Cluesforum - How far will they go exactly

I think this absolutely typifies all that Shack and his attendant morons have to offer: nothing but a rolleyes smiley and "yeah, right".

Evil Edna posts this from a NASA site:

How Do Objects Stay in Orbit?
...
Orbital velocity is the speed needed to stay in orbit. At an altitude of 150 miles (242 kilometers) above Earth, orbital velocity is about 17,000 miles per hour. Satellites that have higher orbits have slower orbital velocities.

Where Do Satellites Orbit Earth?
The International Space Station is in low Earth orbit, or LEO. LEO is the first 100 to 200 miles (161 to 322 km) of space. LEO is the easiest orbit to get to and stay in. One complete orbit in LEO takes about 90 minutes.

That mindless drivel is targeted at children (ages 5 to 8, maybe?!)

NA$A's garbage is now poisoning the official school curriculum for Northern Ireland, with the introduction of a new GCSE (secondary school qualification) in "Space Science".

The "expert" promoting this examination in Space Claptrap is a clown called Dr Leslie Orr. Orr spent 19 years at Nortel Networks, a "technology partner" with Hughes in the ongoing "ANIK" satellite scam. Dr Orr is/was also on the advisory committee of Ofcom (UK telecoms regulator) where his expertise in comical space wizardry (PhD in "Aerospace Engineering") must bring a giggle to the boardroom

No attempt to provide any kind of reasoned opposing argument, no sources to back anything up, just pathetic, snide, uneducated drivel and some unaccountable and uncalled for character assassination.

These are people leading the fight against our oppressive overlords? Pass me the blue and white t-shirt, I know who I'm siding with.

Same with every topic, the only counter evidence ever offered is-as you say-the blue and white t shirt! They decide its fake then it must be.

Argumentum ad smiley again! That name needs to become some kind of official term in the skeptic community, like the Galileo gambit and the Gish Gallop.

Then how do Cluesforum's fantasies compare with those who believe there are NO conspiracies at all?

They both support the same paradigm. One states there are no conspiracies, our masters are in control so go back to work, whereas the other states it's all fake therefore our masters are far to powerful to overthrow therefore you might as well just go back to work.

As usual, your argument is doing it wrong!:jaw-dropp

par·a·digm (pr-dm, -dm)
n.
1. One that serves as a pattern or model.
2. A set or list of all the inflectional forms of a word or of one of its grammatical categories: the paradigm of an irregular verb.
3. A set of assumptions, concepts, values, and practices that constitutes a way of viewing reality for the community that shares them, especially in an intellectual discipline.

So, no.

From a 9/11 thread on Cluesforum:

"I find it precious that the name of the interviewed is "Barbara Crowley", given the rumors that want Barbara Bush senior to be the illegitimate daughter of Aleister Crowley. The moment you look up this person on google to see if someone with that name is really part of the "NYU medical center", you get sucked up into the deepest well of internet conspiracy (the Bush family)."

I'm so glad I wasn't born as stupid as this guy.

Most of us know about the weird and wonderful Apollo and space theories on Cluesforum hence their 'cluelessforum' knickname. But having browsed on there just now it appears that even 'My Lai', 'Me Lie' as they see it and also the Kim Phuc photograph does not escape their expert analysis.

This is along with all the other VicSims that they are quite happy to call out.

My question is that is there any point where their nonsense will stop and a little sympathy let alone empathy creep in?

I am just as critical of the September Clueless as the next guy, but where does sympathy and empathy come into play when investigating criminal acts? Wives often grieve over the loss of their husbands, but their grief doesn't stop detectives from keeping them at the top of the list of suspects when their husbands are murdered.

Be real, people.

If those idiots treated their victims as real people, instead of parading their ignorance like a badge of honour while they dispute their existence you might have a point.

Detectives might well keep spouses as suspects, but when it is abundantly clear that there is no evidence whatsoever that there has been a crime let alone implicate them they then move on.

The morons at clueless start from the premise that they are right. They then decide what they are right about, ignore anything that proves them wrong, ban or ridicule anyone who points out they are wrong, and delete anything that conclusively proves they've just made complete fools of themselves.

I had to laugh at this moron today:

gettin all angry at a beer made out of lunar meteorite and somehow thinking this means it's an Apollo sample, despite it saying nothing about Apollo:

Trillions of tax-payer dollars were spent so that precious moon dust could be ******-away into Delaware urinals. Yeah, right!

I tried registering an account on their forum not heard a thing.....

Must be a conspiracy

Have you put the obligatory introductory message on the site explaining who you are and why you think you should be allowed to post there? It's in the T&C's somewhere, to try and keep out government agents, trolls, fake people and people who would point out how stupid they are. Mostly the latter.

I think sympathy and empathy come to play when you call relatives of nearly 3,000 people liars because you say they didn't exist, or parents of murdered children in schools liars, because again you have decided they didn't exist and that they are all 'Vicsims' and you show pictures of the victims against pictures of people you claim are the victims who you claim are really still alive.

Denying Apollo and satellites is idiot in my opinion, treading on peoples grief is offensive.

Just my view.

Ah, the Clueless: Insensitive Jerkasses or Painfully-Misguided Activists? debate raises its head once again. I doubt we'll ever settle it one way or the other. However, the main thing that rubs me the wrong way about their character isn't really the subjects they discuss, but the way they go about it. Okay, they aren't going to be sad if they think that it's all a hoax, but neither are they angry, or even particularly concerned about it at all. All they do is arrogantly sneer about how stupid everyone else is for falling for these hoaxes and pat themselves on the back for being geniuses who can see through them. It's one big vanity exercise.

I would say the analogous situation would be that the detectives laugh at the "wife" and tell her to stop pretending she ever actually HAD a husband because they know he's really just a "vicsim", and the bloody body on the floor is just an actor (kick, kick). Assorted smiley faces.

hoi.polloi is starting to doubt his own existence, and that of other members:

dblitz, are you in Oz at this moment and for the foreseeable future? Would you want to try to meet? Do a "sniff test" on one another and see if we can confirm for ourselves that we are indeed real and legit?

I feel like not enough CluesForum is based in reality sometimes, and it would be nice to try meeting some members now and then. If yes, send me a PM.
Still, he did get one thing right - "I feel like not enough CluesForum is based in reality sometimes"

Maybe it is time to join up and espouse the virtues of Solipsism. That seems to be where hoi.polloi is headed.

I am not sure if it is the actual intent of the growing size of the completely fabricated world they have grafted onto the real world like a cybernetic conjoined twin [snipped a long rambling post about the Matrix]

Nothing gets me going in the morning like a double dose of crazy provided by Cluesforum and Freerepublic. They are similar in many ways, except Clues people seem harmless, while every post at freep is dripping with racism and bigotry.
