Le Pen convicted.

The full verdict is in and Marine Le Pen has been sentenced to five years of ineligibility, with immediate effect – effectively ruling her out of the 2027 presidential race.

The judges also gave Le Pen a four-year prison sentence – of which two years are a suspended sentence – and a 100,000 euro fine.

She's appealing, so the judgement will probably be set aside for the time being. Predictably the other far right nutters around Europe were quick to decry it as 'Brussels' interfering with the will of the electorate...
 
I’m vaguely disappointed that I won’t get to vote against her in 2027. I’ll have to vote against one of her henchmen instead.

"I know all about it... A lot of people thought she wasn't going to be convicted of anything... She was the leading candidate. That sounds very much like this country."

Of course he will defend an embezzler. He embezzled his own charitable foundation.
 
Credit where it's due, Trump isn't a hypocrite. He molests women, and so, not only does he not criticize rapists and molesters, he openly mainstreams them. He's a crook, and does not criticize other crooks, but instead openly supports them. Credit where it's due: Trump's a vile lowlife, a sleazeball, and an utterly shameless creature, with not even the conception of right and wrong: but he's no hypocrite, not in this respect.
 
It's why the US should leave NATO, they can't be trusted when they jail political opponents or something.

She was the leading candidate in the polls, that's true, but that's mainly because she was the only known candidate so far. Macron can't run again, and no other party has said who will be running.

Funny, though in practice she'll most likely be tagged (like Sarkozy) for the first two years and then be on probation.
 
The funniest thing is she's been very vocally advocating severe sanctions, and permanent ineligibility, against any elected official condemned during their tenure …

It is the same "playbook" that was used against me by a group of Lunatics and Losers, like Norm Eisen, Andrew Weissmann, and Lisa Monaco. They spent the last nine years thinking of nothing else, and they FAILED, because the People of the United States realized that they were only Corrupt Lawyers and Politicians. I don't know Marine Le Pen, but do appreciate how hard she worked for so many years. She suffered losses, but kept on going, and now, just before what would be a Big Victory, they get her on a minor charge that she probably knew nothing about - Sounds like a "bookkeeping" error to me. It is all so bad for France, and the Great French People, no matter what side they are on. FREE MARINE LE PEN!

Preventing a politician from running for office (i.e. "lawfare") is Fascism. This business against Le Pen is the third case I've seen ....... unless we go back in time to Adolf Hitler, etc.
