Face, meet leopard. Leopard, meet face.

From what I can tell, the people Harris needed to connect with didn't think was talking to them. If she had more time maybe she could have fixed that.

Then there was the Biden problem. He wasn't actually able to sell anything. People weren't listening as a result. He shouldn't have run for a second term.
Harris' big problem (and by extension the whole party's) is that she was chasing the illusory never-Trampy voter and ignored her own base and disillusioned voters that just switched off because neither party is willing to offer them anything. It's is never god idea to triangulate your strategy to chase after a more right wing party, it just hands the field to them.

I guess all soldiers in the US army that voted for Trump can be added to the list?
I'd be a tad upset that confidential orders that could get everyone killed are sent openly using a public app.

_____ is trying to get rid of the Dept. of Education. It turns out that in general red states are far more dependent on federal funding for their school districts than are blue states.
One thing that I could possibly see happening...

The federal government cuts funding for the Department of Education. Instead it elects to just contribute money directly to the state government.

Blue states use the money as expected, to support schools.

Red states instead use the money to cut taxes.

This thread always makes me think of The Python by Hilaire Belloc, which ends...

I had an aunt in Yuccatan
who bought a python from a man
and kept it for a pet.
She died because she never knew
these simple little rules and few,
The snake is living yet.

"Within the range"? There are tens of millions more people in the USA now than 1970. So when the vote count does not change much, that constitutes a net loss of votes, i.e. a reduced turnout. When small fractions of the vote count make a big difference, that matters.
Voter turnout can be measured as the percent of registered voters who actually vote. That implicitly controls for the change in population.
If true, the message I read from that is they didn't want any more of Trump. So they would have just as likely voted for Harris or Obama or any other Dem if they had been the candidate then.
Meh. My take on it is that the didn't want Trump... but they were disappointed enough with the Democratic party performance, as well as how Harris was handed to them without them being consulted or even considered, that the difference in suckitude is really no longer relevant. If the world's going to hell in a handbasket, does anyone really care what color the handbasket is?

One of the handbaskets wasn't headed for hell.

(Didn’t know the German word for leopard - turns out I’ve been using the German word all along - leopard.)

Sounds like something a profoundly stupid sociopath would say.

But I’m glad we’ve already reached the part where Trump is so undeniably terribly that his apologists shrug their shoulders and tell us everything was already terrible so it doesn’t matter. Only took about two months this time.

Despite all of the evidence to the contrary, right JKarate?
The Biden economy was robust and improving and that's only one area where USA was doing well.
The trumpublic party is very good at messaging propaganda bull ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊. The U.S. had the best post-COVID economy amoung its peer nations, but the dems could not counter the constant noise emanating from the maga-machine. Now we're gonna experience a trump-dump on Wall Street, tariff-driven trumpflation, and a dilution of social safety nets when they will be needed more than ever. But Donnie Diapers and Leon will keep shovelling the bull ◊◊◊◊ and maga idiots will lap it up.

The Economist was saying that whoever won the election was going to inherit an amazing economy.

If Trump had done nothing but play golf he could have said “see! Look at what miracles I have performed and it is so easy for me!” Some Democrats would have grumbled that he did nothing to earn it but most people in the US probably would not have cared if the economy was doing well.

Instead, he couldn’t resist his own narcissism and his own cultists from dismantling anything that works and putting his own lunatic vision into effect. That and surrounding himself with the absolute most insane lackeys, disgusting people such as RFK Jr, Tulsi Gabbard, Elon Musk, Hegseth and JD Vance. Even the people who were just bad became worse - Rubio, for example. I mean, remember when they tried to make a sex trafficker of minors the Attorney General?

If the American electorate looked at that choice and looked at Harris and decided to go with the former because they couldn’t tell the difference, they may as well be smearing their faces with barbecue sauce.

That last sentence did not end how I expected it to.

Incidentally, and people can correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 13 years of service and only reaching E-4 really bad?
Although I was reading it as Navy, and Air Force Reserves. I suppose if it's meant to be Navy Reserves, and Air Force Reserves, advancement may be slower.
There's a bottleneck at e-4. You have to go to NCOIC (sergeant school) before you can be promoted, and another version of it before you can be promoted again. If you want to go to NCOIC, you'll usually have to request it.

Basically, anything above E-4 means that you're in a supervisory position. Not everyone even wants to be a supervisor. Furthermore, the number of positions available is specifically limited in any given unit.

So yeah, it's no longer a matter of seniority beyond that point. But the average person would usually be able to get beyond it within 3-4 years if they want it in the regular army. In the reserves, it gets weird... depends upon whether the C.O. is your personal best friend in my experience (which is why I left the reserves rather promptly).

Note: The post I answered was way back in the early parts of the thread... didn't realize how long it was before deciding to answer.

:D I provided a similar response way back then.

This particular leopard is kinda cute, and she's also an advocate of critical thinking - unlike the two idiots she is talking about.
I had never heard about Jeremy Dale Hambly (TheQuartering) or Luke Bukowski (@LukeWeAreChange), but, man, they're dumb! Is this the best that the 'manosphere' can come up with? Is this what's supposed to be "Alpha energy" nowadays?
It's pathetic!
And women are supposed to be "more susceptible to groupthink and propaganda" than these two pseudo MAGAlphas! 🤣
And institutions of higher learning "are really just propaganda woke factories" because "those institutions have been hijacked by the woke mind virus and the intel agencies."
It's no wonder that they have come to see education as emasculation.

Luke Bukowski is well known in the 9/11 CT forum as a 9/11 conspiracy theorist. So it doesn't surprise me that he's fallen for dumbass incel culture.

I have a vague recollection he is/was also a member here.

It makes no sense... unless Trump is Putin's agent.

Trump's properties have literally been entangled with the Russian mafia in NYC since the 1980s. Thus, that wouldn't be surprising. The only thing missing is actual proof on that score. There is no shortage of indicators. His casinos were even fined for violating regulations to prevent money laundering once or twice, and a lot of his money came straight from Russia in mysterious ways.

But there's no sense going into that mess unless there's enough proof for a conviction of some sort.

The Russian and Arabian banks are much better at covering their tracks for money laundering than Trump is at being a useful idiot and front man. Despite his protestations, Trump gets his marching orders from his bank managers.
