Yes BUT, if the suspected audio paredolia, confirms that the suspected visual paredolia, is actually not visual paredolia, and is an ability of the spirits, then the only box left to tick, is this one "Spirit's :boxedin: Exist"

The "what you imagine you hear confirms what you imagine you see" box is still an option, and a far more likely one.

The issue is not whether people hear voices, but whether the voices are from the after-life.

I didn't say it would prove that.

But here's the thing, I don't think flaccon will be able to do it. Because it's in her head not actually something she is really physically hearing.

But one good step would be this experiment.

It is highly likely that Alderbank will hear voices definitely worthy of an investigation. The voices are unmistakably mysterious, spiritual, and very interesting.

The face on Mars is in people's' heads and not something they are physically seeing, but they still see it every time.

I hear "this octopus, let's give him boots" every time I listen to O Fortuna, even though that's not what's being sung.

Once flaccon has decided what word a particular random noise in a recording is she will hear that word every time she listens to that recording.

Isn't the problem with this that Alderbank would be hearing something pre-recorded, so there's no way to verify that it hasn't been tampered with?

D'you mean that it is highly likely all in my head, or are you setting that in stone? Here's a thing, it's highly likely, that those who judge blindly, miss great chances in life.

Here's a thought, we can afford £5 right? IF Alderbank is convinced these "noises" are words, and voices in sentence, you all donate the fiver to JREF, against my £10.

If Alderbank hears exactly what you hear, and the spirits give him Pixel42's real first name, and reveal the name of a flash card in a sealed envelope, and predicts the winning lottery numbers, you're still several steps away from proving the existence of spirits.

It's ok, we know to do a good few fresh recordings, done in a silent room.

Well try to prove just that in this simple experiment.

Sorry, I've just been playing ketchup on this thread and since Flaccon got back from her "successful" visit to Mr Thingies, reading her posts, it doesn't look like she's actually listening to what anyone is either saying or asking.

She has already convinced herself that Alderbank will be "convinced" by her "hands on" and will become a "witness". In her excitement, she has entered even further in to subjectivity and believes that the wave of her own enthusiasm is enough.

Flaccon, please listen to what people are saying. This isn't going to be a walk in the park. It will require focused objective thought and careful planning and strict methodology, something at present I'm really not sure you're up to.

And yes I do agree, it's not good to put personal feelings first, but I do think scumbag, fraudster, failure, etc etc is too silly, to make me even want to continue here. Opinions of that nature ought to be put more respectfully.

I did a search of this thread and the very first use of the word "scumbag" is this one. To repeat what has been said again and again, posters asking for evidence - no matter how ill-put you think the request might be - is not any sort of personal comment.

It also appears to be the first use of the word "fraudster" in the thread, although "fraud" first appeared earlier, in this post:

No one has the right to establish me a fraud without proving so.

The post SezMe quoted is not the first use of the word "failure", though. That appears to be this post:
Yes, terribly distorted and nothing like the original. The test wasn't really a failure, it confirms "transference" badly distorts. Important thing is, it should have been a silent recording, and it isn't (The screeches are not present in the original) I'm just asking a friend to listen to Straycats upload to Audacity. He hears nothing at all, but he has no external speakers to his laptop.

I'll go for the $mil: Alderbank won't hear voices. Or at least won't hear what flaccon hears. Then flaccon will fault him/her for not listening carefully or lying or something like that. Or the test was unfair. Or something.

ETA: And here is the criterion:
It is highly likely that Alderbank will hear voices definitely worthy of an investigation. The voices are unmistakably mysterious, spiritual, and very interesting.
Alderbank has to declare that what he hears is unmistakably mysterious, spiritual and very interesting.

No you don't understand it from my point of view. Mr Bulger has had a terrible time, I unintentionally put him through a nightmare. As this began back in October, Mr Bulger was present and saw what the spirit put me through that day. Mr Bulger has never had Hands-on. He has only heard what sounded like his voice over a landline. Hands-on, hardly isn't asking him again is it.

Is this a well-known Mr Bulger, or simply someone with the same name?

Flaccon, you need to stop deleting the last ] from posts you are quoting so that the reply will display correctly.

Precognition, aliens, people in a parallel universe ... alternative explanations would still exist even at that point. But let's eliminate the much more likely alternative explanation of pareidolia first.

I suggest you and Alderbank use the simple protocol I described a few days ago of laying ordinary playing cards face up somewhere you can't see them and without looking at them, asking the spirits which colour they are, and seeing whether you can identify the words "red" or "black" in the recording. Both you and Alderbank should do this. Write down "red", "black" or "unclear" against each number first, and then also any other words or sentences you think you hear. When you've done this an agreed number of times (20 say) Alderbank should go through the cards that have been laid down whilst you watch, and write down the actual colour of each card on a third sheet of paper.

You should then first compare your sheet with the correct list of colours. The expected chance success rate is 50%, I suggest a success rate of at least 75% would be required for further investigation (and an application to ASKE) to be deemed warranted. Alderbank should then compare her own sheet with the actual colours to see if she should be considering an application to ASKE.

It would also be interesting to compare any other words you think you heard with the ones Alderbank thinks she heard. If it's pareidolia I would expect only a few correspondences where there are obvious noises on the recording; if it's really voices I would expect something approaching complete agreement between you.

This is yet another person you have influenced to expect to hear what you want them to hear.

You haven't answered these questions:

These people who "confirmed" your results, do you tell them who you think is speaking?

Do they hear just a few words similar to the words you heard?

The people who confirmed they heard your father - did you tell them it was your father? Did you mention your father at all during the times you were telling them about the spirit recordings?

Be honest with us, and especially with yourself, please.
