No, a different thing altogether. Ivor the Engine was a children's TV series first, back in the 1960's, although there were some tie-in books produced; Thomas the Tank Engine started out in a series of books going back to the 1940's and only came to TV in the 1980's. Ivor doesn't have a face and can't talk, but he has a multi-tone whistle that he uses to sing First Bass in the Grumbly Town Choir. He lives in the top left-hand corner of Wales, and four dragons live in his smokebox. And I know a good deal more about all this stuff than is healthy!
