Is it on tv there ? And do you think many Brits will watch?

1 yes
2 not as many as if it were played a Brit-friendly time

Seriously, I think a good section of the young male population will watch it, assuming access to satellite TV.

Go Hawks! Like Mary said.

Yes, it's on Channel 4 (company name as well as channel number).

There's no bank holiday tommorrow, so viewing will likely be quite limited. I would be suprised if it caps previous peak, which was about 1.25m.

Some thoughts:

I was interested in our esteemed Harvard law professor, Alan Dershowitz in this recent TV interview about the AK matter.

Dershowitz makes me sick, didn't he defend OJ? If he had been hired by Amanda, his tune would turn a 180, he is strident as hell but I'll admit he's a talented blowhard at arguing just about any position regardless of what he truly believes.

It is huge here...by far the biggest sporting event. And Seattle has just about shut down for the game.

Party time. Game starts pretty quick.. Thought the game started at 3:30 but they are singing the National Anthem right now which usually means kickoff!!!!

You mean he is a lawyer (sorry Anglo).

I'm really curious... I figure the Americans are about to sign off to watch the Super Bowl. Out of curiosity. Just how many of your Europeans will stay up late to watch the game? I have to believe that it has to be on one of the cable channels.

Go Hawks!!!!

To be confrontational american football is a shallow imitation of rugby which is played by proper men not afraid to appear naked (by which I mean without armour although having been invited to one or two rugby club dinners…). and baseball is an intellectual dwarf as compared with cricket. My happiest memories of childhood are going to Headingley with my father; I suspect they are some of the most miserable for my sister (not that she went much) who did not have a love of trivial stats or picnics, which I have to admit is the great glory of cricket a game perfect for the nerd within you.

PS I am still waiting for clarification re conviction / charges in the most recent court case.

PPS since I got slammed last time I implied everything Yorkshire was better than anything American I expect all I'm going to get.

Oh it's live on a national network channel (Channel 4), as well as on satellite/cable pay TV (Sky Sports). Kick off is at 11.25pm UK time. I shall watch it probably til half time, and watch the second half on delay tomorrow evening.

As an aside, I've lived and worked in most of the world, and know for certain that the UK has the most disparate and cosmopolitan sports coverage of practically any country on Earth. Whether it's African Nations football, Indian Premier League cricket, US college basketball or Australian Rules football, it can usually be found somewhere on a channel in the UK - especially for games of any relative importance or significance. I went out with a luxury boutique hotel manager once, and found myself sorting well-known guests out with obscure TV sports coverage: I got Eurosport set up for the group Kraftwerk so that they could watch an Italian cycling race (they are cycling fanatics), and also got Hank Marvin access to a Newcastle United UEFA Cup match that was only being shown on a minor cable/sat channel :)

Go Peyton!!! (Only kidding :D )

Dershowitz number one client has always been himself. I'm amazed at just how little he knows about the facts in this case.
Ordinarily he is defense guy.. So he now pulls a 180 and that fact makes it notable. If he spoke on Amanda's behalf, he probably wouldn't even be noticed.

It's actually quite clever tactic for self promotion.

exactly, good observation..what a prick

Oh come on. Even you have to smile at this one. Hmm. Right to appoint, but not the right to actually have one. I guess you folks can hash out the legal application of this one for a few more wasted pages of nonsense. Me thinks you have defending too long.

I am accusing you of sewing lies and falsehoods, not defending.

Hey, I love rugby. I use to play rugby on an Intramural club at college. But I LOVE FOOTBALL. I played that in jr. high and high school. And were raised on it. And as hard hitting as rugby is, Football is even harder hitting. Granted the pads and the helmet help and allow you to take bigger hits, but that's the problem, the guys think they are invincible. I was knocked out cold 3 times in one year alone.

But I love all sports...EXCEPT CRICKET.

Don't worry, you'll get slammed by me for implying that everything Yorkshire is better than anything London-and-the-Home-counties :D

Unfortunately, county cricket is now a shambles and a joke, exacerbated by international central contracts and the overwhelming (and seemingly-insurmountable) gulf in interest/audience between the county game and international cricket. Although the England team's recent performance in Aus might narrow the gap a small bit.........

As I understand it, the "right" to a lawyer cannot be waived, so it's really more a procedure than a right, which Mignini of all people is aware of. In order to honor the spirit of the law that seeks to protect the rights of the defendant in the process of investigation and arrest, Mignini should not have accepted anything from Amanda, verbal or written, regardless of her insistence or "spontaneity." He was aware of the requirement that she have a lawyer for her own protection; she was not. He behaved unethically, and I believe, illegally.

You believe on the basis of what? You don't like art. 104?
The changing, nebulous and inconsistent accounts of a girl who doesn't know what the truth is, should be credible over that of respected people like Mignini and Donnino?

Sounds like Planigale and I might need to educate you....... :D

Good luck for the game tonight. I wonder if Knox and her family have been invited to the game?

She was in New York on Friday..so who knows? I'd love to hear that they went to the game. They deserve a break from all this.

OK..There is kickoff.

Well that was a great first play from scrimmage! :p

(ETA: I strongly suspect that Marriott has "got" to the Denver center to arrange that flunked snap :D :D)

I looked at Simons -v- Belgium now. It does not say what you say it says. She stabbed her boyfriend and, without a lawyer, admitted it to the police and a judge. Under Belgian law she had no right to a lawyer. She was remanded in custody. Her subsequent application to the ECHR was ruled inadmissible because she had not exhausted her domestic remedies, not because the right to legal advice is not absolute. Moreover, she invoked two human rights:

to liberty, and
to a fair trial

The court held that the relevant Belgian law did not transgress the first but on the second the decision reads:

Yes, but the ruling acknowledges the principle that the right to obtain counsel immediately is not absolute. You are right that the application was ruled inadmissible because does not meet the preliminary conditions. But the merit rules that the right to obtain legal advice is not absolute.

Safety on the first play from scrimmage... Yeah!!!! Seahawks leading already!!!
