General UK politics VIII - The Last Tory

Oh dear. Wait till he finds out the ethnicity of Thomas Hamilton (Dunblane), Allan Grimson (North Shields) or Jake Davison (Plymouth). He'll go absolutely bananas when he finds out where Fred and Rose, Ian and Myra and Lucy Letby come from. Brit patriots just don't do that kind of thing.

And we all remember the attacks on doctor's surgeries after Harold Shipman was caught, and the attacks on police stations when Wayne Couzens was arrested for killing Sarah Everard...

I do remember the attack on a Paediatrician in Portsmouth because the geniuses don't like 'Paedos' & got wound up and set in the wrong direction by The Sun.

Has the suspect been named? The link you provide just says Starmer said it was a matter for the courts to decide. The person arrested with a flick knife has been named, 'Jordan Davies' disappointing un-Islamic for some tastes.

Yes
The suspect in the Southport stabbings has been named as Axel Muganwa Rudakubana, 17, after restrictions preventing him from being identified were lifted

The Welsh decision to lower urban speed limits is having the desired effect.

The number of serious casualties or fatalities has dropped 23%, with 78 people killed or seriously injured on both 20mph and 30mph roads, compared to 101 serious casualties in the first quarter of 2023, before the default 20mph.

When minor injuries are included, the figures still show a 26% reduction for casualties of all severities.

Presumably on the other side of the ledger is all the trauma and suffering endured by drivers who had to go a wee bit slower.

They smelt of the pubs , and wormwood scrubs and too many right wing meetings.

Sideshow God thinks that he can get away with inciting racial and religious hatred without any negative consequences because he is dressing up as fake vicar. Prosecuting this toxic **** would be good start to the crackdown.

not a squeak from the Opposition benches on this weeks events. You think they could give reform a right kicking over it but silence!

Makes you wonder, but then, maybe not

Karma and/or schadenfreude. "Brick Dick" on Twitter.

Thanks to Rat for highlighting this for me.

In case you haven't seen it, it involves a 'protestor' at the disgusting and despicable 'protest' in Southport last night. As he struts towards the riot police, goading them, a brick thrown by his own side hits him on the back of the head while another bounces off a police shield into his shoulder. Then, as he turns to stagger away, another hits him squarely in the bollocks. Brilliant stuff.

Having not driven for many years I inherited a car last year. I noticed a lot of the rural villages around here (central Scotland) now have 20 mph limits. There's not been any particular fanfare or controversy around this, as far as I've been aware.

I've not been to Scotland, but quite a few cities in England have them - I 've seen them in London and Portsmouth. The main difference in Wales is that 20mph is now the default instead of 30mph in built-up areas.

Farage says people setting fire to public services and attacking police was nothing compared to what is to come.

Helping calm the situation there

Meanwhile not a peep from the Tories.

Has been like that in Ireland since 2018 (with 30kph being the limit in residential areas). Not a peep out of anybody. Said this before, but I was over in Wales March of last year with the car when they were piloting the limit in Swansea. My brother told me that his local facebook group were up in arms about the limit calling it all sorts of names under the sun. He told me this while I was doing 10kph around the local roads because they were in such a state that I was afeared of doing my suspension in if I went faster.

See also France. 50kph in outer areas, 30kph in inner

Here in Finland, they are pressing to increase the speed limit on main motorways to 130kph from 100kph. Urban area limits are 50kph and town centres 30kph. Country roads (A roads) tend to be very narrow, hilly (albeit small ones) and winding yet the speed limit is 60 kph. It's a country full of would-be rally drivers and boy racers but I can never understand why people are in such a frantic hurry to get from point A to point B.

Jimmy Dimly has chipped in. It's all Keir Starmer's fault:

Shadow home secretary James Cleverly believes the prime minister and home secretary need to “do more” to restore public order and “send a clear message to the thugs”.

The Tory leadership contender said in a statement on Saturday: “In opposition Labour voted against public order measures we brought forward to give our police more powers to keep our streets clear, calm and safe, and Keir Starmer taking the knee sent completely the wrong message.

And, of course, nothing to do with Tory Home Secretaries spouting anti-immigration rhetoric.

Apparently Starmer and Labour have 'lost the country' and there needs to be another election to put in a new government that has a 'real' mandate.

Apparently Britain doesn't have a far right problem. It has a problem with a left wing elite that has for decades ignored the legitimate concerns of ordinary working class people.

Yes Rachel, it is many millions of decent fair kind and principled who are so angry at what the liberal lefties like you have allowed to happen in the UK

You are repeating what hack 'Ross Clark' said in the SUN. The riots are the fault of the Liberal elite and the result of Starmer's five minutes in power.

What we need is a strong leader...like iron fist Fuhrer Farage. No more namby-pamby elections. Enough is enough. <fx clicks heels>

Ours are specifically for residential areas so generally are seen a bit further out. I live in Cobh so my estate Rushbrooke has a 30kph speed limit (which is good, lots of families, some very big {if hilly} green areas and kids out playing in them), but the promenade in the town centre is a 50kph zone still (though the chances of you doing fifty along the prom are nil with all the tourists).

Lozza says of the riots.

Yesterday the prime minister declared a war on his own people.

Today, this is their response.

He should call press conference tomorrow and apologise, or call a vote of no confidence in himself.

Not been in power a month and just look at the state of it.

It's almost as though it was all planned.

Nobody has done more to sow division among the British people than race-obsessed Labour.

Remember that.

Small reality check, most people don't know who Tice is, and couldn't care less what is being spouted on Twitter. The fact is what people are seeing is thugs attacking police officers and looting shops, and the police are already rounding them up.

It's rampant. Lozza Fox. Tice, 30p Lee, various right wing mouthpieces.

The Shoezone was on the news burning. they looted a Greggs and smashed the windows and destroyed a travel agents as well.

Several mobile phone shops looted and smashed up as well.

Spellow Library in North Liverpool has been set alight by rioters.

There is no difference between Farage, Tice, 30p Lee, Fox and etc and the Islamic hate preachers of the 2000s like Abu Hamza.

Treat them the same.
