When we moved to Xenfora some of the signature options didn't come over. In the old software signatures were limited by a character limit, on Xenfora there are more options and there is a character number and number of lines limit. I've set maximum number of lines to 4 and unlimited characters.

    5G Mobile Technology

I've created a YouTube playlist with both mainstream and conspiracy videos here: 5G Must Be Stopped. But this thread isn't meant to argue about why or if it should be stopped. I think this will be inherent during a cursory overview, and that 5G will fail [in the U.S., at least at the scale it's...

    WiFi Hard drive

I'm looking for a WiFi hard drive for my girl friend's son this Christmas. He has a Kindle fire and was wondering if this one would work. http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Satellite-Wireless-External-STBF500101/dp/B004Z0S7K6/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1384633072&sr=8-8&keywords=air+stash I still...

    Wifi stunts plant growth?

This is all over Facebook among my friends right now. It seems somewhat plausible, but sells like BS given the breathless way its being reported. Can WiFi Signals Stunt Plant Growth? A group of 9th grade students in Denmark sowed seeds in several trays and placed some trays in a room with no...

Is It Stealing My WiFi If I'm Giving It Away For Free?

Long Post Ahead! We just moved into our new place a little over a month ago, and a couple of weeks ago we were having a post-move yard sale (mostly the things that didn't sell at the pre-move yard sale). We figured it would be a good way to meet the neighbors... Until this one neighbor who...

Why Am I Having to Reset my Laptop's WiFi?

I purchased an Asus G74S back in August of last year and I use it at home, work, school, and the local coffee joint. When I logged onto their particular wifi networks, or just about any other places I frequented, I had it set so the settings would save into my preferences and therefore when I...

    Energy from WiFi signals?

Came across this little story today. Apparently, RCA has found a way to convert WiFi signals back into power, so you can charge your batteries just from being near a WiFi source. Anyone hear anything else about this? Just how efficient would it be?

    WiFi Nuttiness

I just heard from a teacher in Edmonton Alberta that there's a real movement afoot to blame in-school wifi networks for whatever ails their kids. Apparently lawsuits are involved (which in Canada is much more rare). Anyone else heard about this new phenomenon? (Maybe it isn't new) Apparently...

Prevention & MSNBC article: "Is 'electrosmog' harming our health?

Well now... MSNBC in conjunction with Prevention magazine has produced a "Did You Know About" article: "Is ‘electrosmog’ harming our health? Electrical pollution from cell phones and WiFi may be hazardous" http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34509513/ns/health-cancer/ I haven't really studied any...

Another school switches off wi-fi in health fears

Not quite sure about this. So one parent's objections is enough to prompt the removal of a technology yet it was deemed safe enough to use mostly elsewhere else but even if objections are mostly irrational, or without strong evidence they could still render use effectively impossible, as a...

    Wi-fi allergy

Break out the tinfoil hats again. Heard about this on the radio, from a credulous talk-show host, citing a credulous local news source. Steve Miller* gets sick from WiFi signals. My first thought was that Wi-Fi sensitivity is along the same lines as "multiple chemical sensitivity", (and about...

    Getting WiFi Via Cables?

One of my naighbours would like to share my wireless broadband connection. However, the thick granite walls of our houses block any wireless connection. EU says Dublin can't provide free citywide wi-fi

I know next to nothing about the EU, except that its translating bills are high. Can someone explain to me the fine points of why it's their business if Dublin wants to provide wireless internet access for its residents?

    The Ubiquity of WiFi

I recently installed a network sniffer application onto my iPod Touch. Right here I can get only two networks, mine and my neighbors. Today I was a passenger on a trip out into rural northern Illinois to see my doctor who works part of the week out there and had the chance to see how many...

    Wireless Networks and Morality

Sigh...! Now the UK Independent get in on the electrosmog bandwagon

More nonsense in a National newspaper written by an idiot who is unqualified to even comment on a teddy-bears' picnic. Her statement "Everyone is entitled to a hobby; mine just happens to be my health, and what a fascinating hobby it is." says it all. Fortunately, she has now been saved :D...

    Wireless router type help

    Panorama. "Wi-fi:A warning Signal"

Maybe I am using the search function wrong, but I'm amazed that no one has commented on this terrible piece of science-free scaremongering from the BBC. The film made great efforts to highlight the fact that many of our schools are installing wi-fi networks, making it clear that "we just don't...

My iTunes just jacked some airport Wifi

While waiting for my flight to TAM, I opened my PBG4 in the airport. The commercial, high-priced airport wifi showed up and I allowed a connection. But I did not register or pay. And I didn't try to surf. But I did open iTiunes to update my iPod. Lo and behold, iTunes starts downloading...

How Safe is My Laptop WiFi?

Recently bought a used laptop with a WiFi card on eBay. We have a cable modem in the house that connects to a wireless router that broadcasts to my desktop PC upstairs. I set it up with WEP security, including a ten-digit encryption key, so people driving by the house can't poach my router's...

    Good wi-fi locater map?

I'm going to Hermann, Missouri this weekend. I've tried a couple of wi-fi locaters to see if there is anything I can use the in the area and I've come up with just about nothing. Now, it's entirely possible that this is because there are no hotspots (free or otherwise) in Hermann, Missouri...

    Sprint PDA phone and wi-fi

Last night, my wife and I were mere moments from buying her a new PDA/cell phone combo when we had enough presence of mind to ask a question that brought out that there was a $40+ charge in order to use the phone's built in wi-fi antenna to use the internet at a wi-fi hotspot. Let me say that...

I've finally made the jump to get a laptop at home. I just setup a wireless network at work and they came to me asking about wireless printing. I went with a Bluetooth Class 1 Network to avoid conflict the the Wireless-G network. It works fine. Good distance, just no two-way communication...
