  • Hello Library Lady - I wanted to delete my post because I forgot to put the quote in which I was replying to. That's all!! I don't want anyone to edit it thanks. It says EDIT/DELETE but in fact there is no DELETE. How can I DELETE? I don't think the EDIT facility should be used to flag up to you that something needs to be censored!! That's just WRONG. There is nothing in my post which needs censoring and I do not want it censored. I just want it deleted so I can have another go at replying to a previous comment.
    I would say keep them.
One day, give them away to an intelligent descendant of < 13 years old. Make it clear that the collection is eclectic and bound to his / her family history - then make it clear that they (the <13 yr old) are the owner of the family heritage.

I think they will reward you...
LL, I spent yesterday outside Baltimore, trying to figure out what to do with the many thousands of books in my mother's old house. She died last year and my sister lives there now. My sister isn't really capable of dealing with the books, and it's descended on me to get rid of them.

Fundamentally, they are popular books of a highly literate but someone confused family, covering the past 50 years. Outside of novels and genre fiction (mysteries and romance), there are some special interests, such as cookbooks, and needlework and sewing. Also a lot of equipment and materials related to that.

Bookstores don't want the inventory. From where you are, do you have any advice about unloading them? Local library connections or schools? Otherwise, I'm just going to have to figure a way to get them to a landfill.

Thanks. This is in Riderwood, by the way; exit 25 /N. Charles is about 1/4 mile. SDC
