When we moved to Xenfora some of the signature options didn't come over. In the old software signatures were limited by a character limit, on Xenfora there are more options and there is a character number and number of lines limit. I've set maximum number of lines to 4 and unlimited characters.

    A warning about Pentecostalism

The following is reproduced from the Australian Politics thread. Basically, the argument is that Pentecostalism is more insidious than other forms of religion (especially in politics) because it embraces the idea of "Dominionism". Discuss.

    The God Paradox

Every time I sit on the dunny to unburden myself, I contemplate the issue of God and gods… and by the time I am finished cleaning away the remnants, I am yet again irrefragably convinced that the whole delusion is a failure of human reasoning and a testament to our inability to fathom the extent...

Is religion inevitable for any conscious evolving species?

Is religion (the belief into some concepts of supernatural forces or entities) an inevitable step or byproduct or even necessary in the evolution of any conscious species during the process of learning and becoming a more advanced society? I tend to think it is almost inevitable. I've put this...

What if your life (seems) to go better with prayer?

I have used prayer before and never was seeking "comfort" or asking for a certain outcome. Rather for something like a boost in some kind of strength, insight or institution. For my purposes, it doesn't really matter if God exists. I just know that if I use it this way, it seems to alter my...

What is the appeal of "objective morality"

I've spent a decent amount of time over the last few years learning about religious argumentation through debates, lectures, and other formats and there's something on my mind at present which I can't wrap my head around: objective morality. Now, what's most commonly done (in my experience) is...

    God enthusiasm

There are bigfoot enthusiasts, alien enthusiasts, and ghost enthusiasts, so how are god enthusiasts any different? If you can be a bigfoot skeptic, alien skeptic, and ghost skeptic then why not god skeptic? These all seem to be beliefs or lack of belief in imaginary things. Why do people...

Religion is to God as Sci-Fi is to Science

The sci-fi/comic book genre is to science as religion is to God. There is a secret history to the sci-fi/comic book genre and it involves the paranormal, just so with religion too. Sci-fi/comic books inspire us, and sometimes that inspiration influences science. We write sci-fi, and sci-fi...

    Religion, Spirituality or Science

I start this thread to get an idea on people thought son those three things. I have never been into religion organized or otherwise for a few reasons. I was raised by my mum who said she was raised Pentecostal-which I have no working idea of because when she mentioned that in a conversation...

    Religion and Romantic Love

I have been in the dating game again and one thing I have noticed that I haven't in the past is that at least anecdotally, those women who are religious have concepts of romantic love. Do others think religion and concepts of romantic love go together? I also see commercials for "Christian...

    Point of view....

I’ve seen a lot of commentary about the “Christian point of view” lately, especially in regards to the tragedy in Connecticut. There have been some prominent Christian “spokesmen” who have made statements which are sickening indeed and do nothing to ease the hurt of the general population who do...
