Fact checking section removed from Google news?

I take it Google News is an app I don't use.

I've never seen a fact-checking page/widget on the Google app or the Chrome app.

Does this page help?

I found it in a Google search for "google news fact check" and it's the first result.
Nope. Up to a day or so ago when I went to the news.google.com site, at the bottom of the page, after stories under the headings Your briefing Friday, June 20, Top stories, More news ,Your topics, Canada, Business, and Entertainment, there used to be four links to stories that were fact checked by fact checking sites like Scopes.

No more.

UPDATE. Searching for >fact-checking removed from Google News< tells me it has gone but the page it redirects me to won't open. :(

Not to get all conspiratorial but we seem to be living in an era where facts don't matter very much any more.
I don't know how effective "fact check" type reporting is anymore in terms of countering misinformation. The people who could theoretically benefit have been brainwashed into thinking that the fact-checkers themselves have a liberal agenda and should therefore be ignored.

I'm not being terribly conspiratorial but just wondering why Google stopped doing it.

Whatever minimal effect it may have had, it's discontinuance must be seen as negative.

I have used Snopes to provide logical debunking of CTs posted by friends and colleges rather than arguing the point myself many times over the years.

When the Internet was a friendly place only populated by us nerds I was a reader of and a poster to the Usenet Newsgroup alt.folklore.urban from whence Snopes was created. Without promotion I fear it will be gone and we'll all live in our own little echo chambers.

:(

With Google it will be for one reason and one reason only - money - it either saves them money not providing it or it somehow generates more revenue for them not supplying it.

When the Internet was a friendly place occupied by you nerds, we got Godwin's Law and corollary.

Also, before asking why Google stopped, maybe ask why they started.

Fact checking has been removed from the Google News page.

Am I not allowed to wonder why?

Any one know of a reported explanation?

:geesh
