George Santos charged with defrauding campaign donors

It's his own fault for running for office.

It is an old truism that if you have something you want to hide, a secret you didn't want known - DON'T run for public office - because your opponents will do a search into your past well beyond what the police might do.

New York Congressman George Santos is doubling down against the ethics committee report alleging his misuse of campaign funds. Meanwhile, another House vote to expel him is expected this week. Ethics committee member Rep. Glenn Ivey joins MSNBC’s Symone Sanders-Townsend to discuss what to expect.
Congressman George Santos in hot water: House Ethics Committee Member reveals what's next (MSNBC on YouTube, Nov 27, 2023 - 7:40 min)

"Oh no, I lied to everyone to get into office and now that I'm accused of various crimes, nobody believes me! How did that happen?"

It's official. George Santos has been expelled. There will be a special election to fill his seat.

"Since he was not convicted of a crime George Santos retains access to the House floor, dining room, gym and cloakroom but not security."

So my biggest takeaway is that Congress has a Cloakroom and our Congress people don't wear cloaks.

(Yes I'm sure it's just a glorified coatcheck room)

Are you sure about this? That doesn't seem likely to me. But it is not likely that Santos will walk back into that building except as a tourist 20 years from now.

Or for a Jan 6 2025 photo op.

That's what CNN is saying:

Santos retains certain privileges: Unlike previous modern-day expulsions – of Democrat Michael Myers in 1980 and Democrat Jim Traficant in 2002 – Santos has not been convicted of a felony. House rules stipulate that until there is a conviction, Santos retains some privileges as a now-former member of Congress, including access to the House floor, dining room, gym and cloakroom but not security.

The expulsion resolution could have stripped Santos of those privileges, but there is no clause in the motion to do that. Both Traficant’s and Myer’s privileges were stripped immediately following the expulsion vote because they had been convicted of their crimes.

But that could change: The House makes rules changes all the time regarding privileges for former members. Privileges were stripped for former members during the Covid-19 pandemic, and floor privileges are usually restricted for former members for the State of the Union address. Should Santos 1) be expelled; and 2) continue to exercise the privileges as a former member, it's expected a rules change would come to address that issue.

I expect they'll bar him from the premises the second or third time he's caught stealing stuff from there.

Well, it only took those stupid, idiotic, lying Republicans three times to give that POS Santos the boot.

So, I guess that means if another Trump impeachment issue ever happens to reach the US House of Representatives, then Trump will finally get booted as well.

But in the meantime, I am glad that at least for the time being, there is one less POS in the House.

How the hell did he get 100+ members to vote to not expell him. This should have been unanimous.

Well one is a child rapist who doesn't want precedent set. Another is one who lied to authorities to protect a different child rapist (and quite possibly is a child rapist himself) to ensure that child rapist (his boss) got off.

I'm sure if you looked at all those who voted to acquit, not one hasn't committed at least one serious crime.

The GOP members who voted against this are afraid those guns will be pointing at them soon enough.

The ones who voted for this did so because Santos made the mistake of stealing from rich people.

Phase 1: get elected
Phase 2: get booted
Phase 3: profit

He may have time to write a book, go on an apology tour, and star in a biopic before he winds up in prison.

Assuming he stays out of prison there's a long career in being a talking head about how horrible the liberals treated him and oh by the way want to buy this 100 dollar a bottle male performance supplement for him.

I don't think so. It's not like he's a macho testosterone filled heterosexual who hates the LGBT community. He ain't selling what Republicans are buying these days.

Seems to be he'll be anyone he needs to be if there's a paycheck in it.

You forgot the part about him being a gay Latino who "walked away" from the democrats or some nonsense.

Oh yeah. The GOP is scarily good at turning Liberal identity politics against themselves.

Like if there's one Conservative transgender immigrant black Muslim lesbian autistic in a wheelchair on the planet they are gonna find them.

Because we live in the stupidest timeline, Santos has gone on Twitter to air some dirty laundry of Republicans in the House, mostly members of the New York delegation.

In a positively Trumpian late night tweet-storm, he goes after:

Nicole Malliotakis from Staten Island
Monday I will be filling an official complaint with the Office of congressional Ethics against
@NMalliotakis
regarding her questionable stock trading since joining the Ways and Means committee this Congress.

Before joining the committee the congresswoman didn’t have an active trading habit or a high volume stake.

The question is, what set of information is she trading with?

He also makes some veiled accusations about her
Let’s talk about hypocrisy.

Can someone ask Nicole MalioStockTips when did she become a savant in stock trading?

The signature bank trades she did REEKS of insider trading much like Paul Pelosi’s every trade!

Nicole is in it for herself! Just look at her record and it speaks for itself.

Nicole MalioStockTips is a dirty dishonorable swamp creature selling the American people down a river for her own benefit.

@NMalliotakis
the difference between you and I is that I don’t live in denial, I’m a PROUD GAY man and I’m not afraid to say it.

He also went after Mike LAwler of NY-17, who flipped the district fro ma centrist coward
On Monday I will be filling an Ethics complaint against
@RepMikeLawler
for questionable campaign finance violations.

Congressman Lawler owns portion of Checkmate Strategies and he uses the same firm that he is a beneficiary of to pay for services related to his campaign.

The concerning questions are; is Mr Lawler engaging in laundering money form his campaign to his firm then into his own pocket?

I will let the Office of Congressional Ethics be the judge of that.

He talks about Nick Lolata of Long Island for...something
On Monday the 3rd ethics report I’ll be submitting to the Office of Congressional Ethics is on
@RepLaLota
.

It has been raised in the local media that congressman Lalota obtained his JD attending Hofstra in day school while he was supposed to be working at the Board of elections at the same time.

The questionable actions are? Did Rep Lalota no-show to his tax pay funded job while going to school and if so he can potential have stolen public funds form the tax payers of NY.

I will let the Office of Congressional Ethics determine the validity of this grave allegation raised in his local media.

He talked about Senator Bob Menendez son, who serves i nthe House
Mondays 4th Ethics report will be filled on Congressman Menendez (not to be confused with the senator).

While congressman Menedez has not been invoked by the diligent investigation of the DOJ into his father, there remains a question of what did he know and when did he know it, the complaint is to seek clarification from the freshman congressman on his involvement with his fathers overseas dealing over the years and any potential compensation he received.

I think it’s a fair point to make sure we weed out the doubt surrounding Rep Menendez and his business associations with his father.

I will leave it to the office of congressional ethics to investigate the material I’ll be submitting to them.

And Brandon Williams representing NY-22

Update on the outlandish behavior of @RepWilliams.

I am told that there will be an ethics complaint filed with OCE and potentially a police report for assault.

A very Drunken Brandon Williams attacked two former staffers who resigned from his officer earlier this year due to his terrible temperament and awful treatment of his staff.

Brandon on Thursday November 30th physically assaulted one of the staffers after he threatened the other one by saying he would end him.

Long story short, this is just more exposure of the rot and decay of the pompous ******** in Washington DC that “represent” no one but themselves.

Rep Williams should resign in disgrace for attacking young staffers and always being in a drunken tirade in the chambers reeking of alcohol.

I don’t have a horse in the race so I won’t file the complaint but look forward to sharing a copy of it when it’s given to me.

"I did something bad but it's a travesty I got punished for it because the people who punished me also did something bad" is peak Republican.

These people really think if you commit a triple homicide but one of the members of the jury was double parked while the verdict was being read you should be able to get off scott free.

They have perverted "hypocrisy" into "I'm go do anything I want because nobody else is transcendently perfect and flawless enough to ever pass judgement me without being a hypocrite."

It's been common in the past to accuse Democrats of forming a circular firing squad, but it seems the Republicans have become enamored of the symmetry. Good to see.

Yes but (usually) when Democrats disagree it is because they are actual fully formed adults who just have different opinions because they are human beings who think differently in a natural, organic way.

Republicans do it because they can't agree on how to properly be members of a Death Cult.

I have in the past and will in the future take the Democrats to task on occasion for not being able to get along, but I don't put them anywhere near the same category as the Republicans.

Phase 3 is coming to fruition sooner than I imagined. His price has gone up 4x in just a few days due to popularity.

George Santos Is on Cameo, Charging $200 $350 a Pop for Birthday, Holiday, and “Gossip” Videos

The price is now $400, apparently. He was on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, at 6:50 to 11:00, and will be on every show next week:
President Biden will be in Los Angeles tomorrow for fundraisers, last night was the not-so-highly anticipated Republican debate and Vivek Ramaswamy rattled off a litany of ridiculous conspiracy theories, Ron DeSantis somehow turned into the kid who never gets invited to a birthday party, Donald Trump was back in court today and brought Eric along with him, Jimmy sent George Santos a number of ridiculous Cameo requests to find out just how far he will go, and the Chanucorn stops by to celebrate the first night of Hanukkah!

A Message For George Santos, From George Santos
(The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on YouTube, Dec 12, 2023 - 1:10 min)

Matt Damon was unfortunately nominated for a Golden Globe, Shohei Otani signed a $700 million deal with the LA Dodgers, federal prosecutors have charged Hunter Biden with nine crimes, Donald Trump didn’t show up to testify today in NY after saying he would, he had plenty to say on Saturday at the gala for the New York Young Republicans, George Santos is on Cameo and claims to have made more money in seven days than he did in Congress for a year, Jimmy sent him a bunch of crazy requests just to see what he would read and George is now demanding $20,000 from Jimmy saying he wants to be paid a commercial rate, we release two more of the videos we had him record, and we surprise a lucky family with a Christmas card photo starring George Clooney!
