Bill Barr and his October Surprise

vaporware. As expected. I'm curious about how the spygate/Qanon types are going to react to this news.

The report concludes that there was no substantive wrongdoing but doubtless President Trump and his cronies will insist that this is clear evidence of the greatest political conspiracy of all time.

edited to add....

He could still release a heavily edited version of the report which gives the impression that there was wrongdoing but that the Deep State were able to cover it up successfully

No "substantive wrongdoing"? But how can that be? According to Dear Leader:

"It was the greatest political crime in the history of our country. If I were a Democrat instead of a Republican, I think everybody would have been in jail a long time ago, and I'm talking with 50-year sentences. It is a disgrace what's happened. This is the greatest political scam, hoax in the history of our country."

Look for a "bombshell" (cough cough) smear attack on Hunter Biden in the next week or so as Trump's Hail Mary. FoxNews is salivating over a story about Giuliani's laywers having "dirt" on him and pushing it hard to their viewership.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/hun...d-drive-laptop

Did they find the dirt next to the WMDs in Iraq or in Al Capone's Vault or in Rachel Maddow's Tax Reveal?

I got a popup saying that if I liked their coverage I should disable my adblocker. Haha, no and no. I'm not a big fan of breathlessly reporting stories that are completely evidence-free and essentially repeating nonsense from their sister rag, The New York Post.

"Hey, there's this broken laptop and somebody says there's a ton of incriminating stuff on it...but nobody's actually seen this incriminating stuff...but WOW!"

Know thy enemy.

I wouldn't disable either though.

Journalist Judd Legum did an analysis of the NY Post story on his Twitter account.

I was going to copy and paste the text for people who can't access Twitter here, but it's a lot longer than I initially thought it was.

It turns out that the whole "scandal" is based (again) on the completely false idea that Joe Biden was trying to stop the investigation of Bursima.

Pretending, for a moment, that everything in the story is true (very doubtful) it is totally inconsequential.

Supposedly one "email" recovered on the laptop "proves" that Hunter once introduced a Bursima exec to his father.

This is a scandal? There is no word on the length of the meeting or what was discussed.

The New York Post says its significant because Biden then called for the ouster of the Ukrainian prosecutor investigating Bursima.

FALSE

The prosecutor was not investigating Bursima

The prosecutor was corrupt, which is why the entire international community was calling for his ouster.

Replacing the corrupt prosecutor brought more scrutiny on Bursima, not less

Notice the sleazy use of language, "No "substantive wrongdoing", instead of saying there wasn't any evidence of wrongdoing?

Is Barr trying to discredit Biden and/or please der Führer, afraid to tell him Obama did no wrong?

What was the language they tried to use to claim Trump's campaign cronies weren't colluding with Russia?

What, no pee tape?

NY Post comes out with the email claim, Giuliani is behind it. It looks very much like a tabloid story. FaceBook declares it is a bogus story and they are refusing to let it be disseminated on their platform until it is fact checked.

After all the email attacks on Clinton, I don't see this crap going anywhere except within the cult who are already claiming the Deep State is trying to quash the story.

But obviously Trump is going to spew this story all over Twitter and his rallies.

Continuing from my post above:
... an Apple MacBook Pro alleged to have belonged to the younger Biden was disassembled and an external hard drive was turned over to the FBI in December – after the computer repair shop owner in Biden's home state of Delaware notified federal investigators about their existence.

The Post reported that the broken laptop was dropped off in April 2019, but nobody returned to collect it or pay the bill. It was unclear who dropped off the laptop....

Costello said the laptop was inoperable, but it remained unclear if the FBI retrieved the contents – and if it still existed. However, he underscored that he had in his possession a copy of the hard drive with tens of thousands of potentially damaging correspondence pertaining to Hunter Biden's Ukraine dealings, which also implicate his high-profile father.
Certainly suspect source, a laptop supposedly not retrieved from a repair shop? Who does that?

The claim is the hard drive was turned over to the FBI almost a year ago. Now suddenly in Oct Rudy dumps the story out.

Utter BS. If there was actual incriminating evidence in the hands of a private citizen, they'd release it. The whole story falls apart when you realize that rich people (Hunter Biden qualifies) don't drop off their malfunctioning computer equipment at random repair shops. They hire someone to come to them and fix the equipment on site.

Or they buy a new one, and I'm not even close to being rich. My son (31) tells me I'm stuck with built-in obsolescence. In his opinion, just get a new one, they have totally upgraded stuff on them. Same with a phone and a camera (not on the phone). Need a battery, get a new camera. Printer quits working, buy a new one.

When your father is the VP of the US and there are emails between the two of you concerning sensitive government business, not to mention explicit sexual photos, you don't just go off and leave it with some computer store. The whole thing sounds like a contrived pile of horse manure.

Rudy was hanging out in the Ukraine. I'm picturing some guy on the street in a trench coat with a heavy accent saying, "Psst, you want dirt? I got this laptop for sale with a whole lot of dirt. It's broken, but if you get it fixed you won't be disappointed."

You'd probably at least want to recover data from the hard drive (or have it professionally erased) if possible, but that's a while-you-wait sort of operation. Even if you were taking it in, they'd probably say to come back in a couple hours.

Obamagate is the new Pizzagate: everyone who thinks there is something there comes back looking like an idiot.

As Trump goes, so goes Rudy. He know this and he's desperate. He's scraping the bottom of the hard disk, so to speak.

My unused and dead computers are just piling up in my garage. :p

Rudy Giuliani today on Steve Bannon's radio show –

the stuff we are in possession of contains a thousand, maybe more, photographs that are highly highly… anywhere from inappropriate to illegal

They have got everything the American people are going to look at in the next five days…

Sounds like Giuliani is going to do a slow burn on releasing what was found on Biden's hard drive a la Project Veritas over the next several days.

I think I'm going to take a vacation just so I have time to watch the loony left's meltdown this week! It's gonna be so much fun!
