Donald Trump has been indicted criminally in four jurisdictions. (So far.) But that is just a beginning of his legal problems.

He was also found responsible for sexually assaulting a woman and defaming her after. (Which he is appealing) He is facing additional suits for defamation from the same woman.

His company is facing a 250 million dollar suit which could result in him and his children being banned from operating any business in the state of New York.

He is also suing Michael Cohen for 500 million dollars. (A number he pulled out of his ass.) What’s funny is that Trump refused to sit for a deposition in a case he brought to the court. But the judge has ordered Trump to be deposed on September 6th. The bet is he won't show up and he will either drop the case or it will be dismissed.

Anyway, I'm convinced a catchall for Trump’s legal adventures is required. Feel free to comment about any legal issues that Trump, his family and associates are dealing with.

I'm not convinced that is the reason. Even Trump understands he can't take it with him.
Whether that be prison or the great beyond. This is much more likely being done for tax reasons.

The greatest crime in Trump’s mind is letting the government have a huge part or even any part of his ill-begotten fortune.

Trump is being sued for copyright infringement by singer Eddy Grant over Trump's posting of a campaign video that used the song "Electric Avenue" without permission. Trump has been deposed, but there is no trial date.

Trump has sued Mary Trump and Hillary Clinton because they were mean to him. The lawsuit against Clinton was tossed, but Trump has said he will appeal. The lawsuit against Mary Trump is still ongoing (although a similar lawsuit against the Times has already been dismissed.)
 
In addition to the existing indictments, and a host of civil lawsuits, there are a few other areas where Trump could face criminal charges:

- fraud charges over his use of donations related to his "top the steal" campaign

- criminal charges for financial fraud (for the same things that he is being sued for by Leticia James). Alvin Bragg (the current prosecutor) has declined to press charges so far, but there is a chance that if James is successful, he could decide to go after Trump after all

Republicans using music without permission during ads, rallies, and other events happens so often that it's easily forgotten now. My favorite was when Scott Walker used a Dropkick Murphys song at the Iowa Freedom Summit in 2015 and their response was "Please stop using our music in any way…we literally hate you!!!"

Personally, I wonder if it's because they assume that the record companies own the songs and as corporations, they'll support the Republicans and let them do whatever they want.

No, that's not it.

They will do whatever they want until somebody stops them. They simply count on not being stopped. At least for a while. The law requires the owners of trademarks and copyrights to protect their own copyrights. So one must take actions to get them someone to stop which begins with a cease and desist letter. You must do that before you file suit.

Then they'll just infringe on somebody else's copyrights and trademarks.

Do you know who the biggest thieves of copyrights and trademarks are? Christian organizations. That's because the copyright owner doesn't want to be seen as against Christianity.

I had an uncle who liked to violate zoning codes and the like, whose motto was "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission." I think that's the catch phrase for a lot of people, and it seems especially popular with politicians.

What I'm waiting for but with only a modicum of bated breath is Trump being actually charged with witness tampering and intimidation, which is his usual MO, but which he always seems to get away with. It sounds as if the Georgia folks are being a bit more specific, and it will be interesting to see if he can color within the lines this time.

It works. Most of the time. But it can backfire. I saw a developer in Seattle who ignored the zoning laws having to tear down a million dollar home. A judge in Seattle hired a landscaping company to cut down trees that were on public property to improve his view. He not only had to pay a hefty fine, but had to pay to replace the trees with other adult trees. A very expensive process. So not only didn’t he end up with his view, he paid a lot of money and ruined his reputation.

No. Palm Beach Daily News said that they investigated and Zillow agreed they erroneously published a listing.

Unless you mean the business ownership of Mar-a-Lago. I think Jr owns that since last year.

But there's still a use for the precise threads on each case. If you remember, it was a terrible mess trying to keep track on cases when we only had the Criminal Charges and the Trump Presidency threads.

But there is a use for this, to discuss funding, general stuff and maybe lawyer stuff.

We may find it difficult to keep track with court dates being long apart and in many different courts. But to him it has to be a well marked calendar with frequent calls from various lawyers.
He lives in a world of constant reminders that his presidencial impunity is gone.

Decades of crimes and endless court delays gumming up the system have failed. Mob boss tactics are getting him in more troubles now. Not the consequences most of us hope for, yet, but courts have wised up and it will bite him.

Now it's time to set back and watch it all catch up on him.

I'm not convinced he does recognise his own mortality. Even if he does I'd half expect him to order the whole building sealed in concrete with him sitting for Eternity on his golden 'throne' (surrounded by boxes of classified documents).

Though organisations are beginning to push back against christian copyright thiefs and plagiarisers in a big way the last few years. The creators and parent corporations have copped on to how damaging the christers twisting their products is.

There was a one-shot villain in the Avengers comic book decades ago, a rich arrogant businessman/engineer who learned he was terminally ill and decided there was no point in the world continuing to exist if he wasn't in it. He built a device that would destroy the world when his heart stopped beating. I'm not having a problem picturing Trump trying to Push The Button if had learned he was dying while he was in office.

I don't think Trump understands there even is a world outside of himself. To him, his own death means the end of the universe automatically because nothing exists but him.

As for his "bottomless pit" of legal problems, do have faith: it's not bottomless, and eventually he's going to land with a very hearty thump! There will be considerable splash. Those nearest will be thoroughly drenched, and serve them right.

Still the copyright and trademark owners are constantly playing whack a mole with Christian Organizations. There are 100,000+ of them. First you have to find out they're doing it and then you have to send them the cease and desist letter, then you have to sue them after they fail to promptly stop.

With the exception of Donald Trump, nobody grifts as much and as often as Christian organizations.

That was a main plot point of the movie "Tenet," and one of the few things I understood in the whole thing.
 
By the way, there is another area that Trump may face legal issues...

Special counsel Jack Smith’s probe of efforts by Donald Trump and others to subvert the 2020 election remains ongoing — with at least one interview this week that focused on fundraising and spending by Trump’s political action committee... The special counsel has long been thought to be scrutinizing whether Trump or his PAC violated federal laws by raising money off claims of voter fraud they knew were false.

I certainly do hope this results in indictments against Trump... at least 9... I'd like to see the total bumped up to triple digits.
 
There is a very clear bottom, in that Trump is a rather obviously unfit man pushing up on 80 years of age, and sooner or later he's going to die and be unburdened by any legal woes.

I don't mean this entirely as snark, there's a very real ticking clock for anyone trying to take action against Trump. Criminal charges end at death, and some kinds of civil cases may as well, IANAL. Anyone with a legal claim against Trump probably ought to take action sooner rather than later.

There was a court case where a politician used a song, and the artist said no you can't. (The pol paid the standard song rental fee, so to speak.)

Anyway, the court ruled the purpose of copyright was to earn you money, not not earn you money lording over it.

AFAIK this hasn't gone to the supreme court.

Rumors are that criminal indictments will soon include Arizona and possibly Michigan.

Trump is the most corrupt and criminal President in US history. It's catching up to him. But his tactics to delay and obstruct justice has served him well. Justice for his victims is slow to come and there is a good chance the turd will die preventing actual justice.

Sounds like a moronic decision.

The purpose of copyrights is and always has been ownership of a piece of property. Just like any other piece of property the owner gets to decide how it is used and how much is paid for it. He has every right to tell a tampon company they may not use their song in an advertisement.

To be fair, the process is the punishment. Spending years dragging out criminal proceedings is no picnic. Sure, it beats serving time, but it still sucks. These cases seem highly likely to occupy Trump's attention and drain his financial resources exactly when he needs both to try to win the Presidency, assuming he's not successful in entirely delaying them to after the election.

The civil side of things seems more pressing. If you're someone who could conceivably be owed money by Trump for some reason or another, best to get a judgement in while he's still alive and there's still any money to take.
