish-like memory, bovine ignorance and affinity for the Elmer Gantries hoodwinking them will not have the ability, let alone the discipline to stay the course.

Of course they won’t. They’ll think that $250,000 for a front row ticket
is TTFW (too tacky for words)

No they will try and save their own skins. Morality is nowhere to be seen in that party.

To the other post above, yes we all said the same in 2016, but Trump was on an upswing and a lot of people didn't really see it.

Completely different world now. He is now a complete failure, he is responsible for many losses in the last midterm and will probably be indicted. His rhetoric is increasingly dangerous, his public proclamations (or whatever) are getting nuttier as well, and his base is dwindling (see midterms).

They need to get rid of him and I don't think anything is off the table at all, and I mean anything. Trump is a huge liability for all of them (not to mention the country if any of them care). He must go or they are all screwed.

Again, this assumes at least some survival instinct and a smidge of reasoning, so...who the hell knows, but that's my take.

How any of these people can look at Trump and not want him gone is...how many different ways can we say crazy?

Please Don't insult Crazy, it has nothing In Common with this level of Republican Couption.

Crazy is the part that lets them think they can get away with some of this. The fake electors scheme comes to mind. I mean who the hell thought that could ever work? Wanting to cheat is corrupt. The thought that it might work and should be implemented...that is crazy stupid. I almost would like to see what would happen if they tried it. I mean geez that is some top level craziness.

Then again it's difficult to separate the stupid and the crazy and the corrupt, it's all a big tangled mess.

These Republicons have gone way past Crazy, it's like they replaced their brain cells with Chunky Peanut butter, in a cage Full of Raccoons.

It does not matter.

Considering that Mitch McConnell is nothing but a terribly ambitious, lying, disgusting POS, while Donald Trump is nothing but a terribly greedy, lying, disgusting POS, then no matter who wins their latest tiff, then we will still be stuck with two terribly, disgusting, POS individuals.

Thanks for ruining my day with your "Reality" :(

I live in Kentucky and am in Jefferson County (Louisville) where McConnell was elected county judge executive (the position was political and administrative, rather than judicial) in Jefferson county for two terms before he successfully ran for Senator in 1984.

He was known as a pragmatic, moderate Republican for years until he shifted to the right a few decade ago.

Every time he runs for re-election he trots out two sets of ads. ..one set that shows him helping constituents with sticky problems. . .and another set that warns of the progressive Democrats and what they'll do if he isn't returned to D.C. to keep them on a short leash.

It works like a charm.

I'm pretty sertain that there is only one common factor between Trump and The Turtle: Neither can be trusted any further than you can roll them uphill with your left hand. And not even that much.

I was thinking they couldn't be trusted any further than you could throw the Mississippi river.

The NY AG wins and Trump goes to jail.
Since the NY case is civil, it cannot lead to jail time for Trump.

So it would have to be: the NY AGvwins and the Trump organization is driven out of business and Trump is ruined financially as a result, and in another case in some other venue, Trump is convicted in criminal charges and goes to jail.
