That's a load of crap and you know it.
Hmmm... Not the SMH. They are saying Albo is at "Winx-like" odds on to win.Not surprisingly, nearly all the newspapers are asking for a vote for Dutton. No doubt all directed by Rupert.
That is because Rupert does not own it.Hmmm... Not the SMH. They are saying Albo is at "Winx-like" odds on to win.
Nine's assets include the Nine Network, Nine Radio; major newspaper mastheads such as The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Australian Financial Review; digital properties such as nine.com.au, 9Honey, Pedestrian; video-on-demand platform Stan; and a majority investment in real estate web portal Domain Group.
I wonder if they did the usual:Not surprisingly, nearly all the newspapers are asking for a vote for Dutton. No doubt all directed by Rupert.
I don’t believe that’s true. When I voted overseas I asked the AEC person and was told that the votes would be sent to my electorate before voting day. That can cause some results to be confirmed late, IIRC, because those votes don't get counted on election night, but get picked up in the following weeks.
And that’s the problem about early voting. Technically you can only vote early if there is a reason you can’t vote on election day, but the AEC doesn’t bother to even ask. I would much prefer early voting to be for exceptional cases. It’s not the last minute spruiking that is an issue for me, it’s the last minute ◊◊◊◊ up or revelation. What if Dutton or Albo are found to be funded by Russia/the Mafia/Hamas etc etc?8.5 million early voters, apparently ~47% of registered voters.
Makes me wonder if all the last minute spruiking has that much effect on Saturday voters.
The Qld electoral commission disagrees, or ignores the technicality as does the AEC.And that’s the problem either early voting. Technically you can only vote early if there is a reason you can’t vote on election day, but the AEC doesn’t bother to even ask.

This is what the AEC says on the issue<snip>There's been a fair bit of discussion on local radio suggesting that many people voted early this time around.
(Pre-poll and postal voting).

The result of this is that votes cast on election day are often counted and displayed on the AEC's Tally Room well before pre-poll votes can be reported. If there is a difference in voting behaviour between early voters and election day voters, this could mean that early results appear to favour one candidate, but then swing towards a different candidate later in the evening when pre-poll votes are counted.
Well that’s pathetic. The AEC has the early votes in a central hub. Put more staff in and count them as quickly as votes on election day. This is what the AEC says on the issue

Yes I know this, but technicality it still is. From the AEC:The Qld electoral commission disagrees, or ignores the technicality as does the AEC.
“All voters can vote at an early voting centre before election day.”

Enjoy! Krakow is lovely.I have just discovered that the ABC election coverage is live on YouTube. I’m due to head off on a walk around Krakow in a couple of hours. I think I’ll have the tour guide’s voice in one ear and the ABC in the other.
How would I know if I can make it to a polling place on election day? I might have had an accident. So I am eligible to vote early.Yes I know this, but technicality it still is. From the AEC:
There is nothing wrong with casting an early vote if your circumstances mean you can't make it to a polling place on election day.
I don’t believe that’s true. When I voted overseas I asked the AEC person and was told that the votes would be sent to my electorate before voting day.
Well that used to be the case, but it was based on the assumption that the relative wealthy go on holidays, and they were more likely to vote Liberal. That is certainly not the case now. I would be very surprised if there were any difference in voting patterns. The early swing towards Labor and away from the Coalition is very strong right now, at this time that polls have closed in WA. They're saying that the postal and pre-polls will favour the Coalition, but it's hard to see this being sufficient to counter the country-wide red wave.
He not only has held his seat, he has more votes than the ALP.<snip>
ETA And I'm seeing breaking news now that David Pocock has held his Senate seat. Good!
I’ve been following closely (it’s 1.40pm here). TOP has been below One Nation. No impact whatsoever. Hope they lose their deposits.I'm just happy that Voldemort Junior has lost his own seat. Pleases me more than the ALP win.
Still no news on Bugles of Bullshit results yet. It was all a tax write-off for Clive, really, so he won't give a flying ◊◊◊◊ about the result.
Other side of the globe...? Time differences?Out of curiosity, I checked some overseas front pages. The BBC has it as a big front-page story with live coverage.

CNN has it as a front page story, but it's smaller:

Fox News doesn't mention it at all - no surprise there. Checking some European sources, Deutche Welle doesn't have it. In Le Monde it's below the fold. Japan Times doesn't have anything. RT isn't carrying it.
