The new adventures of intrepid sceptic and comic Lawrence Leung are revealed in a fascinating and fun series that investigates the unbelievable. It's Mythbusters meets Ghostbusters as Lawrence embarks on a mind-bending quest to examine the irrational and the impossible.

With his curious not so scientific research and real-life experiments, Lawrence Leung's Unbelievable pokes fun at our own misconceptions and tests the limits of our beliefs. It's a six-part search for truth that you will have to see to believe.

In this first episode, Lawrence sets out to discover if psychic powers exist. Lawrence encounters Australia's best psychic, an American who can drive a car blindfolded, and ultimately transforms himself into a psychic to try to win a million dollars.

Dunno if it's viewable outside of Australia, but if it is...you're welcome.

I'm watching it now on iView and it is fantastic.

It also has other JREF things in it, like the million dollar challenge and the randi.org website. Randi's Don Lane appearance is also shown, and during the project alpha reveal.

And Banachek does some magic. Excellent.

And then Leung reads Randi's mind and things. :)

Doesn't seem to be. :(

Just watched it. Outstanding. A couple of the Chaser guys were involved in production.

Who was the woman with Randi and Banacek (sp) on the panel near the end?

I am not in Australia, but I found this show on the Internets.

I know nothing of the host, except that he's a hairy fellow. But this was a funny, skeptical (sorry, sceptical) show. I loved the "karaoke" bit. :D Just goes to show how little reading a cold reading really requires.

I also think the blindfold drive is not done enough these days. A relatively old effect, but still quite effective. :)

Been meaning to catch this. Should be up on iview yes?

ETA: doh! Read OP numbskull. :p

The second episode was not as good as the first but it was still good.

I am be interested in playing around with a ouija board. I've never used one.

Ah, I thought so after I read your Ouija board comment.

Should be good. Too bad the people who I want to watch this sort of stuff, or who should, will never watch it.

Watched both episodes.
The first was very funny and gave you some idea about cold reading.
The second a bit tamer.
The seance in the make believe haunted house was good.
I assume it was not set up with actors.
When L.L. told them it was all a set up, one of the believers said she bought the spirit with her.
Believers retaining their beliefs with evidence against them.
The old saying is so true.
******** beats brains, always.

I enjoyed this episode on magic. It's different from the others, but I enjoyed it a lot in a different way. As somebody involved in magic and somebody who has spoken with Tim Ellis and rewatched Lance Burton tapes often years ago and so on.

The point about aiming for the lay audience to enjoy it was a good point, because for the past couple of years I have been focusing too much on wanting my methods to be invisible to other magicians, and having standards unrealistically high and being too nervous because of that to perform.

And I have taken out my deck of those cards with names on them, to play around with them. It's an excellent little effect, but not one I have performed many times. That will change.

At abc.net Lawrence Lueng's Unbelievable has two eps available - UFOs and the Magic ep. I live in Minnesota.

This current episode about convincing a skeptic he is a psychic is interesting...

But not informative.

He got to travel to the UK to make an episode he could have made in Australia. No fool Lawrence.

I love him reading the lyrics to crappy pop tunes and the subjects just lapping it up.

"So, who let the dogs out?".... absotively hysterical.

I found it to be generally very good. true, the skeptic / psychic one was just okay, and I found the ghost / UFO ones a bit dull, but overall it was well worth the time.

I read this morning that LL has a new show out (in time for the Edinburgh festival) about building his own rocket pack. Sounds tuttyfillarious.
