  • Paul: I certainly appreciate that. I have very strong feelings about the feminist issue being in a profession that is male dominated (geology) and an industry COMPLETELY male dominated and very backwards toward women (mining). As I mentioned, I've also been rubbed the wrong way by the skepchicks. Dr. Hall mentioned in our exchange that she appreciates things they've done but didn't buy into the nude calendar and boozy party image they originally promoted. Me neither. And, even after mentioning to them they have alienated some women by this, they stick their noses up in the air and carry on. I have basically zero respect for them now. Sad that they ruined a good idea.

    But, thanks for the message.
"You're all mostly wrong. :D;) Too many people automatically assume the WORST possible explanation...people are tired of the crap slinging & bad behaviors that are not in line with critical thought...accept that you WILL be offended...I wish for a higher level of professionalism & respect across the board with room for silliness & humor at the edges. We could use more civil, open exchange."

THANK YOU for injecting a tiny dose of sanity...potent stuff though, more so than many realize. Plait was right: DBAD
And...no one can offend you without your permission. Read it, learn it, live it. Talk to the Dalai Lama if you have to. Toss the ego and think.

While writing this I decided against posting to the Dr. Hall Shirt thread. I've grown tired of the unproductive nature of too many exchanges in the blog 'n' forum world. Instead of fleshing out my thoughts there, I decided to send you this as a Thank You for speaking [un]common sense. :D
