For those who may be interested, I wrote to my "good professor" about the image and he took the time out to respond. I won't quote the email because I haven't asked for permission, but he did tell me that I should not draw any strong conclusions about the photograph and he further says that anti-Semitism is NOT a part of the Party of Regions political platform whatever else may be said of them.

He points out that Red Army imagery is more their thing, and one member Kolesnichenko dressed as a Red Army officer yesterday, apparently.

Might as well respond to this. That fits with the bit I know, hence, a strange combination, some kind of costume, or oddball. That makes more sense now, right? Plus no context = nothing but sort of interesting, especially if context becomes known (same guy is seen on video, etc.).

CE was curious, and I less so, if this is an actual professor of yours, or just a nickname. (I missed the spot where he was first mentioned)

CE first referred to him, as "your good Professor", not me, after I posted an article by him. He's actually a fairly well-known historian, and I thought it was kind of him to respond to an email by little old me.

Hmmm, it would appear that there is some more interesting news on the subject. It would seem that my suspicions were correct. Southern Ukraine is definitely not liking the western leanings of western Ukraine. We'll see if this remains true of the rest of eastern and southern Ukraine. Ukraine is looking ripe for a split.

Here's the story:

And more or less the same story.

I've just e-mailed all kinds of people, and you'd be surprised how cool they usually are.

I think I got the basic scene laid out here. I'd like to start placing stuff in this now that it can make sense. One is the spot the BBC showed bullet impacts, and another the spot they say they were fired from.

There's only a few anti-Semites among Western Ukraine's protestors?

The fear of ultra-nationalists in Ukraine is real.

A quote from the article.

Levin also expressed concern that with elections slated for May 25, a future government could result in ultranationalists gaining power in Ukraine. Svoboda, a right-wing nationalist party, was prominent in the protest movement, and party officials have expressed virulently anti-Semitic sentiments. - See more at: http://www.cjnews.com/news/canada?q=node/122622#sthash.92pGRR9A.dpuf

Is anyone seriously still doubting that Svoboda is an ultra-nationalist party? I don't know why people are consistently attempting to dismiss the real concerns of Nazism laden throughout Western Ukraine.

Russia doesn't need to force Kazakhstan to do anything. They are already joining the Eurasian Customs Union out of free volition.

Yes, for a sufficiently variable value of free, I guess. Kind of like Georgia was free to relinquish it's territory to Russia in 2008?

The EU is proving quite incapable of bailing out it's current poor members. Greece, a nation that is at least four times smaller than Ukraine is proving to be a nightmare to bailout. Do you really think a huge country the size of Ukraine will receive any substantial financial assistance? Most of the SPIG countries are face some level of uncertainty. Adding a financially insolvent country the size of Spain certainly won't do much to help. This is largely why the EU gave Ukraine such a crappy deal. Even if only half of the Ukraine were to join the EU, one more financially insolvent nation could potentially ruin the EU.

Ukraine needs approximately 1/6th of what Greece needed in bailout money, plus there's the fact no one is advocating joining Ukraine to EU and Euro ad hoc, with no preparations in between. This is purely your fantasy. Ukraine would benefit enormusly if it just began to integrate, if it would know how to use it's potential.

Yeah, what L.Y.S. said and remember the pro-Yanukovych or pro-Russia rabbi? He's not alone. Or at least this on Facebook tries to be alarming. How much of this pans out, and please don't be lazy about stuff like this.

"Rabbis in Kiev and across Ukraine spoke out, warning their congregations to stay off the streets and remain in their homes. The Jewish Agency in Jerusalem has moved swiftly to offer aid to elderly Jews living in greater Kiev. Food-delivery men are braving gunshots and Molotov cocktails to help them. Reports from Kiev say the police have been replaced by roving bands of undetermined loyalty.

Jewish organizations worldwide and the state of Israel regard the appeals from Ukraine as grave and immediate.

The fresh report of the firebombing of a new synagogue in Zaporizhia, 250 miles southeast of Kiev, increased the alarm in Israel and accelerated planning for all contingencies, including evacuations."

I saw a video too, from TV 124 (a new Ukrainian channel from Nov. 2013 only - I looked that up). Don't have the video link handy, but it shows a talk show, with a bald man (app. coincidence?) reviewing another video, showing, as I recall:

a collection of men with varying construction helmets and civilians clothes have surrounded a car, apparently removed the driver, and take it away, impounded. Before, they showed a bag full of guns in the trunk. The video title, in Englsih, said a Jewsih MP of Ukraine was arrested witn a sniper rifle in his trunk.

I'll let someone else check that and find the link, and maybe figure out who's blamin' da jooz here - apparently for the recent mystery sniper incident I suspect the Nazi gangs were running.

Firstly, you seem to not understand that Kazakhstan actually LIKES and has good relations with Russia. The situation in Kazakhstan is COMPLETELY different than Ukraine or Georgia for that fact. Americans and Western Europeans wrongly assume all Former Soviet nations have poor relations with Russia, when in fact most remain rather friendly with Russia.

AND MANY EUROPEAN COUNTRIES ARE GOING BELLY UP! Are you seriously going to tell me that Europe can handle more poor nations buried in debt? 35 Billion USD is only the surface amount that they will need to STAY AFLOAT! They will need additional bailouts once Ukrainian businesses virtually collapse due to being poorly equipped to handle Eurozone regulations. So an ADDITIONAL bailout would be required to keep the collapsing Ukrainian economy afloat. You seem to underestimate the baggage of Ukrainian debt.

As for the bolded, what were the plans to integrate Ukraine during the original timespan of the EU-Ukraine agreement? What conditions were previously agreed upon prior to the Euromaidan protests?

A news check seems to bear out the general picture I mention above.

Svoboda racist scumbags:

Congratulations on a successful revolution!

We now formally request that you eat **** and die. Thank you.

Quite interesting mixture of facts and misinformation. Greece forged their books for so long that the hole is so deep, it simply requires large changes before any bailout money will make any difference. Where did those billions end? In black hole. And considering how often people went against any reform...

Frankly, don't try to pass misinformation as facts and do not try to misinform what is going on there. Only few things were correct there...

And Ukraine isn't a black hole?

The West, for all it problems, economically is in much better shape long term then Russia, whose economy is surviving only because of Natural Gas and Oil.

And Ukraine isn't a black hole?

Too many things went wrong in Greece. From cooked accounting books (to look good so they could get Euro), through fraud in statistics(same) to large problems across areas including employment, social welfare, state bureaucracy and more. And that didn't include massive hole in finance, meaning no money at all. (+ massive sense of entitlement by population.)

Not that Ukraine is significantly better (like that massive expensive estate), but they don't appear to have such deadly combination like Greece.

It's up to Ukraine, how it will use money and if they fix the mess, otherwise no amount of aid will fix anything...

Show me where anyone made this argument? The truth remains that Eastern Ukraine being ethnically Russian/Pro-Russia desires to align itself with Russia. I really don't see this changing unless Ukraine decides to remain neutral. Separatism is already being sparked on the southern portion of the country.

I beg to differ with the highlighted. We could both be wrong, but Ukraine certainly looks like another huge mess.

As for your last sentence, I'm thinking that's more up the alley of Ukraine.

PressTV with the courage to report!

Ukrainian media have reported that a former Israeli army officer is playing a leading role in the anti-government protests in the former Soviet republic.

According to reports, the unnamed Israeli commands a group of 20 Ukrainian militants.

Four other Israelis, who had previously served in the army, were recently reported to have taken part in opposition rallies in Ukraine’s capital, Kiev.

They were born in Ukraine but migrated to Israel and joined its armed forces before returning to the European country for the demonstrations.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian media said that an Israeli tycoon provides financial support to the opposition in Ukraine, adding that Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency is one of the instigators of the unrest in the country.

I knew Dazionists were really behind all of this. Thank you, racist baboons known as PressTV, for pulling the curtain back.
