George Santos charged with defrauding campaign donors

As opposed to Trump saying something and the next day asserting that he never said it?

…….

ETA
Although I think I see your point. If it were me I’d say “a wounded vet, with tears in his eyes, came to me and said ‘Sir. You may have said untrue things, but we need you in Congress to save our country. If your embellishments are what is required to overcome the blatant Unconstitutional cheating of those Democrats, then we will accept your embellishments.’”

Hey , both Santos and Trump are stupid liars. Their lies are so easily exposed.

Which means that they must be fundamentally honest.

It's the Democrats who are skilled liars (and hence fundamentally dishonest) because their lies are impossible to disprove. ;)

Republican parents to child: "Your teacher called today and said you lied to her several times this week. Good job! Keep it up and you'll grow up to be president of these here United States of America!

Pathological liar, clearly needs help.

But also a fraud, he should step down immediately or be expelled.

His win is based on lies. Is this what the GOP wants?

The GOP has made it clear that they only care about enriching themselves and the billionaire class.

Sadly, that argument was sincerely made in this forum by some Trumpsters.

I am assuming that he would need to go through some documentation process when he stands for election. Since it is an election for House Representative, it would be considered federal. Isn't there some rule about lying in federal filings?

Well, one congressman is trying to make sure there is.

Ritchie Torres introduces SANTOS Act to punish any members of Congress who lie under oath about their employment, military service or education.

BIG NEWS: I am introducing a bill to require candidates to disclose under oath their employment, educational, & military history so we can punish candidates who lie to voters about their qualifications.

It will be called the Stop Another Non-Truthful Office Seeker (SANTOS) ACT.

A Santos Act? Couldn't the bundle it up with other stuff in a portmanteau Act - a sort of Santos Clause?

:duck:

I wish I'd woken up one morning to discover his entire presidency had only been a long, detailed nightmare a la Pam Ewing in Dallas.

When was George Santos president? In the same universe where Nelson Mandela died in prison?

I would understand sanctions by Congress if his behavior was a surprise. But he was literally called out for being a liar during the election. It was easy to understand that he was dishonest. kicking him out doesn't help his district, but insults the very citizens who voted for him.....that they must be treated like children

Boy's new name is "Pants on Fire".

Jesus Christ! LOL! I was thinking I was in the Trump thread! They're both such liars it's hard to tell one liar thread from another. :p

seriously? ""Surprise" is a determine factor?

Yes. The voters had a chance to evaluate his pre-election lying. They decided, don't deny their representation because you don't like their determination

ETA: And of course there will be more lies
...he is a liar. The voters judged his character and found it acceptable. Further, it isn't like he is part of the custodial staff there; his job just isn't that important.

NO, they didn’t. They knew that he lied about a couple of things but they didn’t know that he liead about almost everything.

Let's try it like this:

I would understand sanctions by The Board of Surgeons if his alarming surgical death rates was a surprise. But he was literally called out for being a annoying doctor during his medical residency. It was easy to understand that he was annoying. Revoking his medical license doesn't help all the people he has killed, but insults the very patients who he wants to operate on in future.....that they must be treated like children.

Doesn't work because what he is being accused of doing isn't a responsibility of the group policing himm If it was the honesty club I would agree. But they are allowed to lie.

So if I understand you correctly, you find it perfectly acceptable for a person to lie on their CV/resume, in order to get the job they are applying for?

You might get back a reply borne of the Libertarian's nirvana where it's the Darwinesque wild west, no rules, might makes right, dog eat dog, survival of the fittest. If you're too dumb to look out for your own best interests, you deserve the fate awaiting.
