I know we already have a Leopards Eating Faces thread, but I thought it'd be nice to have a second thread for more general good news --fascists encountering setbacks, Good Americans winning some victory, when Dump finally dies a long overdue death (though I guess that deserves its own thread), whatever thing big or small that you feel fits the bill. Never mind the scale, it could be something global or very local. Seeing fewer and fewer fascist flags in your neighbourhood? Feel free to reply and tell us!

I'll start. It's more of a general 'there's so much Resistance happening, the media just doesn't bother covering it' video, but I liked it anyway.

In defence of Cassandra, (leaving aside her sexual abuse by her boss; #metoo), she was always right, just not believed. She may be remembered for the predictions about bad things, but her prediction that tomorrow will be a sunny day with fair winds and clear skies is often forgotten (that the winds were from the west and carried the Atreides and their fleet is another issue). implicitly calling someone a Cassandra is saying that they are correct.

Systems are collections of positive and negative feedback loops. Once a positive feedback loop starts to dominate it requires a compensating negative feedback loop to increase in strength for a system to be brought back into stability. Note that stable does not imply desirable.

History records and psychology seeks to explain why humans are slow to respond to deviations in their environment that result in far more harm than hindsight would indicate was necessary for stability to be restored. Often it is collateral and typically unpredictable and uncontrollable events that provide a big enough impulse to shift systems to different point of stability after the oscillations settle down.

I haven't found exact numbers, but the April 5th Hands Off protests have reportedly drawn millions of people. If momentum keeps building as president Elonia keeps rolling back freedoms and dismantling institutions, that's a good sign.

There was very bad weather last weekend in a lot of places, I bet the numbers would have been higher otherwise. I predict turnout will increase when (if) spring stops being Winter II, damn it.

IT'S HAPPENING: Left-wing YouTube CRUSHING right-wing in growth (David Pakman Show on YouTube, April 8, 2025 - 5:04 min.)
For years, YouTube politics was mega country right wing channels: The Daily Wire, Prager U, Ben Shapiro. These empires were dominating YouTube, feeding a steady diet of outrage and fear and own-the-libs content to millions of people. And the narrative was very clear. The right has figured out the internet, and the left is playing catch up. And that has been true. And to a degree, it is still the case.
But we see a change. In what might be probably the biggest shift since YouTube's political rise, left-leaning YouTube is surging, outgrowing right-wing YouTube in the first quarter of 2025. This is not an opinion. This is data in Q1 of this year: Progressive creators added subscribers faster than their conservative counterparts. A great piece looked into this: Crowder. Shapiro, they're still churning out content, but the growth is slowing down for them.

New Jersey and Eastern PA are no longer under extreme drought conditions. While much of the area is still in drought conditions overall, they are no longer in the extreme category.

And it will probably rain much of the weekend.
