What lies?
You can't be serious.
What lies?
Supply the correct information. What is the make and model of your vehicle?
It's obviously the exotic To-Nis-Hon Nonexistia!
I know you are being sarcastic but actually it would be very useful for the Fire Brigade to contact JLR to receive the powertrain diagram of this particular vehicle.
How about answering the question. Do you now accept the car was a diesel, not an EV or hybrid?
That you own a hybrid is one of your more recent lies. It's frankly an odd one.
You can't be serious.
For you it was a misconceived question of pro-EV enthusiasts vs Anti-Ev's/Big Oil. Hence your quasi-stance of painting me as a some kind of anti-EV campaigner.
You heard. I informed you I was not giving you my personal information. Respect people's boundaries. I have told you all you need to know for information purposes.
Let me know if you disagree with me.
The brand and model of your vehicle is not 'personal information' and can't be used to identify you in any way whatsoever...
(unless it is literally the only one ever made)
So cough it up- because quite frankly- no-one here even believes you HAVE a hybrid....
And yes- we ALL disagree with you....
(you may have noticed that every single comment is asking you- repeatedly- to simply say WHAT MODEL AND BRAND IS IT???)
Hell I got a red Toyota Corolla (petrol) and a turbo diesel Mercedes 912 here at my place- good luck on telling anything about me from THAT info....
(see how easy that was???)
What the hell- I'll even include bloody pictures of them....

The Aussie sun is hell on paint jobs (especially dark ones, as you can see on the Corolla)
Now its your turn Vixen- all we want is the MAKE and Model
Not the bloody rego number, Vin and insurance details!!!!
I have told you exactly what type of car I have. Full stop.
Obviously you have never been stalked. Lucky you. If you want to discuss how people get to be victims of stalkers, start a thread on it and I'll explain why protecting your personal information is not a joke.
I have told you exactly what type of car I have. Full stop.
Nope, it was a question of reality versus "anti-woke" commenters in the comments of Daily Mail stories and conspiracy theorists jumping on their bandwagon.
Dang! I've been busted.
So I have acknowledged.
... when lithium batteries were in their introductory stage, the dashboards weren't modified, it was likely just seen as another car component
Ok, I did say I was guessing. Still, it does seem strange to me; what turns the car on, opening the door or pressing the brake?
As JLR did launch Range Rover Sport in 2013 to 2014 it struck me that this Luton guy might have had an early prototype without it being officially labelled as having such a feature. That's all.
And yet when the same is asked of her- evasions and accusations....Nope, you have repeatedly and consistently claimed that that was just a repetition of a provisional statement made in response to a question at the initial press conference.
Far from acknowledging the fact, you continued to demand that you should be told the exact make and model of the vehicle.
I know you are being sarcastic but actually it would be very useful for the Fire Brigade to contact JLR to receive the powertrain diagram of this particular vehicle.

"When did you stop beating your wife?" logic.

But that wasn't my interest at all (no matter how much you try to frame it as such). As the report only came out three days ago I will await to see the response and the outcome to it. I will reserve my opinion until I understand more about what happened with the vehicle involved.
Did you just Google that? That modification would be very unusual in a petrol car. Either way, you did not get that rumour from the report you asked us to contrast with the Luton report. As I understand it, the Liverpool Range Rover was modified with a night heater.
Then why did you say "I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was a hybrid" just two days ago?I already said I accept what the report says about the vehicle type.
Sorry, this was meant to start with the quote of Zooterkin asking about how my car turns on.
It's progressive. Some things wake up when the door is opened, but the main thing is sitting in the driver's seat. There's a sensor that detects when you sit down. Then pressing the brake puts the car into ready mode. Some settings won't "take" until that has been done, often to the frustration of new owners.
Quite a good write up of the report here in LutonToday (if you can bear the ads).

A Range Rover Sport was captured on CCTV driving into Terminal Car Park 2, in Easy Way. Footage showed smoke coming from the bonnet as it entered, and by the time it reached the third floor, flames were coming from the engine. It is believed that the fire started due to an ‘electrical fault or component failure’ in the engine of the diesel-powered car.

Thanks, that's interesting. I could probably get used to that; my previous (non-EV) had keyless entry, you just needed the fob on your person, and grasping the door handle unlocked it. It felt like a step back when my current car required you to press a button on the door handle to unlock it! And putting a key in to start my partner's EV feels like a huge imposition compared with just pressing a button.

... One thing that can be annoying is that if you get out of the car even just to take off a jacket or wipe the windscreen, the car assumes you might be a different person when you sit down again and reverts some settings, most notably the LKA which is a pig and needs to be off, but the car keeps trying to make you have it on.
It needs driver profiles.
But when lithium batteries were in their introductory stage, the dashboards weren't modified, it was likely just seen as another car component and registered as diesel or petrol.
As JLR did launch Range Rover Sport in 2013 to 2014 it struck me that this Luton guy might have had an early prototype without it being officially labelled as having such a feature. That's all.
Erm... you'll "reserve your opinion" about what, exactly?
You just made that up too.
Your fantasy now requires that JLR announced their new models and began taking orders in 2013 for delivery in 2014 but the new feature for which the buyers were paying thousands extra was still just a prototype and the first buyers got unfinished cars with a non-hybrid dashboard and no HEV badging.
I know JLR gets a lot of flak for their quality control and reliability but that's just crazy nonsense. They're selling aspirational cars at high prices and they do not deliver pre-production lashups to customers.
It might have been all about spin for you and the 'management of expectations' of the communications teams on various media.
I couldn't care less about the propaganda, the PR and the 'sensitive' political issues.
That's the difference between you and me.
I think Vixen's position is that she has "acknowledged" and "accepted" that the Fire service did state categorically the car was a plain diesel, but she still does not believe that information is true. And yet, for some reason she will not say it is a lie either.
Is Luton Today lying to you?
Nota bene: the 'believed' applies to the electrical fault, not to the car being a diesel.
The driver used two fire extinguishers in a bid to put the fire out.
