Merged StopSylvia emails

StopSylvia email: "She died"

I received the following email yesterday at StopSylvia, with the subject "She died":

Hi,

I know you think she is a fraud, but to those of us who were not fraud she dragged us from our real place of Love and real Heaven and introduced this to us.

I have a sixth sense and at age 29 she sent me this type of spirit. I am age 39 and found this by real synchronicty. You don’t have to believe, but give the real sixth sense of people a chance to know about this, even if its just the one article to start them off with to give them answers.

Kind of says it all, doesn't it?

I have yet to reply, as I am yet to be sure what was even meant by much of it.

Some of you may be wondering why I am still posting StopSylvia email, when she has passed on.

I suspect that I will continue to post here any SSB emails I receive which I feel are worthy of sharing with you all. I share this one because I - perhaps uncharitably - think that it speaks volumes about the sort of confused mind that can be drawn to psychic nonsense (not that ALL who are drawn to it are this confused, mind you).

Just cuz she's dead doesn't mean you can't post about her. You can post anything you like Robert, I'll always be interested to read your posts.

Sylvia's influence will unfortunately be around for years, if only because her son - and possibly other members of her family - will want to keep the brand name in the public eye. The debunking shouldn't stop just because she's dead.

I don't think her death will stop those from claiming that Sylvia spoke the truth about people like Amanda Berry. As we all know, she was just evilly and maliciously misinterpreted. Therefore, your campaign will live on.

Hi Robert, count me as someone still interested in these posts.

My interpretation of the e-mail is that this person believes themselves to be psychic and that Sylvia Browne helped them on that road. "found this by real synchronicty" I take as meaning that they think fate brought them to StopSylvia. I suspect Google was more involved. :D They think you should have an article on StopSylvia telling their experience so as to encourage other people who believe they are psychic. I'm not sure if it's just encourage them in general or encourage them to follow Sylvia Browne's teachings.

Why would anyone want to be dragged from their real place of love and real heaven to be introduced to "this" (whatever "this" is)? That doesn't sound like such a good thing.

Thanks, Reno!

True, but while that is a reason for leaving the site up, I don't know that it is for posting emails here.

Good point! :D

Thanks, Zax! And, your understanding of the email is pretty much the same as mine.

Yes. That is one of the parts on which I was totally unclear.

Hi Robert, Please keep posting your emails from SSB, Your work is still very important, and very relevant.

Someone will be waiting to fill the gap that she both created and left, so your work in this area can still be a very useful example, Robert.

Her message lives on, especially in print form. (I'm a writer and have loved books since I was a little kid, so this aspect of Browne's scam is the quickest way to make me frothy mouthed.)

The books are selling lots of copies as of late. Check Amazon's sales rankings for her titles.

This is why I think the site should stay up, Robert. Browne's books aren't likely to go out of print anytime soon and, even if I'm wrong, plenty of used copies are still available. The facts you've collected and presented are still relevant and important.

That email is appalling gibberish. I can't make any sense of the English at all, so have no idea what conclusions one might draw from it. My view? Note it. Smile. Forget it.

Agree with MikeG. No matter how many times I read it, I feel like I'm reading something that was sent through BabelFish three or four times. Either I'm not smart enough, I'm intoxicated without knowing it, or your correspondent is spouting word salad of the first water.

*shakes head in despair*

Keep posting the emails, Robert. Your work continues to be important.

I'm certainly glad that the website will still be active. While I suspect you have already done enough damage to their credibility to prevent her son from smoothly transitioning into her place and continuing the family scam, it's a good thing to keep the heat on just to be sure.

Good work, Robert!

Robert, have you considered writing a book about the whole business? About Browne herself, the creation of the original site, your own health crisis, the loss of the domain name, the contacts with believers and ex believers, etc?

She's not going away. Her website will probably soon be offering (for a fat fee of course) communications with her from the other side. Keep up the good work Robert.

Her son will be able to double his usual rate by claiming he's in direct contact with Sylvia.

Black Swan Natalie Portman or Star Wars Natalie Portman?

Either one, though Thor: The Dark World Natalie Portman might be best. The resemblance between us is completely unapparent to my kids uncanny.

(Never mind that she is 13 5 years younger than me.)
